Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

If you've ever wondered what it might be like to camp on the moon, this is it. Completely removed from civilization and surrounded by a barren nature that is alive with the subtle presence of the universe. Seasonally, Spring wildflowers burst across the landscape. Cave paintings of Chumash Indians at Painted Rock remind us of those who lived before us. **Read on for more details.** This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site. Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.** Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed. We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day. This is a non-smoking, no candle facility.

It’s the only place in the national forest system where you can access the Mississippi River from the shore, so that right there is a must do! The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile. Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy. Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

4 nights at Grateful Acres Vermont

It’s nice and secluded. Was perfect for our two dogs. The cabin was clean and they supplied us with a lantern which came in handy in the cabin. The outhouse was clean too. The hosts answered our questions and was there if we needed anything. We were there for 5 days and the no showers were a little inconvenient, but we found public showers that were a half hour drive and stopped there after going out on hikes. Overall it was a perfect “off grid” vacation.

The sugar Shack is a great location where you can simply unplug from the world and enjoy your time in nature and the company with you. Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

Aimee is just the best host! Fruitdale farms is such a labor of love for her, you can tell as soon as you arrive. The cattail cabin is charming and cozy it sits right on the pond where the bull frogs sing you to sleep. Waking up there is nothing better than catching morning sun on the porch and taking a morning stroll with coffee around the property and Aimee’s beautifully done garden. I feel very lucky to have stayed here and sincerely can not wait to be back!

This cozy a-frame cabin has a full-sized bed with a comfy memory foam mattress. Clean bedding provided.

This was a well needed easy weekend to spend in nature! Aimee has curated such an amazing cozy space, the cabins are really special. We cooked good, ate good, drank good wine, and had many laughs around the fire late into the night. Walking around the property is a nice way to reconnect with yourself and spend time with friends. 4 nights at Mystic Forest Campground

The campground is beautiful and is close to a lot of the Redwood Forest experiences. We loved the mini-golf course and the walking trail. There is a game from which we didn't check out, and a nice looking playground. Patrick and Maya were kind and we didn't have any issues. We stayed in the Puma. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen and the other was a kids bunk room, could maybe fit 2-3 kids. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed, including a microwave and plates/cups/pots etc. The RV sites were kind of close together but I still felt like I had some privacy. I would highly recommend this as an option if you are wanting to check out the redwoods. There are cabins, RVs, RV sites, and tent sites available. Decent wifi too!

1 night at Paradise Valley Homestead

The only weekend we had available for camping looked like it was going to be rainy, so at the last minute we decided to try glamping for the first time and it was the best decision! Kathy was super responsive, welcoming, and very accommodating. The lodge was cute, cozy, clean, and comfortable, and the campsite was so well set up. We especially appreciated the rainproof gazebo, which allowed us to enjoy being outdoors even with the rain, and the fire pit with the two-tier grill was such a nice touch. Despite the weather, we had a wonderful time. We would definitely come back. Thank you,

Our first time staying at the medieval encampment and second time staying at the campground. It's such a beautiful and comfortable stay. Perfect for our weekend visits to the renaissance festival nearby. We got rained out during our last night of the stay but encampment was cozy and dry. Can't wait to return soon!

4 nights at Starlight Hills

We had the best time here! It was a little warm in the tent during the day in August but who stays in the tent in the middle of the day?!? Everything was perfect and they thought of so many details to make your stay memorable! We paid the extra fee to use the spa and it was perfect well worth the experience! They’ve really put in a lot of time and effort into building this campsite and we truly enjoyed it!

Weekend Trip to Hobson Meadows

Hobson Meadows is one of those places that feels special because it isn’t trying to be anything other than what it already is. We were greeted by Millie, their calm, wise pup. I loved watching her guide families to their spaces, then wander back later as if checking that everyone had settled in. Then we met Beth, Matt, and Piper. Beth quickly became one of my favorite parts of the weekend. We clicked immediately and kept finding ourselves lost in meaningful conversations. She is a beautiful soul, and you can feel the love she and Matt have for people, nature, and this land. They genuinely check in on guests while still giving everyone space to simply be. The yurts are beautifully set up with comfortable beds and mattresses. I slept through the night both nights — very unusual for me! There’s no electricity, but lanterns are provided. Days can be warm and nights cool, so pack accordingly. The grounds have two portable restrooms plus a restroom/shower combo. The stocked pond is perfect for catch-and-release fishing or simply sitting beside the water. One evening we watched birds return to a huge old tree, and Matt shared that he remembers them doing the same when he was a child. Hobson Meadows isn’t fancy or commercial. It simply feels like a family sharing a beautiful little piece of their heaven with the rest of us. So much more to share in this review, but limited in space. Check it out for yourself! We will absolutely be back. ❤️

Weekend Trip to Cuyama Badlands

Songdog Ranch is one of my favorite places to be. It is close enough to the city to not feel completely isolated, but far enough to do the best stargazing you have done in your life. My mom is not a camper and she was already talking about coming back. My dad wants to try the larger cabin and my 12 year old son loves it here. It's hard to get him interested in something that does not have wifi. The mattresses in the glabin were INSANELY COMFORTABLE. I will come back to this beautiful place.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

Cedar sanctuary was perfect! Very private spot with a clean, comfortable space to retreat to after hiking the trails right on the grounds, having a fire, etc. Lots of signage to help navigate and the property is really neat to hike around and see the gardens and more wooded areas. Aimee was super friendly and accommodating and it was a really great first experience with Hip Camp.

Weekend Trip to Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp

Recommended for families, 10/10. Great river access with fishing opportunities within the camp and lots of activities nearby. Owner Vince is very accommodating and does a great job of communicating everything you need in advance. He’s also present on site if you need anything. Lots of firewood and a coffee station that’s open 24/7.
