Learn more about this land: Tent sites are next to the pear orchard. Choose any site. There is no need to meet with the host when you arrive. Follow the red arrows. Do not proceed the home located at 1071 Fruitridge. Look for the Hipcamp sign and red arrow markers and turn left into the orchard lane. Location: Use google maps and locate 1071 Fruitridge Rd in Placerville, CA. When you get to 1071, which is a house on the right side of the paved driveway, look for our Hipcamp sign in red, turn hard right into the orchard and follow the red arrows past a wood barn, and up to a small red shed. At this point you may camp in the meadow next to the shed or you may proceed to the next meadow over to the left (follow red arrows and look for umbrellas). We normally only have one site occupied per evening. Ocaisonally two sites will be occupied. The sites are very private and quiet as this is a large, private ranch. You can park close to your tent site. 2WD / 4WD access weather permitting. We offer 3 sites in a large meadow area. Max of 4 persons per site. RV's welcome but we do not have hookups. RV's will be parked next to our barns surrounded by pear orchards. Fresh drinking water is available in the tent meadow area. Hot showers are now available at $10 extra per nite per site. A gas BBQ is now available at a common area. Please don't move the BBQ. Deer, wild turkeys, geese aplenty. Ample walking opportunities on our ranch and wild forestlands and amazing granite rock outcrops. Visit the South Fork of the American River (you can raft in summer!) Hunt for old gold mines on our place and, maybe, find some new ones! Go wine tasting very close by (Lava Cap, Madrone, Boeger) and visit Sutter's Mill in Coloma, where gold was discovered back in 1848.

Cool area to explore, malaina recommended a hike that gave a beautiful view of Lake New Malones. We overall enjoyed camping at this very private orchard! There was a pond right next to us! We saw lots of wild animals including a flock of quails, deer, ducks, and turkeys! The showers were extra charge but we did enjoy the warm water and nice shower after being out in the wilderness. Only complaint is that the toilet and shower room has two big windows that do not have any privacy covering so we felt exposed. Also the door to the laundry room didn’t close all the way so someone could accidentally walk in on you while you’re doing your business or showering. We just ended up changing in the shower which at least had curtains. Otherwise, nice camping spot!

We absolutely love it there!! This was our second time and we plan on going back multiple times in the future. Malaina it is such an amazing host. She makes you feel right at home. It’s so comfortable there. The bed is super comfy and It’s so peaceful. The hot tub is amazing and the outdoor shower as well. Loved our stay! Kelly was incredibly welcoming. We spent most of our time in the pool and had a beautiful evening grilling and enjoying the view. The drive in is pretty long but very scenic. We stopped at a flower farm on the way home and also saw some breweries and wineries we want to check out next time.

This property is a hidden gem, it is so beautiful and Bobby is very welcoming. My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway for a night. Like the description says, bring you snacks. That’s exactly what we did, this spot has everything else you need. Everything from cooking on the open fire to the spa was a great experience. We will definitely be back for another glamping trip!

Weekend Trip to King Madrone

Awesome place in the heart of Apple Hill! Three ponds with plenty of fishing access (caught 11 in about an hour in the evening). It’s a pear farm with unlimited picking and a rich family history in California’s ecological transformation. WILL absolutely be returning even being from just down the hill in Sacramento. The graded area for camping isn’t huge but with just three sites it was more than private enough with fresh potable water, a huge bathroom within eyeshot and a perfect symphony of frogs and birds to fall asleep to. Only regret is staying only one night and not having enough time to explore all the massive property had to offer in just under two days. Total gem of a hipcamp, including the owners, and excited to return for even just another overnight. A stones throw from a big and little city with a lot of history. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Foothills Yurt Glamping

It's my 2nd time coming and it was great! There was some small issues like the bathroom light not working and some skunks at night wanting to hang out, but nothing to spoil a great time. I will say bring extra toilet paper if it's more than 4 people. 2 rolls go by quickly! As well there are some meat wasps that were there both times, they look scarier than they are. They didn't sting us, but rather wanted out food. I loved the manual thatwba left behind that explained everything.

The camp was exactly what I wanted, if I had to change something, it would be bring more snacks. The bathroom is nice and clean and there are some unexpected delights like the massage chairs where you can get a nice rub after a hike. You can expect to see horses, coyotes and hens of course.

There was everything needed to enjoy dinners on the deck, including a beautiful forest view along with peace and quiet. The host, Gary, kept in touch with suggestions for activities and dining out options. He was most gracious in his communications and very easy to work with on arrangements. An A+++ experience.

We had a great time staying at Kelly's property. It checked all the boxes! Great views and lots of peace a quiet away from the city (except the squeals from the kids playing in the amazing pool and the cries from them that we had to leave). We were greeted warmly by Kelly who kindly provided a nice bottle of wine to celebrate my wife's birthday. That felt extra special. The accommodations were great, comfy bed, nice sized pullout for the kids, mini fridge and anything you'd need to enjoy a meal while there. We only stayed for 1 night but would have loved to have been able to stay longer!

2 nights at Foothills Yurt Glamping

This property was beautiful and private! My first time using a Air BnB and it didn't disappoint. Single mom with two kids, one semi adult 😁and it was perfect for us. The yurt is beautiful and decorated so perfect. Incredibly cozy and the deck was a perfect place to drink my coffee in the morning. We had wild rabbits and baby foxes playing under us. The pool was our favorite spot as we swam for hours, relaxing and soaking up the sun. There were a lot of things not working and/or missing. The hammock, the music on hot tub, the sauna and no working light in shower all broken. The swim up pool bar area is nothing but a table with cobwebs. Those were disappointing. Lots of yellow jackets, my daughter got stung. Wasn't expecting that many especially since all cooking had to be done outside but I worked through it. The train rolling through town can be noisy for some but I found it soothing. Overall the property is just incredible and it is up for sale which could explain why so many things weren't working. If you want a private escape in nature but still glamorous, this is highly recommended. We all miss it! Thankful for the owner sharing this amazing place.
