The cabin has a huge redwood deck surrounded by blooming Dogwoods during the springtime. Our year-round Moran Creek runs on the edge of the property. The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp.
Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s.
Whether you want to relax in your campsite listening to the river, dip your toes in the cool waters or try your hand at panning for gold, I-Bar offers all of this and more. There are miles of hiking opportunities around the camp as well, from short river hikes to Trailblazing like the Miners of old. We are betting that you can find the types of hiking you are looking for.
You camping includes access to the Bathhouse with commodes and showers. And yes there is even hot water.
Little History:
The property was discovered and first settled around 1849 as a gold rush mining camp. At one time over 3,000 people lived here and mined for gold. When the gold rush came to an end so did Italian Bar. Until over a hundred years later, In 1976 when our founder fell in love with this remote property and purchased the land and we began rebuilding the I-Bar camp from the ground up and opened it to our members. It didn't hurt that somewhere close by Our founder found a 800oz pocket of gold. Even today, Prospecting for gold is encouraged!
If you want to try your hand at “Gettin on some of the shiny” let the Caretakers know! We have a few gold pans we loan out that are just waiting for some color to make you smile.
Of course we have pans for sale.
If you’re an avid outdoors person, carrying a gold pan with you just makes sense.

Or you can can always just relax with a view in the cabin.

Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends.

We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway.
There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles.
The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper. Help yourself to organic coffee and tea!
The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone.
The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom.
We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months.
The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.

Aimed at providing a comfortable, convenient and safe facility for tourists to spend the night and refresh, Scottie's Motofarm boasts multiple lush green lawns for tent camping, many shade trees, clean and civilized indoor toilet facilities with a locking door, free wifi, a private walk-in shower/changing room large enough for two people with a locking door, outlets for phone charging, laundry washing machine (no dryer) and kitchen food prep area with fridge. The tent camping area is fenced and we have not had any bears on the property, but we do have a few shy farm cats and the occasional racoon. For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road. Our grassy lawn tent area is inaccessible to vehicles and RVs. Our parking area is adjacent to the highway and may not be what rooftop and van/rv campers are expecting in terms of a peaceful camping experience. If you have tent, it’s recommended to camp out on the lawn. We have tents for rent if you need one.

The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge.
The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine.
The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent.

We really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the treehouse! The only thing was that a car pulled into the campsite in the middle of the night to drop someone off at a neighboring house, and that was slightly scary. Overall it was a great stay and we hope to come back in the future.

Wow! This property is like a dream come to life. Desiree was so kind and welcoming. Everything was set up to perfection. At night, it looks like a fairy garden and during the day, it’s just as beautiful! I wish my stay was longer. Highly recommend!

Our First Hipcamp Adventure – What a Win!
Dawn and I are brand new to camping, but after hearing from friends who rave about it, we decided to give Hipcamp a try. It’s such a fantastic way to find unique and special places to stay!
As part of our new small business, www.elevatedbestrentals.com, we’re renting out our Tesla Cybertruck and Pebble Flow EV Trailer. This Hipcamp stay turned out to be the perfect test run on our way back home after visiting Yosemite National Park.
We stayed at Red Tail Ranch and it was fantastic! Super easy to find, with a beautiful barn that gave us tons of extra space to spread out. The excellent outdoor showers and two clean, spacious bathrooms were a total game-changer. It gave us a relaxed, chill area to hang out outside the trailer and truly enjoy the property.
We highly recommend Red Tail Ranch — and Hipcamp in general — for anyone looking for a memorable outdoor getaway!

Upon arrival to my campsite I was greeted by a wonderful view! The location sits on top of a ridge that overlooks the canyon, Tuolumne falls and Tuolumne river.
The hosts were great! They accommodated my stay with a campsite that allowed me access by motorcycle. Communication was great and they answered all my questions at a timely manner. There are good amenities there: warm showers and clean bathrooms. They provide a fire ring with propane for an additional cost but worth it. Access to gas and food is nearby along with a short drive into Yosemite National Park.
I would recommend booking sooner than later as camp spots fill up quickly. I will definitely be booking again soon. One thing they also provide is the opportunity to go water rafting. This will be something I consider on my next stay. Thank you to Liza and Tom for your hospitality. God bless.

Tom and Liza are excellent communicators. They even let me know that bad weather was coming in and I might want to make different arrangements for my second night. I felt cared for. Bathrooms and showers are wonderful. Towels and soap provided.

We had a fantastic stay at the RedTail Ranch. The grounds were beautiful and well conserved. The signage was excellent and clear. The communal areas were cozy and useful. The hot shower was perfect after a long day exploring Yosemite. Easy access to the park. Highly recommend and will likely be back!
