I ended up going with the cabin. I’ll have to say… I really enjoyed my experience. Just a warning about the road. The roads are very narrow, no sidewalk, just cliff, and a lot of beautiful trees and gorgeous sightings. There are a few public lakes. Make sure to bring crocs or swim shoes. Dogs are allowed, but they’re just not allowed in the beach area, go towards the right side or the left side. If you have the privilege of getting this cabin, please make sure you do it on the weekends. There is more things to do highly recommend this for anyone wanting to decompress. The host is very respectful, patient and amazing response time. the great response time helped me feel comfortable.

We had an amazing weekend at this cozy cabin! From the start, Robin was an incredible host, he provided detailed and thoughtful information about the cabin, which made everything so easy. The directions were clear, and check-in was seamless. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. Our dog had the time of his life exploring and lounging around … he probably enjoyed it more than we did! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, well-hosted getaway.

This is a great cabin, private and hidden in the trees, and well appointed indoors. Minutes from Calaveras Big Trees and dining, other amenities in Arnold. The cabin is cozy, quirky and came supplied with everything one could need, including wood for the delightful woodburning stove. Have stayed twice, highly recommended.

First, I want to say the hosts were VERY nice and communicative. The cabin was a great size for our family of six and the loft was much more spacious than expected. The fire place worked great and we actually got a little hot a few times. The neighborhood was great and being able to walk to a hiking trail from the house was awesome.
However, there was an issue with cleanliness/clutter. It’s obvious from the pictures that the cabin has a lot of decorative items. So much so that one entire place setting at the bar was usable. We were careful when moving items to make room but, every time something was moved, the amount of dust and dirt it kicked up was a problem. I tried to vacuum since we tracked in a little dirt, but when I pulled the vacuum out the canister was completely full. So I went to empty it and saw that the filter was caked in dust, so I cleaned that too. Then when I went to use the dishes, forks had food stuck in the tines and one of the spoons was incredibly sticky and the utensil holder was very dirty. Unfortunately, after all that, I spent the majority of the day cleaning all the dishes and counters for my family to use. Just a bit of bummer when you pay a cleaning fee and come to relax but can’t. I was also told there were spices we could use, however most of them were 5-15 years expired.
Be aware, the hosts are clear about hauling out your own trash, but it’s about a 10min drive and not open all week so pay attention to the instructions.

Our family loves Dog Woods Cabin! This was our second trip (the first was in the winter), and we’re already planning to go back. The cozy funky vibe is hard to beat. Great location, quiet and private, and we can bring our dog. We went to dinner at one of the clubhouses, spent an afternoon at White Pines Lake, and hiked to Top of the World. This cabin was the perfect homebase for our weekend recharge from the Bay Area. Highly recommend!

We had an excellent time at Robin’s cabin over the weekend. It was fully equipped, the directions were clear, and the rooms were very comfortable. We loved the decorations and the beautiful trees on the property. Would absolutely return.

Really enjoyed our stay at this vintage a-frame. Beautiful light and woods surrounds it. There’s a lovely porch, wood stove, and plenty of games and books. We found it completely charming. I will note that it’s a bit dusty and we noticed some dog hair about. We have a dog at home so this didn’t bother us. Overall a great stay that we enjoyed a lot!

My stay at Dogwoods cabin was absolutely lovely. It is everything I wanted and expected in a cabin and I especially loved the funky 70’s decor. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils and cooking ware - and the wood stove kept the cabin warm and cozy. Robin was helpful and available - I cannot recommend enough.

Overall we had a good time, but the place was not clean at all. I was ok with that, but if they charge a cleaning fee I would expect to get what we paid for. Kids, grandma and wife didnt like all the dust.

Great a-frame cabin with lots of character in a beautiful and peaceful setting! Also, the kitchen was well equipped with everything needed for cooking.
Loved sitting on the deck, listening to the creek and the birds and the breeze blowing through the trees.

This cabin is very cozy and great for girl's weekend away. It feels like you're in the middle of the forest on the deck. It's a 5 minute drive to the lake and 10 minutes to the store. Love this cabin!

Loved our stay at Dog Woods Cabin! Rob was super helpful and friendly host. Loved the neighborhood and the spring weather during May. Great location in relation to alpine lakes, rivers, and big trees, all within a 20 min drive either direction. The cabin itself was very comfortable and homey. Simple but nice amenities. Comfortable sleeping quarters. It’s surrounded by trees, but gets just enough light to enjoy the daytime on the deck. Definitely recommended!

It was a very relaxed retreat for me and 3 teenage sons. Each of us had our own bedroom which was great, and 2 toilet rooms too, yay! Beds were super clean and comfy, kitchen had everything we needed. Arnold is a super cute town with a very good Mexican restaurant and a nice grocery store. Big Trees Staye Park just up the road and such a treat!

What a special, peaceful place. Watched the snow fall, listened to the creek, enjoyed the wood burning stove and the little music zone. It felt like “home”. Robin was communicative and gracious. Was only disappointed I couldn’t stay forever.

Truly one of a kind cabin, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Love the decor and vibe of the place, feels like a time capsule straight from the 60’s. Very cozy and nestled nicely in the woods. Super helpful and friendly host! Would love to come back!
