The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows.  In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis.  While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime.  My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. Its a process, but I love what I am doing, and where the ranch is going.

We have great hiking in the near area and 5 miles away there is great mountain biking trails. A world renoun mountain bike spot with intermediate to experienced trails for riders of all levels. 5 miles down the road as well is buzzard lagoon and is a great Dirt biking/4-wheeling location. It is a fun spot for all off road inthusiast! Your camping site is on a flat plateu and is an ideal spot to park your trailer, motorhome or tent camp. With Complete privacy with views of the pacific ocean and South county's Monterey bay with a 180 degree view as well as San jose and Morgan Hill. For the wine inthusiast, Loma Prieta winery is 5.5 miles away along with Windy Oaks Winery that is 3.7 miles away that is located on the "Wine trail" that has alots of winerys to offer in a beautiful location. A Day of fun for the family at Gilroy Gardens that is 15.5 miles away. The beach is 30-40 minutes away with great surfing and body boarding up and down the coastline. When in route once you get off the paved road from north or south stay on the dirt road for 15-20 more minutes. The location is very private it is on its own parcel with a gate. This site is sheltered by the manzanitas and pines of this chaparral community. Adventure seekers will find paradise here!  Mount Madonna Park with miles of trails is 20 minutes down the road. You can dump your septic there as well!  Horseback riding rentals are located near the park as well as an archery range.  Demonstration forest is 15 minutes down the road, with miles of mountain biking. Spend a day at one of the beaches in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Rio Del Mar, Davenport, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, or Carmel and return to your private oasis. Or Explore Silicon Valley from this centrally located parcel. Kim Son Meditation Center and Mount Madonna Center are approximately 15 minutes away. There are also wonderful wineries throughout the mountains here. The trip to the site will begin with a three mile drive on a private dirt road.  Being on the very top of a mountain brings more seasonality than the surrounding cities.   Please be prepared for any kind of extreme weather. Summer: Shade is highly recommended it can get into triple digits. *Spring/fall: Temperatures are generally mild but high winds are possible. *Winter: Typically cold and windy. *During rainy/muddy conditions 4x4/AWD is highly recommended.  It is possible for it to get windy, foggy, rainy, hot and sunny, and even sometimes snowy. Please note: the nearest grocer is 30 minutes from this site. Emergency supplies are available for delivery to your campsite. Cell phone reception is good on most carriers.  Pets are allowed.  Enjoy your time howling at the moon, star gazing, bird watching/wildlife viewing, or relaxing with your favorite libation. Don't forget your camera! Since this is our first year renting our land we have found that August is a high wasp season time in the mountains. We are doing everything humanly possible to hunt down each and every Wasp for your enjoyment. With this in mind we ask you use the provided bug repellent, keep the lid to the trash closed, and do not pour grease anywhere you do not want wasps.

We stayed one night at 10000 Ranch in our 24-foot RV after booking very late in the evening when we could not secure a campsite near Big Sur. I am thankful that Edward accepted our last-minute reservation and communicated clearly. His PDF guide was helpful, although the directions and site markings could be improved, especially for guests arriving after dark. The roads inside the ranch were narrow and unpaved, with a few low tree branches that brushed against the RV. The site itself was level, spacious, and peaceful, but it required backing in. Finding the exact parking spot and the bathroom keypad in the dark was difficult. A brighter sign or clearly marked keypad would make arrival much easier. There were no RV hookups, which was clearly mentioned in the listing and was as expected. The garage bathroom had electricity, but there were several insects inside. Wi-Fi was available but spotty, although mobile data worked well. The best part of the stay was how quiet and serene the location was. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise with horses in the background, and there was no noticeable noise at night. The dirt road was solid to drive on, though it created some dust. At around $60 for the night, I felt the stay was worth it. With better nighttime markings, stronger Wi-Fi, and improved bathroom cleanliness, this could be a top-notch overnight RV stop. Overall, a peaceful and valuable stay. 4/5.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

What a spot for animal lovers, sunrise seekers, and water sports of all kinds. We have stayed here once in December and now in July. Both times were comfortable and relaxing. The AC unit is a must because it was hot! The lake water was 83 degrees and Jeremy provides floaties, and kayaks. The hike down and especially back up is strenuous and in the heat it was a lot. So just don't bring much down to the lake is the solution. Jeremy has thought of everything when it comes to convenience and comfort. There is a full refrigerator and freezer right by the cabin and we never had to buy ice. There is a clean porta potty for each cabin site too. We had privacy, a gas grill, a working sink and shower at our site. There is electricity inside and a very comfy bed and plenty of pillows. The view from the deck is so picturesque and relaxing. The horses, goats, dogs and chickens are free to roam the property and are so fun to interact with. The town of Murphys is a close drive with lots of restaurants and shops, the Mercer Caverns etc.

3 nights at The Painted Lake

It was a great new adventure and Jeremy was the best host ever! Bummer the lake was so low which makes the steep climb up and down to the lake that much farther, but we survived even in the 98 degree weather. We brought our paddle baddie board and loved all the kayaks to pick from. In think the first day we saw one fishing boat stand two ski boats the entire day. This was the first camping trip in my lifetime (and I live to camp) that I never once turned on music ( and I love music). We were so relaxed and we never had to drown out other campers on the private property, that we could just enjoy the sounds of the trees blowing in the wind, the animals on the farm, and just enjoy the great outdoors as a family. The kids loved collecting eggs daily if not twice a day from the coop, then cooking their own eggs, petting the horses, goats, and the big white herd dogs that had grown to love and protect us. Once you fire up the grill and pull the meat out, they will sneak up on you and be salivating to snag your goods fyi. So be prepared to let them know pronto if you are sharing or not.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The drive up to the location is beautiful and secluded. You are at the top of a hill, so the panoramic view is stunning. We stayed in a cabana, and it was small but did the job. Your view is breathtaking as you're tucked in the woods without other guests in sight. I will say it felt odd to be exposed at night, with large windows without curtains, but that is the magic of the place. The cabana does get hot since it's largely made of big windows, so if you're not a fan of heat, a callout. The hosts were welcoming and gave us a tour of the grounds.

Loved staying at the Hobbit Hideout! This a beautiful gem of a place to stay at to unwind. Met the host Yeyen who was so welcoming and made us feel at home. The Cobbins are one of a kind! The communal kitchen is really well stocked. Bathrooms and showers are clean. All brought together in a very aesthetically pleasing way! Will visit again and highly recommend!!

We had a great stay at this small campsite on Edward’s property. The campsite was peaceful, and having access to a clean toilet and shower in his garage was very convenient and much appreciated. The only downside was that there was a party in the neighborhood with loud music that continued until after 2 a.m., which made it difficult to sleep. This was outside the host’s control, but if the area had been quieter, the experience would have been even better. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, well-maintained campsite.

A group of us had a nice time camping here. The altitude above the clouds made for some great views and the night time temperature was beautiful. The provided fire and propane were very nice. I'd suggest updating the toilet and the cooking tops. The toilet situation was a bit of a downer for much of the group as it did not flush well and was pretty backed up. Lastly, the directions provided worked fine, but I'd say the written instructions could use an update. Despite this minor setbacks, it felt like a magical place to be on top of the mountain and we are grateful to have found it!

Great spot. A bit secluded from trails and an hour away from Santa Cruz but made for a great beach day in Capitola. Very sunny at this site so bring shade.
