We are exceptionally cautious with camp fires. If it is particularly hot and windy, there will be no fires. We now have a gas fire pit where you can create smores or just enjoy the campfire ambiance. Price is $175 for the Flying Pig (up to 5 total). Another option (as an add-on): you can pitch a tent for $45. "The Flying Pig" has a queen bed, bunk beds twin size, and a loft with a twin mattress, all bedding included. You are not just paying for a place to sleep; you are paying for an experience and the enjoyment of our property :-). We serve a continental breakfast (free) or hot breakfast ($35/cabin) between 8-9am. (we can accommodate vegetarian and dairy free diets; let us know before you come). We provide bedding and towels. There is A/C and a plug-in heater in The Flying Pig. Please do not bring additional things to plug in except for chargers for phone/electronic devices. We are approximately 1 1/2 hours south of San Francisco, 30 min south of San Jose (without traffic). Gilroy Gardens is 15 min away; Harvey Bear County park is 1 mile away; Monterey and Santa Cruz and the Pinnacles National Park are approximately 1 hour away. All of our sites are hike in sites. It's about a 1/4 mile hike on a small foot path. We have a wagon available for guests to use and we are happy to help you carry your things. We host a communal fire pit in the evenings, weather permitting, for all guests to enjoy, we do not allow open fires on the property. Cal Fire has requested that all campers get a permit, even to operate a gas stove. Our swimming pond is about a 3/4 mile hike through brush from the restaurant but is a great way to beat the heat during the day! Campsites have a picnic table. Water from our well is always available outside of the restaurant and bathrooms with running water are available during business hours. There is a fire trail along one of our ridge lines that offers stunning views of the San Antonio Valley as well as our abundant wildlife. We sometimes host speakers and educational workshops and guests are always welcome to participate in events. We are here in Gilroy Ca, on a rural 2 acres just outside of town, further up our road is Coyote Lake to go boating and fishing and Harvey Bear park to go hiking and horse riding. Santa Cruz is a 45 min drive West over hwy 152 and San Jose is 30 min North on 101 and keep going a bit more and you will be in San Francisco. Here at home we raise several different kinds of lives stock. Goats for meat and milk, Sheep for meat and wool and eventually milk, Pigs for meat, Rabbits for meat and hide, Chickens, Ducks and Quail for meat and eggs. We have a garden and small orchard with nearly a dozen fruit trees of different kinds : loquat, a few apples, plums, apricot, peach, fig, persimmons and my favorite the pomegranate! We process everything ourselves using ancestral techniques and love to share and learn with others. Id say the main draw back here is the traffic noise but beyond that, We are quite lucky to have very a green and Id say an oasis of a property, with multiple large palms trees surrounding the pool area and a large weeping willow tree in the main yard/sheep pasture. At the NE corner of the property is a very large oak tree, it is majestic and with the tipi door open to the East the big oak is the first thing you'll see every morning besides the suns rays! The entire Northern property line is rowed with 60ft tall redwood trees and there are a smattering of citrus trees around to boot! The freezer is stocked with in house meat, the BBQ is hot, the pool is cool, come relax after a day on the trails!

Mel’s treehouse is the coolest most relaxing and most well appointed Hipcamp you will ever find. Babbling brook? Check! Hot outdoor shower? Check! Adorable little treehouse studio camping? Check! Kindest, most communicative and friendly host in Mel?? Check! Just the absolute best experience. Composting toilet requires a tiny bit of knowledge which Mel kindly explained. Seriously can’t speak highly enough of this one. Great job Mel! Almost certainly will be back. The setting is easy (just park and walk up the steps!) but it’s a little ways into the mountains outside Corralitos, perfectly set in the redwoods. Amazing.

We had THE MOST amazing stay at The Painted lake cabin. Like every single review here, this place is so inviting and is full of warmth. The animals, the lake and the hosts themselves make the overall experience so worth it. Bathrooms were clean and the hot showers were functional. We are a big fan of Painted Lake and will 100% recommend it. We will definitely go again :)

Kim and her farm provides an amazing little country getaway, not too far from the Bay Area. This was our second visit and our 7 year old girls loved it even more. The cabin is perfect for glamping, the bathrooms are clean and there is so much entertainment for the kids, they didn’t ask once for their iPad! Lol. We loved helping feed all the animals and help Kim collect eggs. Make sure you add on the breakfast option- it’s the perfect ending to your stay.

The remote, rustic feel of the grounds combined with the luxury of a handcrafted bungalow was truly unique. The panorama of the lake through mature oak trees was magical. The kayaks and privacy of the lake made this a one of a kind opportunity. We highly recommend this experience to all who enjoy the unkempt wild of nature, glamping at it's finest, and are comfortable with moderate physical activity. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower feature.

We love this place so much! This was our second time. I highly recommend this place for anybody who feels the need to get away from the busy life. Kim, the camp host, is great with kids. Farm animals were fun to be around, and kids play whole day and night at the farm. They picked up fresh eggs in the morning. We also enjoyed s'mores and breakfast a lot! We are hoping to go back again soon!

This place was fabulous! The treehouse was cozy and the view was unmatched! We did some tent camping as well and there was plenty of space for that. The little kids in our party got a kick out of all the animals and my nephew got to hold a 2-day old baby lamb. The walk down and up to the lake was a bit of a hike, but not too bad. Jeremy was a fabulous host!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Super View Cabin! One of our favorite parts was all the animals—especially the baby lambs, which made the experience feel extra special. The walk down to the lake is definitely steep on the way down and a total calf-burner on the way back up, but it’s absolutely worth it. The views and peaceful setting make the effort pay off. This place was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. I’m a big sunrise person, and the sunrise here completely made the trip for me—just beautiful. We’d absolutely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway!
