Grass Valley is 10 minutes away as well and has more food, shopping, and entertainment for you. Access to the Yuba River is as close as 20 mins to Edwards Crossing and 20 mins to Hoyts Crossing on Highway 49. We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax. Each yurt has a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm. Each yurt has a kitchen that is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. Each yurt has a Queen bed with a heating blanket to help keep you cozy throughout the night. Each yurt has its own dedicated wood-fired hot tub. It requires a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot.  Things you might like to bring: headlamps,  robe,  flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes. Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious. The hot tub: it’s wood fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Shower before using it to wash off any oils please! The outdoor shower is lovely :) Fireplace: We will leave you a bundle of wood that comes with the rental. If you need more wood you can purchase it from us or from the grocery store. We have lots of wood at the yurt and we ask you to pay $10 per bundle if you use more then we leave you inside. This is on the honor system- It takes a lot of time and resources to keep wood stocked for the property. If you don’t know how to start a fire you may want to bring an instant log with you. Please leave the lighter behind for the next guest. Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. This is a real treat during our hot summers. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season. We live in the woods, there are bugs and wild animals on/or near the property. Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm. The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat. Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area. If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur. The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

We are closed for the winter with the exception for self-Contained RV's. Mesg me if you want a reservation FYI: We are a 15-acre lake and experience seasonal lows towards the end of the summer. I cannot predict what the lake condition will be in. Camp Watanda is a retired resident camp that we have converted to a vacation rental. We have 10 acres of wooded property, with the 4 camping kiosks close to the waterfront and 1 RV site on the waterfront and 1 tent site. The camping kiosk all have 8-10 mattresses, grilling table, picnic table, cooler, smoke alarms, rake, broom and fire extinguishers. We are pet friendly with 1 dog per kiosk. Tents can be pitched on the elevated decks. Our waterfront has a large fire ring, 2-covered pergolas, canoes, kayaks, life jackets and charcoal grill. Lots of fish in the lake, since this is a private lake, no license is required. There is also a bathhouse (very primitive and in serious need of remodel) close by with 3 showers, 3 toilets and 3 sinks. Up by the lodge is a cell phone charging station and Wi-Fi with Starlink connection. No dispersed camping. RV CAMPING: Because of the steep driveway and blind curve, we limit the vehicle length to 25 overall length. Our driveway is more suitable for RV's and Camper Vans and not Travel Trailers being towed. If you rent a kiosk, all campers must be on the same kiosk unless you rent a second kiosk. If you have a camping van and plan on using the van and the kiosk, then that is a second site. You cannot tailgate on a reservation just because the party only has 2 people on the kiosk, and you have 2 in the Van to make 4 people. These are tents sites on a Kiosk, there is parking for cars or trucks at the kiosk, not suitable for RV or Travel Trailers. Those vehicles will have to park at the waterfront parking lot. There are no refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of arrival. We reserve the right to adjust kiosk assignments at our discretion. NO SHOWS forfeit their site. Camp Watanda is private property, campers assume all liability for being on site. There is no lifeguard present. This is a natural habitat for woodland animals, there is an associated risk for camping in their home. Slips, trips and falls can occur on trails, camping structures and waterfront.

Coco is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras on our semi-private 4-acre property. Easy access to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the Yuba River. Coco the Airstream is fully functional with a kitchen and bathroom. There is one full-ish size bed that sleeps two comfortably in the bedroom area, and the couch can fold into one twin-sized bed. We are located about 15 minutes to town and 10 to the nearest grocery store. Coco the Airstream shares the property with a private family of four humans and two dogs in a house at the top of the hill. My parents are full time RVers and often stay in the other RV spot on our property throughout the year when they are taking a break from traveling. We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax. Each yurt has a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm. Each yurt has a kitchen that is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. Each yurt has a Queen bed with a heating blanket to help keep you cozy throughout the night. Each yurt has its own dedicated wood-fired hot tub. It requires a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot.  Things you might like to bring: headlamps,  robe,  flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes. Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious. The hot tub: it’s wood fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Shower before using it to wash off any oils please! The outdoor shower is lovely :) Fireplace: We will leave you a bundle of wood that comes with the rental. If you need more wood you can purchase it from us or from the grocery store. We have lots of wood at the yurt and we ask you to pay $10 per bundle if you use more then we leave you inside. This is on the honor system- It takes a lot of time and resources to keep wood stocked for the property. If you don’t know how to start a fire you may want to bring an instant log with you. Please leave the lighter behind for the next guest. Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm. The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat. Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area. If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur. The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

We are closed for the winter with the exception for self-Contained RV's. Mesg me if you want a reservation FYI: We are a 15-acre lake and experience seasonal lows towards the end of the summer. I cannot predict what the lake condition will be in. Camp Watanda is a retired resident camp that we have converted to a vacation rental. We have 10 acres of wooded property, with the 4 camping kiosks close to the waterfront and 1 RV site on the waterfront and 1 tent site. The camping kiosk all have 8-10 mattresses, grilling table, picnic table, cooler, smoke alarms, rake, broom and fire extinguishers. We are pet friendly with 1 dog per kiosk. Tents can be pitched on the elevated decks. Our waterfront has a large fire ring, 2-covered pergolas, canoes, kayaks, life jackets and charcoal grill. Lots of fish in the lake, since this is a private lake, no license is required. There is also a bathhouse (very primitive and in serious need of remodel) close by with 3 showers, 3 toilets and 3 sinks. Up by the lodge is a cell phone charging station and Wi-Fi with Starlink connection. No dispersed camping. RV CAMPING: Because of the steep driveway and blind curve, we limit the vehicle length to 25 overall length. Our driveway is more suitable for RV's and Camper Vans and not Travel Trailers being towed. If you rent a kiosk, all campers must be on the same kiosk unless you rent a second kiosk. If you have a camping van and plan on using the van and the kiosk, then that is a second site. You cannot tailgate on a reservation just because the party only has 2 people on the kiosk, and you have 2 in the Van to make 4 people. These are tents sites on a Kiosk, there is parking for cars or trucks at the kiosk, not suitable for RV or Travel Trailers. Those vehicles will have to park at the waterfront parking lot. There are no refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of arrival. We reserve the right to adjust kiosk assignments at our discretion. NO SHOWS forfeit their site. Camp Watanda is private property, campers assume all liability for being on site. There is no lifeguard present. This is a natural habitat for woodland animals, there is an associated risk for camping in their home. Slips, trips and falls can occur on trails, camping structures and waterfront.

Your stay here will be the perfect escape to Nevada City and the magic of the Yuba River. The property is located in the Blue Tent region of Nevada City. The region is a historic 19th century gold mining community that lies on a gold-bearing channel of an ancient river bed. Blue Tent was established in 1850 and named after its first dwelling, a tent made of blue denim. The community thrived, becoming a center for hydraulic mining. Before long, it had its own store, dance hall, blacksmith shop, boarding house and other buildings. Like the other communities in the region that depended on hydraulic mining, Blue Tent began to decline following the 1884 Sawyer decision. A farmer near Sacramento had sued the major mining company in state court to stop it from discharging mining debris into the Yuba River. This debris was destroying farmland downstream. By the early 1890s, the Blue Tent mine was closed Learn more about this land: Inspired by our own experiences traveling and staying in large comfortable bell tents we set out to create a setting we would want to stay in ourselves and share with you. THE PROPERTY The property is a largely flat and walkable 5 acres to camp and explore. We are 15 mins from downtown Nevada City and 7 minutes to Edwards Crossing on the Yuba River which is a great swimming spot. There are also many other great river and hike locations nearby. The location is close enough to be convenient but feels entirely secluded once you arrive. Our house and shop are on the property so we are typically around. THE TENT The tent itself is a large canvas bell tent. It is 16 feet in diameter and has a high ceiling so you can stand up and have plenty of space inside. We have a pillow top queen size bed in the tent with sheets, pillows and a down comforter. There are a few pieces of furniture including a vintage dresser, chair and a bedside table. We also have included some battery powered candles to create a relaxed low light environment if needed. THE CAMPSITE The campsite consists of the tent itself, a fire pit, some camping chairs and a picnic table. BATHROOM Full bathroom in the house which is a short walk from the tent. (see photos) The house is up a small hill and far enough away that you are completely private. Access to the bathroom is through the front door of the house and the bathroom is on the main floor near the entrance. The bathroom has a shower/bath, toilet and sink with shampoo and soap, towels, etc.  INCLUDED CAMPING AMENITIES We provide most everything you need to enjoy your trip. Just bring ice for the cooler and any food you wish! The list of included items is: -Two camping chairs with side table -Medium Size Igloo cooler -Flashlights/lantern -Wine Opener -Metal Camping Cups -Basic kitchenware including a pan, small pot, cooking utensils -Marshmallow roasting sticks -Grate for cooking over the fire (conditions permitting) -Blankets for around the fire (conditions permitting) -Water dispenser with filtered water from our well -Firewood (available for sale conditions permitting) FIRES We allow campfires at certain times of the year when it is safe to do so. We strictly adhere to local recommendations and Red Flag Warnings in the area. During the red flag, there is no use of outdoor fire pits, indoor wood-burning stoves, any type of open flame, fireworks, or smoking of any kind allowed on the property. Our property is lakeside at Rollins Lake In Colfax. We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. Renee's place was so peaceful and beautiful. The morning sun rising thru the trees created a wonderful place to sit and relax. Her trailer was cozy and well equipped. She generously provided so many things that made being there and cooking easy. Lots of spices, butter, oil, fresh fruit and treats. She really went above and beyond. The site was cute, with a picnic table, swing and running water. We took the drive down to the river (4wd needed) and the swimming hole was magical. Our hosts, Chris and Rebecca, were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Saturday morning, our car key’s remote battery unexpectedly died. Instead of having to call an Uber or drive into town for a replacement, they cheerfully produced a spare battery—turning what could have been a stressful moment into a reminder of their thoughtful hospitality. It’s rare to find a spot that combines natural beauty, convenience, and hosts who genuinely care, but this place has all three. Tucked away in the forest, this cozy canvas tent was the perfect peaceful getaway. The property feels secluded and quiet, surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds, but it’s still just a short drive to downtown Nevada City and the Yuba River. Everything was spotless — the tent, the linens, and the bathroom, which was just a short walk up to the main house and well stocked with everything you might need. The tent itself was super comfortable, with a real bed and a small heater that kept us perfectly warm on a chilly October night. The hosts provided everything we needed for an easy stay, including filtered well water (which tasted amazing!) and plenty of firewood. Our pup loved lounging outside and exploring the property, and we even spotted some mushrooms popping up after the rain. If you’re looking for a quiet place to unplug, listen to the wind in the trees, and enjoy the magic of the Yuba River area, this is it. We can’t wait to come back. 🌲

There is only one spot available at our property to reserve as we leave our trailer up there for most of the summer. The good news is you will have the place all to yourselves unless we happen to be there which is not very often and we will let you know if we overlap. This spot has a 30 amp RV plug and a sewer connection. There is no water or trash service so please bring your own water and practice pack in/pack out practices. This spot is for RV's only with a full restroom as we don't have restroom facilities onsite. This is a very quiet spot but does have a few neighbors within earshot so if you are planning on a party spot or having loud music this is not the spot for you. There is a large smoker/BBQ that is not maintained but is available for your use if you want, we have used it several times and it works great. There are three drive-in (parking next to) tent sites nestled in the trees and three walk in sites.  The neighbors appreciate their privacy and on occasion they may have music at night. The road: Trailers not recommended but perfect for those seeking a bit of adventure and enjoy driving back roads. Smaller trailers welcome but be advised of possible potholes, semi-steep grades, one-way traffic, and limited road signs. Please make sure that all drivers read driving directions.  Tent Spaces - 6 tent spaces with 4-person capacity. Parking next to sites 1-3 available for small vehicles. Tent sites 4 -6 are walk in sites. Parking for these sites is approximately a 3–5-minute walk. Prearranged small tent set up is available for all sites.   Spaces 1-3 combined work well for a group. Please include all individuals in your booking headcount including all children over the age of 1 year old. Dogs are welcome. Please remember to pay $5 per dog/ per night in the extras. Dog sitting available for 1 - 2 dogs at a time. Must meet dog first. Be sure to bring flashlights and lanterns, it does get dark at night!  Bring mosquito repellent. We are at 4000-foot elevation so it can be cooler here than in lower areas. Fire ban is in affect and therefore No fires are allowed in camp sites. Feel free to bring your own camp stove and food to cook. So many wondrous nearby attractions. Just a few miles away: Scott’s Flat Lake, Pioneer Trail (mountain biking), the historic Little Town of Washington next to the Yuba River, Historic Nevada City and Grass Valley, and the Yuba River. The Harmony Ridge Market and the 5 Mile House Restaurant are just a 10-minute drive. In about an hour’s drive you can be at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, Donner Lake, Tahoe National Forest, the majestic Sierra Buttes, Lakes Basin, Sacramento and Reno.

It is on this property that I saw my first grouse. Also look for warblers-notably Audubon's and the Hermit Warblers- along with the White-headed Woodpecker. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet.  Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.  The road on the property is a dirt road.  All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section.  There is one walk-in site at the top of the property. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake. On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

The kitchen is stocked for a cook with quality cooking equipment and is supplied with oils, sauces and spices. THE AREA RiverSea East is located on the San Juan Ridge, an area near Nevada City and Grass Valley that extends about 24 miles between the south and middle forks of the Yuba River. A small Nevada County community far removed from town, modern day North San Juan is part hippie, part isolationist, part new age and part conservative.It's only a 20 minute drive from downtown Nevada City, but since you have to drive up and down the heavily forested, windy river-canyon road, it feels rather remote. When you get there, it consists of less than ten businesses scattered around the mountains, a bushel of dreadlocked hippies, a bunch of pot farms, a vineyard, and LOTS of empty, undeveloped wood, making North San Juan a really beautiful place, surrounded, as it is, by forested mountains and rivers. North San Juan is a great place to explore. There's all kinds of hidden spots, neat places to go, river access with good swimming holes and little stores and cafes. This area is spotted with little organic farms, beautiful little houses and the occasional run-down looking trailer.Farm, house OR trailer, because North San Juan and the Ridge are so sparsely populated, every residence seems to have acres of property that the people are free to plant, enjoy or neglect at will. OTHER IMPORTANT STUFF PETS: Your well-behaved dog is welcome with advanced permission and agreement to our pet policy for an additional $10.00 per night. As this is a wilderness area with abundant wildlife, do not let your dog wander outside at night unattended. NEVER leave your dog unattended at the yurt or let them roam unleashed in the woods. Large pine, cedars and oaks surround the living areas and we have done clearing for fire safety without compromising the environment. There is an airconditioned bedroom inside, a sleeping loft with queen bed, a bath house with shower, connected by a deck in back and a small front covered patio. Access to the vegetable garden is included. We are happy to share summer vegetables. There are great night time sky views and sunsets as well. A new addition is a swamp cooler in the main room. The year round pond and creek along with level terrain make this a rare gem in Nevada County. A 5 acre parcel, but feels much larger as it is bordered by a couple hundred acre cattle/horse ranch and Wolf Creek. I love my little slice of paradise and look forward to sharing it with you. I live on site about 100 yards down the hill from the site and the terraced terrain make it quite private.
