I’ve had the pleasure to be the “caretaker” of this special land once inhabited by the Maidu Indians for the past 43 years. This is SPECIAL ground here and I’m sure you will feel the MAGIC!!! This 40 acres sits on the Yuba River Ridgetop. At the "Platform of Pleasure" you will enjoy 100,000+ acre views of protected land looking North to the High Sierra, minutes away from downtown Nevada City and 15 miles from Yuba River Trailheads. Firewood bundles are $1 per stick per stick, (when campfires 🔥 are allowed). There is a $15.00 dog fee per dog/per stay. You can add the dog fee to your booking or pay cash when you arrive. On our property like anywhere in the woods there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray. We offer a tent platform, as well as a canvas tent listing. Guests love staying here: "From the moment we arrived Chris was nothing but amazing. He helped us get settled in and even recommended some beautiful spots to hike/sight see. They are both so generous! The campsite beautiful and they did a very nice job supplying us with any materials we may need. Definitely coming back during the summer!"

This 40 acres sits on the Yuba River Ridgetop. At the Platform of Pleasure, you will enjoy 100,000+ acre views of protected land looking North to the High Sierra, minutes away from downtown Nevada City and 15+ miles from Yuba River Trailheads.  This site can accommodate up to 4 tents of people in the same group. We welcome children 8 years and older to this magical site. Upgrading to the “Little House” is an additional $35 per night and you can decide on using it on arrival. (Unless you previously booked it directly on the Hipcamp site) Payable via Cash. It has a comfortable queen-sized bed (bedding not provided). The little house includes an electric Generator for string lights and device charging, and typically lasts 2+ days, (generator recharges is an additional $10).  When you book 3 or more nights and choose to upgrade to use the little house we want to gift you one night at no charge. (A $35.00 value) The "Platform of Pleasure," is a private campsite for you and your guests only. Serenity awaits. If you prefer camping the generator (which is silent, gasoline-free, and safe) can be rented for an additional $15 for two nights. The reservation is for 2 guests. Additional guests are welcome $10 per person/ per night. (Up to 8 people total.) Firewood is $1 per stick (when campfires 🔥 are allowed).  There is a $15.00 dog fee per dog/per stay. Payable upon arrival. On our property like anywhere in the woods, there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray. When you turn off of Cement Hill Rd GPS can be confusing. Come down Bodie Ridge Rd approximately 1/8 of a mile, (STAY TO THE LEFT, DON'T TURN ONTO INDIAN SHACK, it is a private driveway) and park on the left off the road between the orange cones. The trail to the Platform of Pleasure is directly on the other side of the road from where you park.  If the Platform of Pleasure is booked, another option on this property is:  ❤️The Love Shack❤️. We are having a summer special. Just $89.00 per night, with a two-night minimum. This is for two guests. Additional guests are welcome at $10.00 per person/ per night. We want to welcome you to “The Love Shack” camping site. You will find a luxurious "glamping" bell tent included with your reservation. The tent offers a pillow-top queen bed. (Bring your bedding) Pillows for lounging and a beautiful forest for serenity. The "glamping tent" is available seasonally.  There are multiple flat sites that are tucked away in the shade if you would like to have friends or family join. This is a private site for the people in your group only. There is electricity at this site with string lights to add to your ambiance.  There is a hose with running water available as well.  Friendly, well behaved dogs welcome. $15.00 per dog/per stay. You can add the dog fee to your booking or bring cash and pay when you arrive. On our property like anywhere in the woods, there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray.  Our home is visible from the camping site where the bathroom is located in the basement about 40 yards away (no towels provided). Just minutes from the 💛 of Nevada City (Yuba River Trailheads 8-10 miles from the campsite.)  Firewood is $1 per piece. When campfires 🔥 are allowed. When you turn off of Cement Hill Rd GPS can be confusing. Come down Bodie Ridge Rd (STAY TO THE LEFT) (DO NOT TURN ONTO INDIAN SHACK, it is a private driveway.) Come down approximately 1/8 of a mile, turn into the driveway on the left, towards the main house. Call or text us upon arrival and we will help get you settled in. What an amazing spot! Chris and Rebecca are delightful and everything was clean and comfortable. The surrounding, Nevada city and south yuba river are also great spots that should be on anyone’s must visit list. Highly recommend staying here!

Chris and Rebecca’s place is the perfect gateway for relaxation and amazing views! They are also super responsive and kind. For a little extra comfort, we definitely recommend adding the little house to your stay! We love it there. Second time we visited and hope to go back again soon!

From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was special. The sweeping views and gentle quiet made it feel like a hidden retreat, yet it’s only about 11 minutes from the charming streets of Nevada City. Our hosts, Chris and Rebecca, were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Saturday morning, our car key’s remote battery unexpectedly died. Instead of having to call an Uber or drive into town for a replacement, they cheerfully produced a spare battery—turning what could have been a stressful moment into a reminder of their thoughtful hospitality. It’s rare to find a spot that combines natural beauty, convenience, and hosts who genuinely care, but this place has all three. We left feeling relaxed, grateful, and their thoughtfulness truly made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful spot with an amazing view of the Yuba river canyon and beyond. We slept in the Little house, it was very cozy. Chris and Rebecca are very welcoming and know the land and the area well.

Best hipcamp I’ve been to by far! So relaxing and unbeatable views. A flush toilet and hot shower were great bonuses. Quick drive to town. Book it, you won’t regret it! We will definitely be back. Thank you, Chris and Rebecca!

Chris & Rebecca’s place is perhaps the quietest camp I have ever stayed at. No noise other than nature, no lights in the near valley. Just leaning on the chair at the deck of their “Platform of Pleasure” cabin while taking in the breathtaking view was an experience worth savoring for hours in the sunset time… Our dog was also in heaven, with so much land to trot across. Chris & Rebecca were also super attentive and generous hosts. Highly recommended… We are definitely coming back!

This place is amazing. The view is breathtaking, that’s an understatement. We spent hours watching the view, the sunset and sleeping under the stars. Chris and Rebecca were so welcoming and kind. They gave us a tour of their beautiful space and helped us move our equipment to the space. They sent me a great curated list of hikes and places to visit during our stay and the two we were able to squeeze in were INCREDIBLE. The platform is better than we could have imagined. The perfect place for us. Private, and spacious. Well equipped with lighting, a gas grill, tables, chairs and a cozy bed with an indescribably beautiful view. The facilities felt well maintained and clean. The features are well thought through and allow us to set up quickly and focus on our vacation. Chris and Rebecca have built something really special out there. I have been to this area quite a few times, but this beautiful property gave me a new perspective on the place. We’re already planning our next trip.

Chris and Rebecca are wonderful host. The property is amazing and very well kept. There is a giant 40 ft swing that we all (adults and child) had fun trying out. Chris took the time to answer all our questions and help find the best spots to go swimming. This will be our go to spot to go to Nevada City moving forward! We didn’t want to leave.

Chris & Rebecca were awesome host. As soon as we got there, Chris was super helpful in showing us around and providing anything we needed. The platform itself was gorgeous. Space to just relax and enjoy sunset and or stargazing at night. The property itself had plenty to do like corn hole, ping pong, a really nice swing, and more. 10/10 site and we can't wait to be back!

Our group of 7 absolutely adored this camp site and our wonderful hosts. Chris is so welcoming and kind - he gave us the best tips for an optimal river day and gave a sweet tour of his beautiful property. The love shack was well decorated and very comfortable. The rest of our group had no trouble finding flat spots to set up camp nearby. The deck/hangout area has everything you need, including chairs, lighting, and a mister to keep cool! This place is very special. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Nevada City.

This is one of the most breathtaking and serene places you could possibly wish to camp, and it’s only about 10 minutes from town. Total peace and quiet, no light pollution, no sound from the neighbors. It is a little bit of a walk to the bathroom and to get water, but there are carts provided for schlepping your stuff. Hosts are incredibly helpful and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely tremendous views and beautiful property. We stayed in the glamping tent “Love Shack” closer to the house and it was a very comfortable stay. Running water, fans, and string lights were nice features. And it felt very cozy on the edge of the woods. Although, if you’re tall, 5’10” plus, I would recommend staying in the tiny cabin at the “Platform of Pleasure”. Due to how the bed needs to fit in the tent, you’re not really able to get your head to the top of the bed and feet can end up hanging off. My husband is 6’5” so this may be an isolated problem, but thought I’d mention it. 😂 Next time we come back we will book the “Platform of Pleasure” because you feel like you’re on the edge of the world up there. So tranquil. The feeling is unbeatable. We didn’t play, but they have yard games too! And beautiful art to look at on the property. We brought our goldendoodle and he absolutely loved it out there. Chris & Rebecca were great hosts and made sure we felt immediately welcomed and comfortable. If you’re in Nevada City area, I recommend getting out to their property. It’s a gem!

Stayed in the tiny house on the platform. Great hosts, great view, the platform is a comfortably set up for lounging, cooking, hanging out. The tiny house is cozy. It’s in a secluded setting, yet easy to find, and in close proximity to Nevada City and Hoyt’s Crossing.

The Love Shack
Chris and Rebecca were so warm and welcoming. The space was thoughtfully curated and nestled amongst beautiful trees. It was a great landing pad while traveling to sleep in a nice tent yet have the amenities like a bathroom and shower for comfort and ease! It was also a short drive into town, hikes and the river. I would definitely come back!!!

Beautiful spot! Close to Yuba river. Has electricity and surprise misters ( this was nice in the heat) Great stargazing! Highly recommend. Remember to carry mosquito repellent. They do have a fan there that helps. Chris and Rebecca welcomed us when we reached and left clear instructions. Really happy to have met them both.

My friends and I had a magical time on Chris & Rebecca's land. The views were amazing, we saw an owl, played ping pong, soared on the 40 ft tree swing, and got stellar recommendations from them on local swim spots. I felt comfortable being there as a queer trans person with my bay area artist friends.

Gorgeous setting, upgraded camping

Such a beautiful setting! Perfect for a camping/nature getaway without dozens of other campers around if you were to camp at a public site. Chris and Rebecca were so welcoming and full of local recommendations, but we still felt like we had the quiet we were looking for.
