Beautiful camp site nestled in the redwoods, perfect for a little getaway. Matt was very communicative and friendly too. We went with our toddler and had to be careful with some of the poison ivy and narrow paths but she loved it and didn’t want to leave. Would definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to Grey Oaks

I really liked the experience camping at Zak’s campsite. It was clean, well maintained and had all the amenities as described. The popcorn pot and popcorn were a fun touch. The location is conveniently located to a gas station but also very cozily tucked away such that you feel like you’re in wilderness similar to being in a state or national park. I would recommend.

Camping on Zak's property was amazing. He and Kristen were friendly and responsive. I recommend paying the couple dollars to park on site instead of in the guest parking lot simply for convenience. Poison oak is all over the place, but they cleared out the main parts of the campsites really well, just don't go exploring in the woods. They did have a washing station and poison oak specific soap/scrub as well as some calamine which was great. Property is just far enough out that it feels private and not too far from town that you can't make a quick trip if needed. 10/10- would highly recommend staying here.

Weekend Trip to Santa Cruz Mountains Staycation

second time here, first time flying solo. it was marvelous. the most quiet 4th of july ever. no noise. just peace. i watched movies, had delicious food that i cooked, had a nice hot shower, and was plenty comfortable hanging in the cosy bed. truly such a great staycation spot. rebekkah was truly so hospitable once again. so glad i booked last minute to enjoy a delightful second stay.

I was here just a few weeks ago and couldn’t wait to come back—so I did! That’s how much I love this spot. This time, I brought my mom and nephew for their very first camping trip, and it was perfect. The site is only about 15 minutes from town, which makes it super easy to grab anything you might’ve forgotten. There’s water available for washing dishes (so we only had to bring drinking water), and the composting toilet has been moved further from the campfire—yay! It’s still very convenient and easy to access (even with kids), but now there’s even more space to gather and relax around the fire. Such a thoughtful improvement. Can’t wait to come back again! It’s the perfect low effort, accessible camping. You still get the privacy, the redwoods, the peacefulness… but without all the effort it takes to camp in more remote places.

A hidden gem, I cannot recommend this site enough! I was driving in from a week long stretch of camping, and the relaxation & peace of the airstream was just what I needed. My dog and I enjoyed morning walks through the redwoods in this quiet, safe neighborhood. Rebekkah was quick to respond to any questions, all while maintaining our privacy. Comfortable bed, cute camper, all the kitchen amenities we needed, and good wifi connection to catch up on some work. I felt like we could stay here forever!

Camped here for one night on a long road trip and really loved it. The location is pretty easy to find even though we came in at sunset. The space is large and would be super fun with a small group. It was just me and my partner so we chilled and cooked dinner. The provided table was large and made it easy to cook outside under the stars.

We are committed to provide good beds and beddings because we know how important good sleep is (even when you camp!) so we just spent time, money and energy to replace all of our camping mattresses with memory foam mattresses!!! We had people swear that this is the best bed they ever slept in. The campground is located in a serene oak grove area of the property. Its a peaceful getaway with an abundance of bird varieties and occasional wild turkeys passing through. Take a stroll around our 5-acre property and catch a breathtaking sunset from the hillside. We're only 11 minutes away from Mount Madonna State Park and just 10 minutes from a local healthy grocery store and yoga studio. The beautiful Pajaro Dunes coastal area is just a 15-minute drive away, and the Santa Cruz Fairground is only two minutes away. Our location is surrounded by family friendly farms such as Gizdich ranch and nurseries, hence why it's considered the salad bowl of the United States. This is great option for those who like to bring all their own gear to camp, and don’t need or want all the extras. Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coastal live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands of North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. We have a beautiful 45ft waterfall with a koi pond, too. Property faces a westerly direction so there are amazing sunset views depending on where you are standing at the time on the property. We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees. There is wildlife like turkeys and owls and so much more (see our listing or our website). We have horses and a donkey, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. Hot shower and toilets. Forage for plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. Roughly 50 minutes to any city in the Bay Area, this site is ideal for any person looking for an adventurous getaway retreat. The Serenity and privacy make this an uncommon, yet ideal romantic place to stay. This site is sheltered by the manzanitas and pines of this chaparral community. Adventure seekers will find paradise here! Mount Madonna Park with miles of trails is 20 minutes down the road. You can dump your septic there as well! Horseback riding rentals are located near the park as well as an archery range. Demonstration forest is 15 minutes down the road, with miles of mountain biking. Spend a day at one of the beaches in Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Rio Del Mar, Davenport, Half Moon Bay, Monterey, or Carmel and return to your private oasis. Or Explore Silicon Valley from this centrally located parcel. Kim Son Meditation Center and Mount Madonna Center are approximately 15 minutes away. There are also wonderful wineries throughout the mountains here. The trip to the site will begin with a three mile drive on a private dirt road. Being on the very top of a mountain brings more seasonality than the surrounding cities. Please be prepared for any kind of extreme weather. Summer: Shade is highly recommended it can get into triple digits. *Spring/fall: Temperatures are generally mild but high winds are possible. *Winter: Typically cold and windy. *During rainy/muddy conditions 4x4/AWD is highly recommended. It is possible for it to get windy, foggy, rainy, hot and sunny, and even sometimes snowy. Please note: the nearest grocer is 30 minutes from this site. Emergency supplies are available for delivery to your campsite. Cell phone reception is good on most carriers. Pets are allowed. Enjoy your time howling at the moon, star gazing, bird watching/wildlife viewing, or relaxing with your favorite libation. Don't forget your camera! Since this is our first year renting our land we have found that August is a high wasp season time in the mountains. We are doing everything humanly possible to hunt down each and every Wasp for your enjoyment. With this in mind we ask you use the provided bug repellent, keep the lid to the trash closed, and do not pour grease anywhere you do not want wasps.
