Lake Oroville was created by the Oroville Dam, which the State Department of Water Resources completed in 1967 after 5 years of construction. Lake Oroville conserves water for distribution by the State Water Project to homes, farms, and industries in the San Francisco Bay area, the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California. The Oroville facilities of the project also serve to provide flood control and smog free generation of electric power in addition to recreation.
When the Lake is at its maximum elevation, it includes some 15,500 surface acres for recreation and 167 miles of shoreline. Recreation areas are spotted around the Lake and boaters can land at any point to explore the surrounding country. The lake offers a wide variety of outdoor activities including camping, picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, sail and power boating, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, boat-in camping, floating campsites and horse camping.

Thank you to all visitors who love this place for your patience as we continue to improve the features of the Campground. Stay tuned for progress reports. We hope to see you real soon. Visit, fish, or camp in a rare jewel forest, hidden in the Sierra/Cascade foothills, less than an hour's drive to Chico, Oroville, or Paradise. Surviving forests of mature cedars, pines, oaks, and madrones provide shady camping, fishing along the lake shore, or picnicing along the banks of the creek that runs through a recovering creekside area. Stargaze or fly kites in our Great Meadow or admire copious wildflowers and other native plants on over 80 acres of wilderness. We provide a variety of recovering wilderness areas near water faucets, pit toilets and an RV dump station. Our site features mature forests, grassy meadows, a year-round creek in a fire recovery zone. The site also features lakefront shoreline access for bank fishing, a central fire pit and lots of space for group camping. Fires are permitted in the central pit when weather allows. The Lake Concow/Konkow Campground is a wilderness sanctuary and houses many variety of rare and endangered plants, animals, and insects. Please be aware of and give respectful space to all of the residents of the park. The list of year round residents may include poison oak, thorny berry vines, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, deer, eagles, osprey, owls, squirrels, skunks, foxes, bears, mountain lions, snakes, bats, and more. Please be responsible for personal camp supplies and trash. The Campground is a Pack In/Pack Out location and garbage cans are supplied near the office house near the entrance. Good hiking shoes, protective clothing, and hats are recommended. All Campground faucets supply delicious, potable water tested regularly. The modern listings spell the name Concow, Ancestors spelled it Konkow. Both are correct, though may give different search results. There is plenty of room for parking large vehicles and for turning around. TOW VEHICLES MUST STAY THE DURATION OF THE CAMPING VISIT. Sorry, we DO NOT allow towed-in-and-dropped-off campers or 5th wheel trailers at this time. This may change as clean up work progresses through the year. Stay tuned for updates. Thank you.

The Sierra Sol Camp project has been hosting community events and friend gathering for years. We take great pride in extending a warm and welcoming space for all our visitors and extending the invitation to campers was a great next step.
We have listings ranging from yurts to shipping containers, an old water tower converted to a vintage trailer and canvas tents.
We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake.
On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink.
Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park is nestled amongst the pine-studded chaparral forest of the Sierra Nevada Foothills and is home to California’s largest hydraulic gold mine. The 3,000-acre park encompasses the town of North Bloomfield and the historic Diggins site, which allows visitors to step back in time and experience the boom and bust of the California Gold Rush. Visitors can see huge cliffs carved by mighty jets of water, results of the gold-mining technique of washing away entire mountains to find gold. Legal battles between mine companies and the downstream agricultural towns of Marysville and Yuba City ended this particular method of mining, and was the first environmental lawsuit in the United States. THE AREA
RiverSea East is located on the San Juan Ridge, an area near Nevada City and Grass Valley that extends about 24 miles between the south and middle forks of the Yuba River.
A small Nevada County community far removed from town, modern day North San Juan is part hippie, part isolationist, part new age and part conservative.It's only a 20 minute drive from downtown Nevada City, but since you have to drive up and down the heavily forested, windy river-canyon road, it feels rather remote. When you get there, it consists of less than ten businesses scattered around the mountains, a bushel of dreadlocked hippies, a bunch of pot farms, a vineyard, and LOTS of empty, undeveloped wood, making North San Juan a really beautiful place, surrounded, as it is, by forested mountains and rivers.
North San Juan is a great place to explore. There's all kinds of hidden spots, neat places to go, river access with good swimming holes and little stores and cafes. This area is spotted with little organic farms, beautiful little houses and the occasional run-down looking trailer.Farm, house OR trailer, because North San Juan and the Ridge are so sparsely populated, every residence seems to have acres of property that the people are free to plant, enjoy or neglect at will.

PETS: Your well-behaved dog is welcome with advanced permission and agreement to our pet policy for an additional $10.00 per night. As this is a wilderness area with abundant wildlife, do not let your dog wander outside at night unattended. NEVER leave your dog unattended at the yurt or let them roam unleashed in the woods. The Maple Creek Ranch and Tree Farm has been family owned and operated since 1934. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Denmark, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years.
There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence.
The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north.
While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and
fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking
*The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV.
Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.

This is dry camping so bring water and your kitchen. A porta party is provided near the yurt. Be mindful of poison oak and please dive 10mph on the gravel road to keep dust down for my neighbors and enjoy the only privets south yuba river access in Hipcamp responsibly.
Pack out what you lack in and absolutely no open fire on the property. Propane grill are fine.

Great stay! Quiet and peaceful. Our annual trip to Chico had a little rain, but didn’t spoil our very enjoyable cycle ride around the orchards.

3 nights at Perfect Getaway with Private Creeks
While looking for a place to unwind and connect in nature I found this gem. It was a bit further than I had originally planned to travel to but it felt so perfect that I decided to adjust my plans to make this my destination.
What an incredible spot. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to decompress. The amenities are cozy and perfectly done. The bed was super comfortable. The kitchen worked well and the bbq was in tip-top shape! Oh and the outdoor shower and tub - GLORIOUS!! What an amazing touch to be able to have a nice hot outdoor shower in the middle of nature.
I felt alone yet also close to "town" if I wanted to pop out and explore Nevada City or Grass Valley or to grab groceries. The location is idyllic along the banks of Deer Creek (raging pretty hard mind you - I wouldn't get in right now due to the heavy flow). The creatures were out - I had a friendly hare and a roaming wild turkey and even saw a baby deer.
This was a premium hipcamp experience and I could not recommend it more. 100 out of 10. No notes from this outdoors loving person. Thanks for sharing your place Joe!

What a beautiful peaceful place! Our little family totally enjoyed the weekend camping. The host was wonderful. He met us at the gate to make sure we knew where to go. The camp comes with 5gal water and plenty of space. Our dog absolutely loved it! Flushable toilet made camping feel glamorous.

Definitely a nice area to camp in a tent. Very peaceful and beautiful private land! Lots of forest to walk around at.The host was very kind and welcoming. They are even kind enough to provide a 5 gallon jug of well water, fire pit, picnic table, and a very clean flushable toilet to share. They have a beautiful little pond at the entrance to use and the best part is that they only have two campsites avaliable which are very spaced out from eachother given you your own private area. Definitely a go to place for some peace and quite and stargazing! Will be doing it again!

Weekend Trip to The Land: An Off-grid Refuge
Second time back for us and even better than the last time!
This property and the camper bus are UNDERRATED. The accommodations provided are above and beyond a normal HipCamp site. We felt truly like guests and very welcomed the whole time.
Rachel is a phenomenal hosts who treats her guests with much respect and is easy to build good energy with. The more we have gotten to interact the more she has been able to show us how welcoming and passionate she is about what her property offers to those that she lets enjoy it.
We got to walk around the massive property this time, and Rachel gave us good direction to explore the creek, two ponds, and even let us help feed a beautiful older (bit grumpy) horse 🐴
The only tip I’d recommend if you’re not the best sleeper is to bring a mattress topper or some camping mats. The mattress in the bus is a bit old and is not the most comfortable. But for a camping offering it is welcome to have a bed provided at all so not a real complaint, just a tip!
If you’re thinking about it, BOOK ! you won’t regret it.

We had a magical, connective, peaceful, fun, relaxing time at Seirra Sol this week.
The common spaces are beautifully set up with everything you need to enjoy the natural setting Deja and her team have nurtured. The main house was perfect for our family, including my partner and our 2 teenagers. We enjoying making pizza in the wood-fired oven, grilling steaks in the outdoor kitchen, soaking in the outdoor tubs and roasting marshmallows over the unique hanging fire pit.
When we weren’t relaxing at camp, we were exploring the Yuba River and Bullards Bay Reservoir.
We will definitely be back, and bring our friends!

Weekend Trip to Ridgetop Ranch
This was truly a magical experience from start to finish. I can literally write a short story on the amazing trip me and my friends had. Chris and Rebecca are truly some of the most amazing people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They truly made us feel at home at every step of the way. Chris and Rebecca went out of their way multiple times to make sure we didn’t have to need for anything. We were at the pleasure platform. We rented the little house as well and it is 100% worth it if you’re doing this spot. It’s nice and cozy and a getaway from the elements if needed and the bed is super cozy. It was 3 of us and we stayed 3 nights so each of us got to have the little house to ourself 1 night and 2 in the tent rotate. We were so close to our activities it felt so nice and not stressed out. everywhere we went away from the campsite was about a 15-20 minute drive. We went to Hoyt’s crossing trail and nude beach. We also went to deer creek trail which was so cool and relaxing. It has a super cool suspension bridge and easy access to the to the flowing creek below it. We also went into the little cool town and it was super jumping. Great vibes to pop out to while camping. Swing set, ping pong table, and more cool things to do provided by the hosts. They hosted a movie night with the projector..They supplied us with a generator that basically lasted the whole 3 nights for us at no extra charge. You can hike on the property as well it’s huge. Privacy was always respected. The best!

Wonderful secluded property, self check in was seamless and we didn’t see or hear another person on the private 150 acres for the entirety of our stay. The tiny home was clean and well organized, the instant hot water heater worked great for our outdoor shower and tub. This was definitely my two dogs favorite trip as they were free to roam and enjoy the property unleashed. Joe had a tent set up outside of the cabin which the kids enjoyed sleeping in. The endless supply of conveniently placed fire wood for the provided smokeless fire pit was perfect for the cold nights along with the heater/ac in the cabin. Lots of creek access which you can hear well from the cabin. Grill was clean and had every you would need to cook inside the cabin or at the grill. Multiple restrooms was also a plus. Swimming holes were fun and safe for the dogs
And kids. AT&T cell service was good enough to communicate with the outside world if needed. Bed and pillows were comfy and clean. The lighting at night was perfect. Got a good nap in on the hammock after a long day at the creek. Lots of turkeys. Trout spotted in creek. Easy drive down. My 14yo son drove the car for the first time around the property a bit. Shot some cans with pellet guns.The add ons are well worth it btw. We can’t wait to go back, absolutely beautiful and a place where time slows down and you can enjoy your family & nature without distractions or other people near by. Thank you Joe, can’t wait to come back.

Awesome place for a woodsy getaway! The outdoor kitchen is a dream to cook in and hang around. we took a great walk down to the yuba and were all by ourselves at the end of march. It’s a beautiful place and the host got us set up with everything we needed!

The Yuba Yurt is a such a gem! Excellent location for exploring Nevada County and the Yuba River— about 20 mins to Nevada City and easy river access in either direction. The Yurt was well stocked with all the comforts of hike and lots of special touches.

My family loved spending the weekend here with the 2 dogs! So relaxing and peaceful, minus the dusk mosquitoes 🥲 it was so nice of Kristin to provide us with their well water and we had easy access to get more firewood when we needed it. The bathroom is the cleanest “outhouse” we have ever experienced - blessed! 😂 Kristin’s family is incredibly welcoming and we’re thankful we got to stay here. Internet also worked well and it’s a short, nice walk to the lovely pond. We took the little paddle boat out during the golden hour when the sky is changing colors and it was breathtaking. Highly recommend this spot!

16 ft rooftop tent
This is a very unique setting to camp. Our host Alyse was very hospitable, made us feel at home at our site, and communicated very well. We had such an amazing view of the sunset and sunrise over her vineyards. The site is a large leveled concrete and it was nice not having to set up leveling blocks for our roof top tent. There are very clean spacious bathrooms a short wall from camp. We loved being able to taste her wine and spirits on the weekend, which I have to say were delightfully unique. We had a great time talking to her about wine and travel. One of our favorite outdoor experiences to date. Thank you Alyse!
