This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study. We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects. You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. An RV must be under 12' to fit under the covered space. I offer 4 dry camping options. You can book the Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. An extra vehicle is OK as long as it's part of your one campsite. 2 groups with 2 camp vehicles is 2 campsites. I also have the Pool House, an indoor option with a power outlet, and it's close to the pool and restroom area. You can set up your bed or rent a full size bed which I will set up for you. This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff. I have WiFi and great cell service here. You MUST arrive by dark unless arrangements are made in advance. I will greet you and show you around. I close my gates at dark. Once you are here you may come and go as you please. I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10. Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a breakfast room with clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker available for your use. Lots of local birds visit daily. You are welcome to visit and pet my horses and donkeys!

The farm animals do cluck, crow, whinny, neigh, baa, bleat, squeal, and oink at various times, including early morning. The nearest services and dining are 5 minutes away. We are about 25-30 minutes to Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, and the popular red rock hiking sites. Pinetop Lakeside are within 10 minutes, Taylor and Snowflake are within 15 to 25 minutes. We hope you visit and continue to keep our environment clean and a chill spot to visit. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. I loved camping at Lori’s Field. It was perfect for our needs traveling with a 19’ Sprinter van and also rented #1 cabin, due to my husband getting a bad cold and wanting to allow him to be in his own environment for rest. The cabin had all the necessary facilities including shower, toilet and sink. Along with a microwave, kerig coffee pot and small fridge. Also grateful for the electric hookup for van. Easy directions and close enough to town for all your needs.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hawk’s Hideaway! The property is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of shade from the large trees throughout the campground. Each site had a nice picnic table and fire ring, which made meals and evenings by the fire super convenient. The porta potties were impressively clean—definitely some of the best we’ve seen at a campground. The kids had a blast exploring and playing around the property, and they especially enjoyed watching the cows and horses at the neighboring ranch. “Buddy,” the owners’ friendly dog, was another highlight—our kids looked forward to every visit from him! We even spotted a few deer wandering through in the early morning, which made the experience feel extra special. Access to the Verde River was easy, even with several young kids (all under 10), and it made for a perfect little adventure. The campsite was very easy to find and access, and overall, the stay was peaceful and family-friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back—highly recommend Hawk’s Hideaway to anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic getaway in Cottonwood!

Very close to Verde Adventures Kayaker Pick-Up spot for Kayakers (walking distance), and not too far from Beasley Flats, (a few of minutes by car.) Love the private property access to the river for OTTERLIMITS users only. (walking distance). Would recommend a 4WD if not walking to this part, it was rutty and muddy. You don't want to get stuck! OTTERLIMITS had a big fire pit, big opening in the trees for Astronomy viewing, took my spotting scope, it was nice. Also used for birding, saw many gaggles of geese in formation flying south for the winter. There was plenty of kindling around to start a fire. Gene was a gracious host, offered some fire wood if we needed it. Loved the distant sounds of cows and coyotes in the background, and fall leaves in some areas. I highly recommend this spot. But don't go so late in the season like we did (Late October), unless properly prepared. We did okay, but kept an eye on the forecast the entire month before leaving. We prepared for 47 degree weather as the low, but it got down to 34 degrees. Much lower than predicted. Think it had to do with being so close to the water, as opposed to the town of CAMP VERDE, and the fact that the recent monsoons still left many areas (especially by the river) extremely wet and muddy. We couldn't even get close to the river without walking thru about 30 feet of mud. Almost slipped about a dozen times. Would highly recommend going before the monsoons or weeks after to let it dry out. Thanks Again GENE!

This worked out perfectly for our cross country road trip. We arrived late and left early, so we couldn’t enjoy the amenities, but it looked like a fun place. There was a pool and a hot tub. Some cabins and tent areas. Ample parking. Very secure. Requires a gate code for access to the property. Easy to find.

Pretty well kept. Porta potties were clean which I dont see often so that was awesome. Sites are pretty, you get to wake up to nearby farm animals which I liked. Overall good experience. Sites are dirt so if its rainy would be muddy but should be fine as long you choose a elevated spot for your tent so gravel would make these Sites perfect but still a good experience and safe area so worth a stay imo

Meadview Arizona was founded in 1826 by Jedediah Smith on his Southwest Expedition in search for Beaver! Staying a small remote and quiet town it can feel like it would have in the Wild West. We obtained our campground from a couple that owned it for 20 years but just weren't able to do to it what they had originally planned.. So it was essentially a blank canvas for us to create!! We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center.  Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River.  We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc. Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available.  We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall. We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway Free WIFI provided at the office!..  The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels.  However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service! There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar.  We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees.  There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

A fantastic campsite built by independent outdoor company @hetchyoutdoors This is a remote, private campground with a canopy, picnic bench and fire pit that relieves you from the crowds of hotels and RV campgrounds in the area. There are no predators or threats to worry about at night, just the the most stars in the sky you've probably ever seen. We have one RV space (campsite only-No RV) with full hook ups next to a shared beautiful pool and gazebo. Your RV space has a pedestal with three optional plugs: 50/30/20 amp plugs. All have breaker switches. This RV pad is decomposed gravel and has it's own brick patio. Your RV space is separated via brick wall, vinyl, and pool fencing. The entire property is a quarter acre in a quiet Mesa AZ neighborhood, just North of Gilbert, highway 60, and close to shopping and restaurants. The RV pad is accessed via a 25 foot wide drive up to a 14 foot wide RV gate. Your vehicle will sit on level decomposed granite. Your RV pad is 80 feet long and 20 feet wide. In addition, you have approx. 20'x20' brick patio for chairs, table, and outdoor living space. You can lock up your space via the RV gate, then come and go via the locked walk through gate. I have lived here for 7 years. Initially it was a farm then I downsized, now it’s just corrals and some farming. Dates, orange, lime, lemon, Eucalyptuses, many types of cactus among other plants and flowers. Some fruits are available depending upon the season and pollination by the bees. I do a lot of recycling so if you can’t see the beauty in giving things more than one life and one use this may not be a match. It is 10 acres 2.5 is fenced in. Water, toilet, shower, place to do dishes. Electricity for a phone tablet tv simple for CAMPING. There is a septic that can be used if you stay over a week and if there are more campers we share. Some campers have used their own power source I don’t care about the noise I’m from NY you can’t top Train 2. Extra light extra money for APS. I have dogs and cats as guest please be aware It’s a durt road for camping but I’m walking distance away from the pavement. Exit of Wintersburg on the I10. Dollar General and Wintersburg General Store a mile away. Power station can be seen from home. God loves us with our differences and I love you too. Jesus loves you.
