Wild Burro Desert Retreat
Awesome Campsite
We loved camping at Bob and Cindy’s Wild Burro Retreat. The hosts were very accommodating when we arrived and helped get the trailer in place then left us to our self’s for the remaining 4 days. There is so much to do in the area and having the preserve right across the street for hiking and bike riding was great. We look forward to a return trip when back in the area. A private little piece of beautiful desert.
Thank you

Amazing desert views
First of all Bob and Cindy have an awsome piece of property with the most amazing desert views. The sunsets are so beautiful it's hard to believe they are real. You will likely hear the coyotes barking and yipping at night and may get lucky to see some strolling down the road during the day. The location is perfect, close enough to town to have the essentials and dove mountain is beautiful. Bob and Cindy make everything easy from the moment you get to camp. They went above and beyond to help us feel at home while staying on their property. 10/10 would highly recommend!

This was a very nice place to stay, not too far off the highway yet still totally private. Having water and power available while being so quiet was a really nice option, we had an amazing sunset. The hosts were very communicative and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Private Desert Retreat 🏜 ❤
Wonderful private feel! Easy access up the private drive at the base of Tortolita Preserve Trail Head. The preserve is just across the street from the camp area. Which allows for great views, amazing sunsets and rises, as well as lots of animal sightings and sounds. Every night we heard owls, bats, coyotes and more! Overall it really feels like you're way out camping alone but with all the luxuries of electricity, water and cell coverage. Backing the Dove Mountain suburb there's plenty of shops and restaurants!
If you book, make sure to drive W Moore Rd to N Wild Burro Rd. Very easy back in with huge wide driveway. The private dirt road is quiet and perfect for walking the dogs, feels like your very own private hiking trail.

Private oasis in the desert! The site was everything we could have hoped for; quiet, beautiful, across the street from some fun single track. Bob and Cindy were welcoming hosts and we definitely plan to go back.

OUTSTANDING LOCATION AND HOSTS
Spectacular secluded natural peaceful safe level single large campsite. Electric 30Amp plus Water Hookups, completely surrounded by Sonoran Desert vegetation and Saguaro cacti. Campsite located Marana, AZ, adjacent to Marana Tortolita Preserve and it’s Multi-Use Trail System. Campsite entry via well maintained 0.7 mi. level dirt road. Drive 7-10 min. to Restaurant/Bar w/indoor-outdoor dining, Fuel Pet Clinic, Grocery (Fry’s/Kroger). Drive 20 min. to Free Dump: Speedway Gas Station (Dump/Propane/Gas/Diesel 24 hrs.) 10505 N Oracle Rd., Oro Valley, AZ 85737 and Laundromat: Super Cleaners, 4140 W Ida Rd., Tucson 85741 ... 20 min to center Tucson ... 25 min. To Camping World.
Trash and Recycling pickup just steps from campsite.
Hosts Bob and Cindy respected my privacy (as I did theirs), but were always available for information or assistance.
Recommended visits: #1 Saguaro National Park “West” (20 min) then Saguaro NP “East” (30 min) , #2 Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (20 min-Close to Saguaro NP West), #3 Mt.
Lemmon Scenic Byway, #4 Sabine Canyon, #5 Prima Air and Space Museum.
I camped Mar/Apr/Mid-May 2021, MotorHome 25 fl. (Campsite RV Max 34 ft.). Almost every day I walked or rode my bike directly from campsite on the relatively flat adjacent Totolita Preserve Trail System and/or the 0.7 mi. flat entry dirt road (Private Road and Safe with very little traffic).
Perhaps the best Natural Campsite and Hosts and Hospitality you will ever experience!

Wild Burro Desert Retreat
This was our first experience with hip camp and it exceeded expectations. Bob and Cindy are amazing hosts. They sent helpful information before our trip and left an awesome welcome basket for our arrival. Their camp site was easy to park a large camper and was very clean and a great set up. We loved that it was so quiet and enjoyed stargazing at night. Will definitely be back in the future!

Peaceful Desert Getaway
We had such a wonderful stay! The welcome sign and goodies on the picnic table made us feel so welcomed and right at home. The location is excellent right next to a nature preserve, no noise from the town and amazing stars. The hosts are on property, but this site is secluded so you feel like you have plenty of space. They even have a desert walking path for the guests! Can’t wait till our next visit. Only thing I would have changed would have been to book for more nights before it filled up!

Our family had a wonderful time at this camp site (2 adults and 3 kids ages 3-7). Hiking and biking trails nearby, a playground for the kids less then a mile away and beautiful desert sunsets. We visited Saguaro national park about 25 minutes away. You feel like you are in the middle of no where. Cindy was very quick to respond to any questions I had. The site was easy to find. We would definitely recommend this campsite if you are looking for a private retreat in the desert! We hope to return someday!

Incredibly beautiful and peaceful!
Cindy's property was absolutely incredible! We loved being directly across from the Tortolita Preserve and hearing the coyotes "sing" us to sleep every night. Cindy and Bob were unbelievably hospitable and responded to our messages nearly immediately. We were able to complete a contactless stay because of COVID and that was a true relief. The space for parking is very big with room left over to play frisbee with our dog. Trash/recycling services were provided as well as water and electricity (coordinating payment options). I would absolutely recommend this stay as it was a peaceful paradise in the corner of the sprawling Tucson metroplex. Really a slice of desert heave.

Quiet desert oasis!
Wild Burro Desert Retreat was fantastic! It was exactly what we had hoped. A quiet, secluded area in the beautiful Tucson desert, yet close to fun things to do! Bob and Cindy are the best! They were on site for any help we needed, especially for us novice campers! The site itself was level and very clean. They had water and 30 amp for the camper. They provided 2 clean trash cans, a picnic table and a few extras to make our stay even more pleasant. To get to the site was a breeze! Paved road until the last mile and even that last mile of dirt road was fun with it’s up and downs right in the heart of the desert! So beautiful!! I would highly recommend Wild Burro if you want a true southwest desert experience close to the city!

Absolutely beautiful! We’ll be back
We live less than an hour from this beautiful site and wanted a quick getaway that was close, yet still felt like we left the world behind. All we can say is WOW!! We discovered a desert paradise! Even being familiar with the desert, this site offered desert beauty and sunsets that amazed us. Bob and Cindy had the site looking amazing with so many extra little touches, we felt like the whole thing was created just for us. We enjoyed two beautiful nights of starlit skys. The hook ups for this site were thoughtfully located and allowed us to enjoy a variety of activities (we set up our gear and watched a movie outside one night as we sat around our propane fire pit). We took our little guy for a hike in the Tortolita Preserve which was another huge bonus! We all loved exploring there for hours. We plan on coming back and bringing our mountain bikes to explore the bike paths there. With the Ritz Carlton nearby, and million dollar homes all around, this site is perfectly situated to offer seclusion and privacy and the feel of being alone in the middle of the Sonoran desert. Wild Burro Desert Retreat just became our go-to spot for a quick escape. For a beautiful, safe, clean, secluded yet convenient getaway, we 100% recommend this site and the hosts!!
