If you have children, they are welcome to play with all of our boys, on their trampoline and play equipment, and enjoy the animals that live on our property as well.
There are countless amazing local stores, and many natural attractions to visit nearby to rock hound, hike, swim, boat, and fish. There is also, an extensive trail systems to enjoy on your bikes, quads, and sleds close by.
We are very child and pet friendly as well! Being newer to hipcamp, our campsites are always evolving and improving. So if you have visited in the past and enjoyed your stay, you can be certain it will be even better this time around :)

The Property
Our 44 acres include a remarkable variety of natural landscapes, each with its own character:

• 🌲 Forest trails leading toward the adjoining Crown land

From the elevated Canadian Shield rock and the meadow below, guests can enjoy an unusual combination of rugged Northern Ontario wilderness and peaceful ranch scenery. The open fields, distant horses and changing evening light create an atmosphere reminiscent of the European countryside.
W-Ranch is privately owned neighbouring property and is not part of the campground. Guests are asked to respect the property boundary and enjoy the ranch views from our land.
Beyond our property boundary are approximately 200 acres of adjoining Crown land, offering additional opportunities for hiking and backcountry exploration. Guests are responsible for following all applicable Crown land regulations and respecting the natural environment.
Camping Areas and Privacy
The campground is divided into three distinct camping areas:
• Meadow
• Lakeside
• Shield
The lakeside hosts up to 4 groups, the meadow up to 5, and the Shield a single group. Depending on current bookings, several groups may be staying on the property at the same time. The campsites are thoughtfully spaced to provide guests with comfortable personal space and a good degree of privacy.
However, booking an individual campsite does not include exclusive use of the entire 44-acre property or the lake. The lake, forest trails, Crown land access routes and certain common outdoor areas may be shared with other registered campground guests.
Because the property is large and the three camping areas each have their own landscape and atmosphere, guests can normally enjoy a peaceful, spacious and uncrowded outdoor experience even when other groups are staying on the property.
Guests who would like exclusive use of the entire campground for their family or group are welcome to contact the host before booking. Depending on availability, group size and specific requirements, dates and pricing for a private campground booking can be arranged separately.
The Lake
A secluded 10-acre inland lake borders the property and is especially beautiful during the spring and fall. There is no public road or public boat launch directly on the lake, so the setting is normally quiet and undisturbed.
Although the lake cannot be reached by a public road or public boat launch, other registered campground guests may also use it. Unless exclusive use of the entire campground has been arranged in advance, the lake is not reserved for any one individual campsite or group.
Lake conditions change naturally with the seasons. During the warmest part of summer—most commonly in July and August—floating aquatic vegetation and duckweed may accumulate along the shoreline closest to the campground. When this occurs, the immediate campground shoreline is not suitable for swimming or launching a boat.
Clearer, more open water can generally be found approximately 150 metres farther along the shoreline. Guests whose main priority is swimming, paddling or boating should plan to use nearby Killbear Provincial Park or Georgian Bay, where excellent public water-access options are available.
A 12-foot aluminum boat with a four-stroke motor may be available to rent when lake conditions permit. The rental fee is $60 per day, including fuel. Please confirm availability and lake conditions before booking the boat.

Access, Shared Areas and Respect for the Land
The lake is bordered by our private property and adjoining Crown land, with no public road or public boat launch directly on the water. The area is secluded and normally very quiet.
However, Crown land remains publicly accessible, and several groups may be staying at the campground at the same time. Complete exclusivity of the lake, trails or property therefore cannot be guaranteed unless private use of the entire campground has been arranged with the host in advance.
Please treat the lake, forest and surrounding landscape with care, follow Leave No Trace principles and leave the property as you found it.

Although the setting feels remote, cell reception is strong throughout most of the property thanks to a nearby tower—giving you peace of mind without sacrificing peace and quiet.

We also sell other local products. We let campers stay in our parking lot where they can enjoy a beautiful sunset and many hiking trail just minutes away from us.
We now have a bathroom available to you outside of store hours. Please note we are on a septic field system and no sanitary items, food or grease should go down the toilet or sink. Please do not wash your dishes in our bathroom. Please do not dispose your garbage in the bathroom garbage.

Campers can walk down to the river and maybe see a beaver hard at work. Campers will not be allowed to walk to the farm as insurance won't allow us to host campers when we do. Please do not drive around the building or pitch a tent on our septic field. There is a black mailbox by the front doors where we will put a welcome package for you. This has a map and websites of hiking trails and other businesses in the area . There is a lake about 12 min drive from us with a nice beach. We will provide a pick nick table, unless other campers are using it. A short walk from us is a small Catholic country church, and you can walk to the Slate River Bridge on Hwy 608 and on Hwy 61.

The terrain is pink granite with soft spots for a tent or solid ground to park your trailer (sorry no hook ups or liquid waste removal). There's a picnic table, firewood and private toilet included. Whether you prefer to be in sun or shade, both are available at this site. As much as we are sheltered from the County road, traffic can be heard at times.

The winery offers free tastings of its wonderful fruit wines and ciders and at certain times of the year they offer delicious wood-fired pizza. Belly's is known for it's creative casual dining and live entertainment and is located in the heart of Catalina Bay.

We had a great time on Gerry’s land, and he made us feel very welcome and at ease throughout our stay! It was a lovely romantic weekend thanks to the sound of the stream and the cozy setting with all the fairy lights in the trees everywhere. Gerry takes pride in his setup and it shows!

I loved tent camping here! Perfect amount of space, not too many lots but still private. We got to paddle board/kayak on the river together and that was probably the highlight of the trip!! Sites are a little walk away from parking so just plan with that in mind.

I had wonderful time camping on Gerry's land. Site #3 is very cozy and has lots of led lights creating this unforgetable atmpsphere. Fishing is available from ramp that is right on the water. Kayak or canoe can be also launched from there. Gary is a great host with amazing personalities. Always helpful, funny, caring of his campers, etc....should be voted host of the year!

This was the second time renting a site at Gerry's campground (two guests and our two dogs) . They are all great sites but recommend the "Eagles Nest". Very private with water access off the dock and some shore access, although the water was high. Gerry is a great host and we will definitely be coming back again. If you're going to camp, camp at La Nation Bedrock 🤘

Had a great time visiting, gerry is an awesome guy. He went above and beyond For us. The camp site was perfect. it was quiet and relaxing, and enjoyed the lights around the camp grounds. Our original camp site we picked (lovers nest) was to small for our tent so Gerry gave us a new site. Would recomend a 3 person tent for the lovers nest site, it overlooks the river and has stairs to walk down to the river. All in all we had a blast thank you Gerry for your great hospitality.

We stayed at the Old Cedar campsite and it was a secluded paradise. Kelly was very communicative and helpful!
We brought an extra wagon to haul our gear the 10-minute walk into from where we parked—and we didn’t regret it! Our toddler enjoyed looking for mushrooms, snails, toads, and apples in the apple orchard. There is an amazing swimming hole in the river just across the road.
We stopped at Hearts restaurant for a special lunch and Kimberley’s General Store for fresh bread one day. Highly recommend!

Tent camping on the lakeside site was incredible. Giant space to work with, two campfire set ups (one right in front of the water’s edge). You get sun from morning to night including a great sunset over the water. but there’s also enough trees to keep cool when you need. Two other campsites on the property are far enough away you feel like you have the whole bay to yourself. The side of the water i was on was murky but if you paddle out to the other side it’s clean and deep and great for swimming and hanging out on your SUP. Andy was there when i arrived and again when i was packing up, he was very friendly and helpful. Don’t overlook the note in the description about parking being a little away, it is a walk-in campsite. not far, but far enough for a heavy bin to feel very heavy. (Thank you Andy for helping me with your wheelbarrow).

Pine forest, wide rope hammock, calm lake like riverside spot was the best part of being on this sweet, rugged, private campsite. It felt safe and private though the road traffick was closer that my liking. Earplugs for sleep do the job though.
Chris and Leah was super kind, generous, chill, and industrious creatives. The ride down and up to and from site was a super fun part of the experience.
I've been really considering returning with my kids and renting the cabin as it's a very kid friendly place, with a water trampoline, kayaks, floatingmat, slide/Treehouse, and enough trail to run around.
If a music, sports event or opportunity comes up nearby, it's a definite return, making the long drive from GTA worth it!

Gerry was an amazing host! One of the best experiences so far, super friendly and welcoming. He was amazing helping bring all our camping gear to the campsite on his ATV. He showed us around and was always responsive whenever we had questions or needed something. Would highly recommend, you will not regret!
