Highland Farms N Stables

Really quiet, green and clean land to come and check out! Night skies were beautiful and the horses were pretty awesome! Clean showers, clean outhouses and very accommodating rooms for the glamping option. I love how outdoor mesh tents were provided alongside some seats, makes hangouts much better without bugs eating us. Location is perfect, and there’s plenty of lakes and ponds nearby to fish and swim. Thank you to Penny for having us! We will be back again

Private Off-Grid Retreat

My wife, 2 small dogs, & myself spent 3 nights in one of the cabins. It was secluded, about 1km back from the road via a path, suitable for any car, truck, or van. No visible neighbours, in fact you could rarely hear other campers so it was a truly private experience. The site and cabin were larger than expected. You could easily play catch or set up a lawn games on the open, flat, coarse sandy area. The outhouse on site was exclusive to our site & had an automatic solar light that was bright. The picnic table had a small barbeque & single burner cooktop hooked up to the same propane tank which lasted us through our 3 nights. The screen tent provided shelter from the bugs during the day, though they were not bad during our stay! The fire pit had a couple of solid log stools to sit on & a grill. The porch had a couple of Muskoka chairs & a small table. In the cabin, there is a single solar-powered light illuminating the main entrance, however it is not very bright, so we recommend brining additional rechargeable lights & power banks as the cabin is off-grid. The sleeping area in the loft was spacious with a window you can open. The cabin had a small expandable table with 2 barstools, & a lighter & coasters in the drawer. There was a pull-out couch & chair. There was also a shelving unit with a basin, coffee percolator, D battery-powered fan, & cutting board. The shared shower station was a great way to keep clean. We would recommend the cabins to for a private off-grid escape.

Camping with animals!

Cozy Cabin #2

Our experience was simply magical. Cosy cabin 2 was so quiet and private. The wildlife around us was vast and friendly. We even saw a moose! A bunny visited our site often as well. Lots of blue Jays and other birds in the surrounding trees. We would definitely return.

Really great experience

We are long time tenters, but this year we decided to try something different and we found this campground with the mini cabins. I will stay here at the outset that we enjoyed this place very much and we stayed for six nights. The cabins are very well kept and clean and also very private. Fortunately for us, there were no other campers on site when we were there but even if the campsite were full you would still have plenty of privacy. The owners are also super friendly and helpful. We felt that the location was very Central to all of the other day activities that we carried out. We were able to visit several provincial parks during our stay and used this campsite as our base. We earlier had purchased a season pass for the provincial parks which paid for itself after just a few days. You can drive in several directions from this campsite and enjoy wonderful scenery, as well as several provincial parks. A brief ride into Bancroft if you want to re-enter civilization for a while and grab a quick coffee. Bancroft also has a wonderful little park right in the middle of town. Maynooth itself has several nice little shops that you can pick up some souvenirs or other essential items. Locals are warm and friendly. Bring extra water with you or pick it up at the entrance on the way into the campsite. Also, the mattress in the bed area may not be to everyone's liking and you may need some extra padding,so keep that in mind. We highly recommend this place.

Great place to stay

A nice and cozy spot to stay. The bunkie is comfortable and bigger than you'd expect, it really is a good base for adventures in the region. Quiet and private as well. We'll be coming back I'm sure!

Nice new site near to Algonquin Park but with a lot less of a crowd than the parks campgrounds, very private sites. Friendly folks run the place as well. We only stayed one night but it was definitely a place to go again.

We really enjoyed camping on Pennys land! The short drive to the cabin was beautiful! The trees really gave us privacy, which we loved :) The cabin was so cozy and clean, and the provided bbq, burner and propane was very convenient! Great experience!!!

From the time we arrived at the cabin, I readily told myself that I should have booked a longer stay. We loved the cabin and the facilities at the site. The site was also near provincial and municipal parks for all the activities you want to engage in. The site is also not so far from a big town where you can get anything you need. Even the instructions and tips given upon booking were so thorough that I didn't need to clarify anything. The owner was also very responsive and accommodating. We definitely recommend this place.

Peace and Quiet

We had such a lovely time here! It was so quiet, and surrounded by beautiful ravens. There was even one that kept saying hello! The cabin was clean and not buggy. The outhouse was well maintained. They even provide a tent area outside the cabin so we could eat without getting attacked by bees. Such a lovely property, very close by some beaches, small towns and really cool antique shops! The hosts were so warm and friendly. I think our only suggestion would be to bring a foam mattress for the loft bed, as it's a very thin matt to sleep on. We're not in our 20s anymore, and definitely needed a thicker bed! Would definitely recommend this rental. It's quiet, private, relaxing and exactly what we needed. 5/5!

Car Scratched on 'Road' to Cabin

If you value your vehicle do not go here. The very long road (7 minute drive) into the cabins is narrow and overgrown and despite driving extremely slow we left with a scratch from the front to the back of the car. Otherwise our stay was nice and quiet. Cabin and outhouse are clean.

Clean! Very clean and well maintained area. Host replies quickly. Lots of fire wood available. Area was nice and quiet. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away for a quiet get away. Town is close enough you can pop in and grab a morning coffee and there is a few great swimming locations close by (by car) as well. We had a great stay and would love to visit again.

Cozy Cabin #2

The site has a few cabins in different sizes. Mine was cabin 2. Small but enough for 2-4 people to sleep. Soa bed on ground floor and loft bed upstairs. Propane heating is extra. Firewood extra for campfire. I'd ask for firewood in advance. A propane BBQ hooked up. Outhouse. And a shower but no water. The site is 10 minutes to Bancroft so you can resupply there.

Beautiful horses and wilderness

We loved staying on pennys land in one of her cozy cabins! The trail ride was amazing and the ride had varying elements which made it exciting and thrilling at times even though we were going a slow pace. The cabin itself was pretty scarce but very clean. You definitely need to bring everything down to your sheets but I understand this is to streamline things. There was some miscommunication about tax and payment which was brought up in front of other guests which felt uncomfortable but that would be our one and only complaint. A grate for cooking over the fire would be a nice addition!! Would stay again!!
