'Whispering Pines' was bought about 35 years ago as our dream retirement home, a place to rest, have a quiet life, enjoy nature and have a peaceful retirement for ever and ever...In past years we have been a family camp. and an event camp with camping festivals, special events, and day visits. Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting.
Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim.
All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories.
All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water.
Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking.
Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September.
I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

The terrain is mostly flat but interesting. Campsites are private with good separation from each other. ALL sites have 2 car parking, a picnic table, fire pit and covered wood for purchase. Campfires are permitted according to our approved burn plan before midnight.
5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community.
Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie.
Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. Use of a kid's swingset and olympic trampoline. Swimming and fishing.

Fall asleep to the sound of waves on the shore. A quiet comfy bunkie perfect for “glamping” on the gorgeous main beach in Southampton. 100m from the tennis club, short walk to uptown, with its many dining spots, and to the ice-cream shop! Stunning sunsets - best in the world! Perfect for one or two people, there is a double bed, a single (which can be set up as a daybed for lounging) and a single bunk above the double bed. Lounge chairs on the sand and Muskoka chairs around the firepit (burning a fire is dependant on the town’s rules), and an outdoor dining table. The bunkie is bright and spacious, and steps from the public washroom and parking lot. There are no indoor cooking facilities guaranteed, although we are laid back, friendly people and so just ask! We also have a bbq and outdoor tap.
This is a novel situation good for inexpensive short term rentals in an otherwise expensive town without public campgrounds. Looking for quiet friendly renters. Why sleep in a van or tent when you can have a bed in a bunkie with a fridge and a fan!?

This was our second time camping here, and it definitely won’t be our last. The campsite was clean and well maintained, and we were lucky enough to have a site right by the water, which made the whole experience even better.
Lisa, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her guests having a great stay. We had another fantastic camping trip with our group of five and are already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!

We had a very nice stay! The hosts and cabin was perfectly welcoming, very clean, comfy beds and linens, and smelled amazing of fresh wood. Lots of cute frogs to watch and catch by the pond in the evening and we loved hearing the cows mooing from the other field. Neighbouring campers were a good distance away providing privacy. We got a great prepped bag of wood, newspapers and kindling for the fire. Thank you for hosting us :)

Campsites were private, shady, and had easy access to outhouse facilities. A great-value option for the area, which has few other places for overnight accomodations. Booking through HipCamp was quick and easy.

Be prepared to use rustic outhouses (or bring camping toilet setup like we did), bring water for drinking and dishes (no water source, no showers) carry out all waste with you, leave property better than you found it. Nice, cool, swimming hole… Everyone we ran into was friendly and helpful. We will be back.

Relaxing visit.
Everything that could be controlled was. Pond was clean and relaxing. We used lemongrass oil to control the tick issue. We found several around but thankfully none on us. Mosquitos werent an issue. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. We had to cut our vacation short by a day but we still enjoyed the time we had there.

The camping spots are spacious with lots of room between spots. Both times I went at around 8-9pm tons of fireflies appear!

This is one of the most beautiful places in Midwestern Ontario. There's a reason this stretch sees thousands of tubers every year. Hosts are incredible. Fishing isn't too bad either :)

Group trip
Lisa and Scott were such an amazing hosts. They had a wonderful cabin with amazing breathtaking views both day and night. The site images only tell half of the story and the rest is for you to explore. Highly recommended for a quick and comfy getaway.
