Great host (Vanessa). Very cooperative and knowledgeable.
We were greeted with a welcome package, included water bottles and some snacks.
For the site
It's a nice quite site. Quite hilly, which the host mentions several times before you book. U can put 2 to 3 tents on the site but you will feel the incline in the sleep.
Also, make sure you make arrangements for water for all kind of usage.
If the owners can level the surface and arrange water on site, it would be great.
We managed our stay buying water from water depot nearby and groceries from stores .. all within 5 to 6kms distance.
We might come back next year if the surface is leveled and the water is added to the property.

A beautiful, peaceful cabin! Vanessa was the best host made sure everything was going well and gave us lots of activities to do. Was perfect to do my birthday here with a little beach not far from the cabin, lots of trails to walk and the most beautiful veiws. Definitely will be coming back!!

Rustic is right, the inside of the cabin is like a nostalgic time capsule! It was warm and cozy, we watched a vhs before bed. I didn't see a photo but there is a mini fridge inside which was great.
The land is quite private, no neighbors visible from the yard but you will have people walking, riding or driving the road in front fairly regularly.
The whole property inside & out was spotless and thoughtfully prepared.
Vanessa was friendly, attentive and readily available for the questions we did have.
No trouble parking and easy to get to 10 or so minutes from town.
The only downsides we had:
The cabin sits on a hill side so the frontage is quite slanted, tough for outdoor games, slippery when wet. We did find two spots flat enough for small tents.
The bbq is fickle, it works but we thought we'd run out propane with half a tank left.
The outhouse- is an outhouse of course, I've seen worse for sure. Some kind of light inside would be a great addition.
Overall had a great time, highly recommended for anyone looking for a step above camping but still well in nature.

Vanessa place was really nice we enjoyed, she was in touch with us all the time with clear directions, tips of what we have around and could do, she left a amazing welcoming box full of treats like s'mores, tea, tim hortons drinks, bars a lot of things and also lighter and flash lights ohh also firewood. You got place by yourself no one bothers. Definitely we love to come back!!!

Though the host is very welcoming the ad is very deceptive. The photos used are old, evidenced by the missing bench around the tree when you get to the site. Also evidenced by the missing fire pit on the lower grass level.
The site is not by the water as it appears to be. The "beach" you can access is right next to the main road exposed to all the residents around the lake so you're "bathing" with an audience.
There are no animals at the site just a farm nearby that you likely need to pay to visit.
There are no signs telling you where to set up your tent and there is no path with woodchips as shown in photo.
Your composting toilet is not a dug hole, you just deficate on the ground. Smh.
You have to bring your own drinkable water as harvesting from lake is impractical. There is only access from the main road.
This host would benefit from a more honest description of the site. There is a market for every kind of site but no market for dishonesty.
An honest ad would turn all bad reviews into good ones.

Don't think it should be a low rating...hostess was great...appreciate the firewood...nice spot, private. Little manovering to obtain a flat spot. The cover pic is a bit irrelevant really. Beautiful area and nice folks passing by occasionally!

The property was very private with little traffic on the road. The site was well maintained and it was a nice touch to have a little path leading to the outhouse. The site however is on an incline with very little areas that are flat. It was difficult to level an older camper and would be very hard to find a level spot for tenting.
The welcome package was a nice treat!

My friends and I had a good experience overall. Although we were a bit mislead on how much of an incline the site was. Majority of us had to sleep on an incline which made it difficult. The lake and town was close by which we liked a lot. We had a good time overall

We spent three nights at this property. We rented a house but mostly slept in tents. This property accommodated three tents, although finding flat spots was a bit challenging. However, we managed to set up all three tents. We also had a small teardrop trailer and three SUV cars, all of which fit well on the property.
The house is equipped with a small hotel-sized fridge, cooktop, coffeemaker, microwave, and other essentials. It gets a little hot during the day, but it is charming. The outhouse is really old, but it was pleasantly surprising to find it equipped with a toilet seat, four rolls of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, sanitizer spray, and air freshener.
Our group of eleven family members fully enjoyed our stay. Vanessa provided a lot of information about local attractions and beach locations. This trip was definitely memorable.
We visited Whitewater, Sculpture Forest, Scenic Minden Lookout, and all three beaches. The best beach, in our opinion, was the closest one, with its beautiful lake, sandy but tiny shore, and gradual access, which made for an excellent experience. Although both Whitewater and the closest beach were within walking distance, it was better to drive since the walk is literally on the road. Overall, we had a fantastic time!

Very Awesome Private Spot!! Close to going swimming, just five minutes up the road, hiking, canoeing, kakaying. Very hilly but a few level spots. Lots of trees for shade. Great big firepit!

We enjoyed our stay on Vanessa’s land. She was so kind to leave us a welcome kit with some extra items and some jugs of water. Land was hilly but no problem finding a good spot to setup our large tent. Great remote spot close to great places to swim and relax. Would definitely come back.

Cabin is cozy and what else you need for a perfect gateway. There are all the necessary items already in the cabin. Also, the location is perfect. Lots of beaches and kayaking places nearby. Vanessa is responsive and very informative. She is an amazing host.

I had an excellent experience at the campsite, largely thanks to Vanessa's exceptional patience and support. As first-time campers, my group and I had numerous questions upon arrival, but Vanessa graciously ensured that she was available throughout the day to address our inquiries.
Additionally, the site itself boasts stunning natural beauty, which I believe will be even more captivating during the fall or summer seasons. The ambiance of the surroundings truly added to the overall enjoyment of our stay.
Given the outstanding service and the allure of the location, I am eager to return in the future. Vanessa's hospitality and the scenic environment make this campsite a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience.

Nice property and cabin. Outhouse could use repair. Repairs needed in cabin. Frying pan with no handle greasy dishes. Needs sprucing up. Fireplace outside very enjoyable. Great river rocks to walk on. Take your own wood. BBQ needs new burners, taking a chance if enough propane. Would not return unless it is fixed up

We had a great time staying here! The cabin is very cozy and well supplied. We really loved the old VHS tapes, the weather was gloomy for most of our stay so we spent lots of time keeping warm by the fire and watching movies. Vanessa kept in touch before our arrival and throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed.

My partner and I loved Vanessa's camping site. It was very spacious and well maintained. The space is a little hilly but otherwise workable. There was a welcome kit with water, smores kit, tea, coffee, granola bars and chips which was a plus! Vanessa gave us some good recommendations on what to do around the area as well. Our dog loved swimming by the end of the whitewater preserve! The Kawartha Dairy minutes away from the campsite was lovely. Overall, a great campsite and an amazing host. Will be back once the cabin is ready. Thank you Vanessa!

What a lovely hidden gem. Vanessa was very attentive and checked in that everything was ok. We had two small trailers and could have another. Need things to level as it's a bit uneven but I would definitely go back. The welcome package was an extra treat. Thanks for a great weekend!

Vanessa was extremely relaxed and easy to deal with throughout the booking process and while I was organizing our trip! She answered all of our questions quickly and thoroughly, and even provided additional information about local sights and attractions for our group. The welcome package was a sweet touch, too. Keys were very easy to find and the no-contact check in and out process was super simple.
We had a pretty big group (6 adults) so space was at a premium, but the cabin was still comfortable for everyone, and we had a great time! If you’re looking for something in the area, I would recommend booking with Vanessa! 😊

This was a wonderful hip camp experience!!
Vanessa is a lovely host, very responsive and left us a thoughtful gift upon arrival. We were a group of 10 (in mostly separate tents and cars) and there was room on the lot for all of us, of course always confirm this with your host but Vanessa was so accommodating. You can park right beside your tent for loading and unloading.
The area is quite steep/sloped but we were able to find reasonable flat ground for us to settle. There is a swimming area about a 10 minute walk away. There is a picnic table and fire pit and lots of trees for shade! A saviour on a hot day. Would love to return when the cabin becomes available too! Would highly recommend this site :)

One of the best experience we had ! Would like to go there again. It was set up so well. With lil snacks, books, games , coffee maker , coffee kids movies etc. it was clean . The location looked safe. Great spot to relax. Nice trails close by. A great get away spot. Host were amazing. They accommodated our needs so well & was responsive.

What a wonderful place the Rustic Cozy Cabin is! Very private area. Easy to get to and so many things to do around. We were greeted by 4 deer when we arrived. The cabin was very tidy. The wood stove warmed up the place in no time during our winter stay. We were able to go straight to the cabin and didn't get to meet our host Vanessa, however she was always just a message away and very helpful. We went to Buttermilk Falls, the Haliburton Sculpture Forest, toured the small town of Minden and finished with the amazing views of the Minden Wild Water Preserve. We wish we had booked a longer stay as there was so much to do and take in. We will definitely come back, and stay longer next time!!
