Beautiful peaceful spot in Ontario
Wow. Beth’s place is amazing. It is a truly wonderful location and a delightful traditional Ontario mini-cottage/glamping experience. Beth is a terrific hostess: she was kind in relaying all the info we might need, and very welcoming. So was her delightful troop of friendly little four-legged friends. We’d visit again in a heartbeat! And Beth has extensive knowledge of the outdoor adventures/paddling to be done in the area.
---The location: just a few minutes off the hwy but feels completely remote! We were the only people paddling on this 12 km stretch of the Spanish River: saw lots of ducklings, goslings, beavers, warblers, and even moose footprints on the shore. (Like most northern Ont rivers, the Spanish has dams which affect things but we had great paddles in extremely calm waters.) ---We stayed in the Century-Old Dovetailed Cabin -- perfect for us. Comfortable bed, nice screened windows, great porch! So handy to have electricity and great mobile phone coverage. Lovely fresh water at the pump. ---As regular travelers to the region know, Northern Ont has lots of bugs in its natural places – good, because birds need bugs to eat! – so in June it’s good to have spray, appropriate clothing, and the time-honoured strategy of heading inside in the mid-evening when they’re particularly buzzy … or heading out to the middle of the river in a canoe : ) And there’s a wonderful small beach on the river that you can paddle or walk to quickly. Loved our peaceful, restful stay!
