Weekend Trip to Natures Acres

We absolutely loved our stay at Nature’s Acres! The property is stunning—peaceful, well cared for, and full of natural beauty. The wide open fields, serene wooded trails, and quiet, spacious campsites made for the perfect getaway. We felt so blessed to have found this spot. It was clear that a lot of thought and love has gone into creating such a welcoming space. The fire pit, picnic table, and provided firewood were great touches, and the swimming pond and kayaks were an amazing bonus. Everything was clean, quiet, and respectful. The hosts were kind, helpful, and quick to respond when we had questions. It truly felt like a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for sharing such a special place!

We had a great time! Exactly as advertised! Beautiful sunset views through the trees, or walk to the farm and get a front seat. Bathrooms were very well kept, groundsman was very nice. Our first night the land was basically empty so it was so quiet and wonderful. The second night some more campers with families came in, you can definitely hear the other campers, but still felt like we had privacy. The ONLY “negative” and it’s the nature of the land, the deer flies are relentless. Bring lots of deet, and a hat. Other than the flies, which we can deal with, we’re in their house now haha, we had a wonderful 2 night stay. Thanks again!

What a great little spot, right on the river! My site was well shaded, had good flat options for my tent, and it was relaxing to be able to hear the sounds of the river. I added firewood to my stay and it was well worth it to not have to go hunting for some on the roadside. Angela popped by shortly after I got there to check in, appreciated. Perfect spot!

Weekend Trip to Beaver Ranch

I recently stayed at this campsite and had a great experience overall. The place looked exactly like the photos and description—right beside the river, which was beautiful and made me want to camp there. Although there isn’t full shade, it was a bit windy and the coolness from the river made it comfortable. We enjoyed watching friendly people kayaking and tubing by the river, waving as they passed. Angela was very responsive and detailed in communication, both before we arrived and when we were leaving. Also, when i let her know that i'm scared of dogs she was very considerate in keeping them away away from our site as much as possible which I really appreciated (the dogs were very friendly though). On our last night we went to the drive-in movie nearby as recommended in the description. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience in a beautiful riverside location with nice extra activities nearby. Thank you Angela for having us in your beautiful property and for being kind host. I will definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to camp beside the river. 💯

We had a wonderful stay at Carl Pepper! The place was serene and beautifully maintained. Carl was extremely cooperative and accommodating, especially at the last moment when another family joined us. The surroundings were peaceful, and everything looked perfect. The pond was absolutely beautiful—clean and deep—but not suitable for small kids. However, the deck over the pond was like the cherry on top; it added a special charm to the whole experience. We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids, and all of us had a fun and memorable time. Highly recommended for families or small groups looking for a quiet and scenic getaway

This was an awesome campsite. My family and I had a great time. We spent 4 days there, and my boys (7 and 3) had lots of fun. We enjoyed the river, tubing, hiking, and riding their bikes along the campsite. Angela was a host host- Thank you for having us!

2 nights at Beaver Ranch

Wow. What a little oasis Angela & Luke have down by the river. It’s everything you could ask for in a camping spot, full sun, on the river with privacy and peace. The swimming was wonderful, we wore water shoes as it was a little rocky but it was refreshing to cool off when the sun was shining. The current is strong in spots so lifejackets for weaker swimmers is a good idea. We walked our tubes just 50 from The Dam Spot & managed to float for a little while before joining the current downstream back to our site. A natural lazy river is now a must for us when camping. The firewood on site was a wonderful addition as was the adventure up to the sandbanks which offered a beautiful sunset (10 min walk & worth it at golden hour) Angela & Luke were so kind and helpful, we are so lucky we found this little gem. We can’t wait to book again & venture further up stream to do a longer float. 20/10 would recommend!!!

The cabin was clean and quaint, with a big fire pit and convertible picnic benches, surrounded by trees and quiet! Lots of great trails to explore. Rick was a fantastic host!

2 nights at Beneath the Stars - Haliburton County Escape

Rustic is right, the inside of the cabin is like a nostalgic time capsule! It was warm and cozy, we watched a vhs before bed. I didn't see a photo but there is a mini fridge inside which was great. The land is quite private, no neighbors visible from the yard but you will have people walking, riding or driving the road in front fairly regularly. The whole property inside & out was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. Vanessa was friendly, attentive and readily available for the questions we did have. No trouble parking and easy to get to 10 or so minutes from town. The only downsides we had: The cabin sits on a hill side so the frontage is quite slanted, tough for outdoor games, slippery when wet. We did find two spots flat enough for small tents. The bbq is fickle, it works but we thought we'd run out propane with half a tank left. The outhouse- is an outhouse of course, I've seen worse for sure. Some kind of light inside would be a great addition. Overall had a great time, highly recommended for anyone looking for a step above camping but still well in nature.

You will see many of the rocks have been piled up or made into walls to once make way for cattle to pasture. Now the land is slowly returning back to the forest. Our remote off grid property in the forest east of Eagle Lake is a great place to disconnect and decompress. The roadside Bunkie sleeps 2 comfortably and can accommodate a RV trailer or tent as well. Pets are welcome. The property has a pit toilet, and campfires are allowed in the designated pit. There is also potable water in the bin with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. In the winter water would have to be stored inside. Linen not provided. You’ll wake up surrounded by trees and can explore the great hiking, nature viewing, atv trails and boating in the summer months. In the winter enjoy glaming in the propane heated bunkie, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snow machine trails at the door. Wildlife is all around. Several lakes and parks are nearby, including Mikisew Provincial Park on Eagle Lake, about 20 km south, where you can go boating, paddling, or swimming and Algonquin Provincial Park is close as well with many lakes and hiking trails. Some restaurants and stores can be found in the South River, about 20 km away.

Offering a serviced camping site for a tent, with firepit, toilet, shower, a large deck, floating dock and private 1.5 acre lake! Parking is right at the campsite, following a 400m tractorway over grass. This tractorway enters and exits onto the county road independent of the host’s private home driveway. Our small, bio-diverse farm is in a quiet location but only 10km from shops and cafes. Our property is run with minimal chemical inputs and a lot of hard manual labour. We also run a seasonal farm shop selling our tree nut products and crafts. You will camp by our private 1.5 acre lake which you are welcome to explore and carefully fish (subject to Provincial permits) by our canoe (canoe, two paddles and life preservers provided). The lake supports abundant Bluegill, and possibly bass and perch, plus Midland and Snapping turtles, thousands of tree frogs in the spring, and musk rat, woodland ducks, and heron. You may also see rare bobolinks, barn swallows, and bats in summer. Check out our ancient Jesuit pear tree, 65’ tall, you may never see another as it is a very rare tree. We are on the migration routes of Tundra swans and Monarch butterflies. Star gazing is very good, there is very little light pollution. Tall poplar trees provide shade and shelter as well as pleasant sounds of the wind. We provide free 5G drinking water per day, firewood (unless there is a ban), and within 5 min walk you can use a fridge/freezer, electric outlet for short term use eg charging a battery. We service the campsite by mowing, a rustic recycling station, kindling, matches, firepit, gas burner-griddle and we collect clean, washed recyclables, compostable veg scraps and paper and garbage after your stay. Please don’t bring your own firewood, we provide plenty. Footwear is advised. Conditions underfoot are usually good, we do try to keep poison ivy in check but it does pop up here and there. We experience a modified continental climate from the Great Lakes. The typical snow season lasts from November until April, interspersed by rapid thaws and rainfall. Rarely does this create significant problems underfoot due to our soils being free-draining sands and gravel, but occasional localized flooding can occur in low-lying spots.

Learn more about this land: Come and camp on beautiful Eagle Lake with approximately 120' frontage facing North. The campsites are only steps away from the water’s edge where you can enjoy stunning sunsets. Swimming, fishing and a playground are just across the road. The sites have a raised fire pit to cook your meals and a picnic table for enjoying them. We can provide firewood for $12 a bag, just ask! These medium sites can accommodate two tents or a small camper with a total of four people. There is a shared outhouse, with flush toilets at the park across the road. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! The Farm

It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.
