Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are just an hour - a stones throw - from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. It's now a family hobby farm and a bush camping venue. We currently have two dogs, a handful of cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! We offer a choice of (unpowered) sites, ranging from elevated with views of the valley, or closer to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. ELEVATED SITES have stunning views of the valley and are the preferred choice for the free range horses and cows to spend their time. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. These sites are not suitable for caravan access. LOWER SITES are closer to the creek and to facilities such as toilets, a powered shed, kettle, microwave, fridge and a sink. Most of these sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. So we are able to allocate you the most suitable site, when submitting a booking request please include your vehicle make &model, camping setup (tent/swag/4WD camper trailer/caravan etc) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs) . Include your preference for an elevated or lower site (please note, the availability of certain sites is weather dependant). Other things to note: • Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top. • We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. • No 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved booking through Hipcamp. • Phone reception is patchy. • Firewood is available for purchase on site. It has an impressive backdrop formed by Mt Chinghee. Running Creek is a lovely flowing creek which is very inviting in summer and the park offers a great bush camp. Toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and swimming. BYO drinking water. Pets to be restrained. No showers—a dip in the creek will keep you clean but please don’t use soap or detergent. Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Rd and travel approximately 17km south east. Campers & Day Trippers Rules: The Park is for everyone to enjoy, so please adhere to a few simple guidelines while enjoying this beautiful park. By using this park you agree to the following rules. All vehicles entering the park must observe 10 Km per hour speed limit. Fires must be extinguished prior to departure. Park users must clean up their area when leaving, by taking all rubbish, including food scraps and disposable nappies with them, so the next users can enjoy the Park as well. Do not burn your rubbish. It must be taken with you! The disposal of nappies in the grass around the waterline, and in fire pits, is a serious risk to human health, the health of the creek, surrounding stock and the ecosystem! Please be respectful of other camper’s space & privacy! Do not set up on top of other campers. Generator use is restricted to 4 hours per day between the hours of 2pm to 6pm. Dogs must be on short leads and confined to your campsite at all times. No music or noise after 10pm, noise level must at all times be at an acceptable level so as not to disturb other users. No antisocial behavior. No camping on creek banks. No playing around toilet block area. No livestock to be kept on the park. No cutting down trees. No person to travel in the load area of vehicles. No motorcycles other than on the formed roads or when moving between your campsite and the road. No stock whips, firearms or weapons of any sort, chainsaws, drones or fireworks allowed in the park. No use of detergents, soaps or shampoos in creek. No washing dishes or clothing in creek. No hitting of Golf balls. No cricket with cricket ball (tennis ball ok). No swings to be tied to trees. Anyone who is non-compliant may be directed by park management to leave the park and if so must leave without delay. Non-compliance will be referred to local Police and you may face legal action for trespassing. Park management reserves the right to refuse anyone entry to and use of the park. The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Our camp area is situated on Rowlands creek, offering 6 acres of creek flat with 3 waterholes. There are plenty of activities to try around town, from bushwalking, exploring the Rail Trail in Murwillumbah and downhill mountain biking at the Uki Mountain Bike Park (Less then 8Km from our property). The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stock up on supplies at the village General Store. Pet welcome on leash and under control. Campfires are permitted within local regulations. We do have a bathtub’s on four sites. Campers should leave no trace. We are a short drive from the beautiful Hell’s hole, Unicorn falls and Mavis Kitchens. We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Dead Tree Alley. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Guy, our friendly and down-to-earth host, who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He was warm, hospitable, and happy to have a chat, which added a personal touch that made the experience even more special. The campsite itself was incredible — private and peaceful, with just the right amount of distance from the amenities (the toilets and showers were clean and easily accessible). Waking up to panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys was breathtaking, but the real magic came at night. The clear skies lit up with stars, offering a dazzling show that we’ll never forget. We loved wandering around the property, meeting the curious and friendly farm animals, and soaking in the serenity of nature. There’s a sense of freedom and connection to the land here that’s rare to find. Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat or a bit of adventure, Dead Tree Alley ticks all the boxes. We’ll definitely be back — and we can’t recommend this little slice of paradise highly enough. Thank you, Guy, for sharing your beautiful space with us!

This is a beautiful spot for a relaxing, calm trip away. The views are beautiful, sites are great and amenities are well kept. There are animals and a creek and plenty of space so it’s a great place for kids and families! Bear in mind it is close to a highway so you do hear a little road noise but besides that it is great! The host is lovely and very accomodating! I would definitely recommend One Tree Hill!!

We loved our stay at the little Red Cabin so much!! We arrived a little later than expected the first night but Aneta still met us and guided us across the creek, and helped us get settled. She was so friendly and easy to communicate with via text but otherwise very much gave us our privacy. The cabin was cosy at night and bright and sunny during the day. The kitchen set-up is simple but effective and we'd brought all we needed. The bath and shower space is divine. The claw foot bathtub was big enough for us both to lay in comfortably and the view looking out to the mountain is spectacular. The benefit of having the roof overhead is that if it were raining you could still enjoy a lovely hot bath without getting too chilly. The layout of the cabin allows for lots of different spaces to hang out and we very much enjoyed the slower pace of our days there. We had lovely fires in the firepit at night time and lay out looking at the moon and the stars. The sound of the creek bubbling away right next to the kitchen was extremely calming, the water level was too low for us to swim there but we drove down the road (to Harts Bridge) and had the best swims there!! We'll definitely be back :)

Weekend Trip to Crystal Creek Rainforest Treehouse
Amazing hidden spot, we had an awesome time with my two teenage boys and our dog, the site is quiet, tidy and the tree house is a dream come true. Went for a short walk down the creek, paddled on the water pond just 30 mtrs away from the house and enjoyed a fire in and out of the house. The house was neat and tidy, small but comfortable enough and having the kitchen area below and separate toilet was fine also, a hot shower in the evening was comforting also. We drove to the closest town only 15 min drive - Chilinngham that has a local pub/shop and basketball court with petrol available also, and only 30 min on our way back, we checked out the natural bridge park, which is worthed and an easy walk on a safe track for only 45 minutes. Annete and Paul were great with communication and respecting privacy. Id love to come back probably during summer to enjoy the water pond more for a swim and paddling. Thank you guys!

We loved our time at Juburra country camping! We stayed at the train station and one word comes to mind to sum it up… Special. That spot was something special that you don’t get every where. We even met the Hosts Michael and Kate while we were there and they are truly lovely people that really care about the quality of their campsites. They were also very happy to help me with questions leading up to our stay and answered very quickly! Bek and I can’t wait to come back again and try all the other spots on the property, although the train station is going to be hard to beat!!

We had a fantastic stay at Red Gum Hill. Guy was a lovely and welcoming host, and the campsite was beautifully maintained. We stayed at a private spot tucked away at the back—peaceful and perfect for a quiet getaway. There were easy trails along the creek where our dogs had an absolute blast exploring. One of the highlights was meeting Guy’s beloved rescue animals—such a special and heartwarming experience. We’ll definitely be back!

This is our second time visiting Guy’s land, that was still very wonderful trip. Guy’s family are very friendly, nice and easy to talk with. We can see more animals compared to last time we visited, kids had fun with animals and especially for the new born little sheep, she is really super cute, my daughter can’t stop to talk about it.

Awesome off road drive through the national park. Most 2WD and 4WD should be able to get through the majority of the roads. Unicorn falls is the highlight for me

Beautiful rainforest littered with creeks and streams and a lot of bird life. Great walks to get the cardio up, and the unicorn falls are worth visiting
