The host was lovely but the spoon drain was a bit deep as I bottom out in my van and the tow bar scrapped on the ground. The toilet was very clean.

We had a great few days at Barry and his brothers place. It’s a great setting, at the back of the home in a grassy area surrounded by trees with a dam.
Only negative would have been was the weather.
Plenty of fire wood so all was good.
Thanks and hope to visit again sometime.

Had an amazing long weekend of relaxing. Found the area to be so beautiful and perfect for my dogs first camping trip. Barry was very lovely and accomodating. Definitely would recommend and go back another time.

Peaceful spot but unfortunately not swimable.
You can have a fire anywhere which was great.
The toilet is a portaloo which would be fine except for the 20+ huntsman. I don’t mind a spider but seeing at least 5 at a glance did not make me want to use it. Barry is lovely and so welcoming and friendly.

We stayed 3 nights in a van and a tent. What a lovely spot, lots of shade. Barry was an amazing host, so friendly and accomodating. Stockers siding is close. We will be going back

My group of friends loved this beautiful little spot. Barry was so accomodating and gave us lovely recommendations for activities to do in the area. The stars and the nature scenes were amazing at night. We had our dog stay and he was very happy in this camping spot. Bonus points for the very clean port-a-loo!

Chowen's Rest was a lovely zen spot to spend a few days with the birds and frogs. Barry was a most wonderful host, I feel very blessed to have met him. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with the view of the mountain. Thank you Barry and John!

Friendly host and easy spot to stay for a night on a roadtrop. There is one spot that looks like the photos - that spot was taken when we got there - so we ended up taking a spot at the edge of the field which was fine, but did look out at the house.

We enjoyed 4 wonderful days at Chowan’s rest. Barry is very welcoming and hospitable.. His property is quiet, and there is lots of space to enjoy your privacy from other hipcampers, although we enjoyed meeting the other guests whilst we were there. The land is well maintained and mostly all flat so great for your set up. There are two small watering holes which we were lucky to have been able to set up in front of, and lots of shade for the summer months. Lovely breezes kept us cool in the afternoon and night too. The Northern Rivers rail trail is close by and other places of interest we visited in the area were Mt. Jerusalem NP (unicorn falls) Uki, Palmers Road swimming hole just out of Uki, Tyalgum, Murwillumbah etc. Pottsville/Caba beaches only 25 minute drive. Great base to have whist exploring this beautiful part of the Northern Rivers. Thank you Barry, we will see you again soon!

Barry went out of his way to meet and interact with me. His land was the perfect getaway. Had the perfect spot by the dam. Toilets was clean and property maintained. While it doesn't look that big of an area, there is plenty room for privacy. But big enough for several groups.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and recommend to others.

Barry was a friendly host and ensured we had a comfortable stay. Spacious site, it was a nice spot with fairly flat ground for tents. Unfortunately the creek was not at a level where we could dip. Resident wallaby was nice to see. Would recommend for a night or two.

Really enjoyed the peace and quiet at Chowan rest. The campsite site was lovely and shady on a very hot day and it was nice to be situated next to the water hole. The campsite is far enough away from the main house to feel like you have the place to yourself. This is a great spot to pitch up if you are a keen cyclist as the very pretty rail trail is right there and definately worth doing. The whole area is breathtaking, full of mountains, rivers and leafy winding roads. Lovely neat campsite. Take the entry into the campsite slowly as there is a spoon drain thats quite deep so go as far right as you can. Thanks Barry had a great time
