Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, this campsite offers stunning views, peace, and a sense of solitude that's hard to match. Many campers rave about the clear directions and the thrilling 4x4 drive leading up to the site, which is well worth the effort for the breathtaking scenery. The host, Mike, is noted for his friendly and communicative nature, ensuring guests feel welcomed and informed. However, some mention the entry area could be tidier, and the proximity of campsites might occasionally infringe on privacy.
Mike, the owner, is very friendly and approachable. We like this campsite because it's not too crowded, and it was very unexpected to see fireflies for the first time in our lives. My husband and I were absolutely delighted with the huge number of fireflies last time
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Our first site was too narrow but Mike sorted us a different one.
Mike was awesome and responded very fast and was really accommodating with questions.
The 4 x 4 trail in was fun, but I’d like the shrubs trimmed back in sections so it doesn’t scratch my car as it’s a newish Ute.
The entry section to the trail is a little confronting with run down sheds and abandoned like caravans which almost made me turn around and leave.
Amazing camp site, exceptional views. Very well maintained. Nothing like camping amongst the forest and watching the weather roll across the bay. Enjoyable 4WD track on the way up and down!
Instructions were clear and Mike was very helpful and communicative. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for two nights with our little pups. 10/10. Can't wait to come back!
Beautiful view. We were lucky to get the place to ourselves for the first night as the other camp sites are close by. Instructions were clear and well illustrated. Mike was a great communicator and was kind to check in and ensure we made it up to camp.
Loved the camping spot, excellent views out to Byron, the drive up the mountain was a bit of fun to start off with. Would definitely recommend and would go back again. Mike was very accommodating with updating our booking.
The spot was amazing. The entry to the camp was super fun and the spot makes it totally worth it (if the fun ride up doesn’t alr cut it for you). Totally secluded and you can see mountains and the shore for as far as you can see! Would visit again
My Partner & I loved camping on Mikes land.
The views were spectacular. The quietness & peacefulness was unmatched in the this busy camping holiday season. My partner & I loved all the sounds of the raw nature around us. The directions where pretty clear & on point. Mike was very communicative & accommodating. Thank you Mike
I loved our site, it was the perfect size your us and it was obvious the owners had put a lot. Of effort into the upkeep and maintenance of the site, making it an enjoyable place to stay.
They view was amazing, however our site wasn't quite as private as we thought it was going to be and the guest from the neighbouring sites got a good view of us sitting around our camp fire. We also had a few people staying that seemed to enjoy coming to stand in front of our site.
Given we chose this site for the secluded feel, it took away from our experience a little bit.
On a positive note, the track to. The site was well maintained and we were close to a lot of great walks, and Byron Bay wasn't too far away so we got to leave our campsite to explore some great near by spots!
Yes I would go back. But I ain't spending any time on it because in the meantime, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in north Queensland.
Amazing views, and really easy to find! Just go to the address written in the description (Not the HipCamp location) and it’s just a couple junctions along the way of the 4x4 track which is really cool to drive on. No toilets so you gotta leave the property or bring a camp toilet but I think the view is worth it. Campsites clean + cleared areas with gravel that was fine to walk on barefoot. The host Mike is also very nice + communicative! Looking forward to coming back again!
We loved our night at this campsite , seeing the stars here was amazing! And the view of the mountains were stunning !! Fun 4wd track up too
Would stay again :)
Amazing views in a nice secluded area 😊, and the 4x4 track on the way is defintely a plus, 100% need a 4x4 for it :). Communication with Mike was great too!
Lovely view till Byron lighthouse, a bit hard to reach but Mike was very helpful and called us immediately when we had problems finding it.
Clean and spacey campground with a nature that leaves you stunned by their beauty.
Very small camping area with little to no space for kids to play.
The ground is uneven and no matter how I positioned myself, it felt like sleeping on an incline. We arrived at night, which didn’t help, but even in the morning the unevenness was obvious.
Due to the altitude and lack of shade, the sun hit early and by around 7am it was already incredibly hot. We packed up and left early, dripping with sweat.
The views were amazing, but in our experience they weren’t worth the overall discomfort.
If none of the above would bother you, you'll love this site!
Overall a nice spot, super secluded and great views of Byron Bay. The track up is definitely built for 4x4 and takes about 20 odd minutes to reach the top. One way in and one way out. There’s also a few nomad type groups at the beginning of the track aswell. Host provided a map which I would definitely recommend downloading or screenshotting before you arrive to make sure you don’t get lost! Definitely a good spot for nature lovers who want to get amongst the Byron Mountains!
The view from my campsite was gorgeous, especially good in a rooftop tent for the extra height. The drive up was definitely for a skilled 4wDer but it was worth it.
What an incredible view! We were lucky enough one night to get clear views across Byron main beach and even see the lighthouse flashing at night. Such a beautiful and peaceful spot. Definitely need a capable 4WD and to be ready for some tight sections. But absolutely worth it for the magical spot
Great spot, the track up the mountain was super fun and worth it for the view, Mike was very helpful for directions and info. Would definitely stay there again.
