Located, just 25 minutes from the pristine beaches of Yamba and Iluka. Across the river and just 15 minutes from the Scottish town of Maclean, nestled high in the Yamba hinterland. You will not hear traffic, you will not see headlights. Pure peace and tranquility for you to relax, chill and enjoy. The sites are surrounded by rugged mountainous bush land with views, trails, cliffs, 3 creeks to explore and includes a private lake ‘Lake Arid’ with its own island, ‘Dead Dog Island’. Swim, paddle, fish, play. Metres away is another private swimming hole ‘Pants Off Pond’ stocked with Silver Perch and Bass. So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you. Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole. The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike. The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground. Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows… Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house. Accessible by 2WD with sites with enough space for any size caravan or motor home. While exploring, if you find a spot you’d rather camp, simply ask. We live on the property so help is nearby for any issues and the access road is shared. Peace, quiet and nature abounds.

Ben from Central Queensland and Lupe from Argentina have recently taken the reigns and are eagerly looking forward to hosting further guests. Our property is situated on the North Coast of NSW, 1.5 hours south of Byron Bay in a glorious climate. It is unique because we have 5 acres of land, lots trees for shade, mowed grass and Eastern Grey kangaroos visit morning and evening. Situated in a very quiet neighbourhood, no street lights, magic night skies but only 10 minutes drive to local shops in Maclean, 15 minutes to Yuraygir National Park, fantastic views at Brooms Head, 15 minutes to Yamba's renowned surfing beaches. Did I mention fishing? Clarence River, ocean beaches, boat ramps only 10 minutes away. Only a small number of campsites which ensures that you have space to spread out, light a fire, play ball, have fun. We have a toilet and water available close to sites. Suits tent camping, camper vans, caravans or vehicles. Plenty of room for boat parking if needed. You are welcome to bring your dog, as long as it is under control, and cannot chase our kangaroos. Birdlife in abundance as well, including 3 Wedgetail eagles on occasions. In order to provide a quiet environment for everyone we ask that there be no loud music at night. Consider others in the locality at all times.

Our extensive and carefully-maintained pastures offer a wide selection of peaceful, private campsites. There are also numerous small stands of natural vegetation providing shade and shelter. In close proximity to us are shopping centres, surfing beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We operate as a cottage industry, processing alpaca fleece & manufacturing products from it. Shark Creek Retreat is an ongoing conservation project, where I call myself the caretaker of these beautiful wetlands. I have dedicated 77 acres of it as a wildlife sanctuary, it is a member of the Wildlife Land Trust and has joined the Land for Wildlife environmental community. To date there is a property bird list worthy of a small National Park for all you keen birders out there. To date I have been busy regenerating previously cleared land from farming and the 2019 bush fire with native plants local to this area in the 100's. My aim is to surround most of the property in wildlife friendly fencing, regenerate the flora and create a fauna corridor as a wildlife safety zone from the wetlands to the road and to create a tranquil little space for nature appreciative people to stop and a take a rest. Shark Creek Retreat is a conservation area, no amenities, no bins etc. so you would need to be self sufficient and responsible for own waste. What you bring, you must take. So if camping out in a conservation area appeals to you then head out to Shark Creek Retreat, stay for a night or stay for a week 💚🌳

If you’re an early riser you will see wonderful sunrises over the river, plenty of kangaroos, birds, jumping mullet, maybe a dolphin or sea eagle. The owners large homestead is visible, they are happy to share their property and surrounds as offered. Mango Tree River View Site space for group 1- 2 Caravans, campers. SKIPPY Bush Camp 2 open field - short Stay for self contained ensuite caravans only. Not riverfront, tap water only, no other facilities. All sites - Leave no trace, means take your rubbish away. 3km all weather private road. A secluded private property with open spaces, unfenced river and canals, farm animals and wildlife close by. Kangaroos are regularly around the buildings, in the yard and can be grazing up to the door at night. Town water, grid power, Telstra WIFI is available in the area but not provided. Everything was wonderful at Groundswell. The quite location the camp site was so natural but well maintained. There were also walking trails for spotlighting and bird watching. The dam was close and we would watch the birdies come down and bath themselves every morning. The compost toilet and open air hot shower were a treat! There was also a sink provided and potable water. There was also an fantastic large deck area fully covered, so we were able to move the tents under that for when the storms came. The fire pit/ring was so well set up with seating and we were allowed to take any wood and sticks for kindling that had fallen to the ground. Everything was so convenient and well thought out. Lauren was also so friendly and had lots of local information to share about the various beaches. We also purchased some eggs and beautiful herbs from Lauren. We totally loved our four night stay at Groundswell and would love to return one day.

Beautiful property and campsites spaced out among the macadamias so they still feel private. We loved our stay and would absolutely come back. The nuts are delicious and the host was so helpful to show us around and take us to gather firewood!

A really nice, relaxed campground. Fantastic view from the very clean composting loo; great little camp kitchen and lovely farm dogs! Close enough to the beaches at Yamba; Brooms Head and the little town of Maclean (where there is a dump point - handy!). Would definitely recommend and would stay here again next time we are up that way.

We were travelling and left it until last minute to find a place to camp. The host replied immediately and we lucked in big time getting a great spot overlooking the farm complete with ‘viewing platform’, friendly farm dogs and a field full of kangaroos. Super quiet, great sunset, close to Maclean and away from the tourist chaos of Yamba. We did plenty in the area - ran the Yuraigir coastal trail, visited Maclean, went to the Angourie pools and got some uninterrupted sleep!

It was a great setup with all the amenities for us. It’s located close enough to the beach in brooms head. Only thing that was bit annoying were the amount of flies during the day, but I guess that’s the little price to pay when you are in the bush. We loved staying there, and will probably consider going back in the future. Thanks!

Great easy to access location with breathtaking view of the river. VERY very new and clean toilets and the flat grassy areas were perfect for our camper. We also had to get to the site a bit later than expected and the hosts were gracious enough to still meet us at the site upon arrival and give us the quick run down and meet and greet. 10/10. We’ll be back and recommending to friends!

I was very lucky to have the pleasure of staying at this beautiful campsite, what more could you want? Waterfront site with power and water for caravans . We did lots of fishing going into Yamba which is only a stone throw away. It was definitely near enough but far enough away . the Owner of the property are absolutely lovely, Jan even gave the children that were staying with us a going away gift of two handmade kangaroos toys. I would highly recommend this this hip camp spot if you want to relax and just chill out?

Lovely grassed campground right on the river. The sites are long and narrow so you need to reverse in towards the river. You can set up side on if it's not too busy and the site next to you is empty. Access to the river is not too easy with steep banks that are overgrown. There is a section that has been cleared to allow easier access but it is quite small. Saw plenty of catfish being caught. Both Telstra and Optus coverage was non existent. There are flushing toilets provided as well as a potable water tap. Grafton, Maclean and Yamba are all a short drive away.
