We have 250 acres (100Ha) of land, of which 175ac is for Livestock and remaining 75ac for bushy style camping . Enjoy the night sky, the wildlife, the quietness and several walk tracks. There are several camp sites to choose from, Grasslands camp/RV sites are in a large 5 acre clearing around the dam. Good for large and small groups. Creek Camp is a further 800m through the bush, a smaller site for privacy. ** Be aware of Fire Restrictions October to April: RFS website contact me. Access by 2WD Cars and vans OK except after much rain. Inquire if in question. Located, just 25 minutes from the pristine beaches of Yamba and Iluka. Across the river and just 15 minutes from the Scottish town of Maclean, nestled high in the Yamba hinterland. You will not hear traffic, you will not see headlights. Pure peace and tranquility for you to relax, chill and enjoy. The sites are surrounded by rugged mountainous bush land with views, trails, cliffs, 3 creeks to explore and includes a private lake ‘Lake Arid’ with its own island, ‘Dead Dog Island’. Swim, paddle, fish, play. Metres away is another private swimming hole ‘Pants Off Pond’ stocked with Silver Perch and Bass. So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you. Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole. The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike. The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground. Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows… Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house. Accessible by 2WD with sites with enough space for any size caravan or motor home. While exploring, if you find a spot you’d rather camp, simply ask. We live on the property so help is nearby for any issues and the access road is shared. Peace, quiet and nature abounds.

We also require guests to provide us with an ETA, preferably at the time of booking and no later than 24 hours prior to arrival. We expect you to arrive within 30 minutes of the time you specify. If you are unable to comply with these conditions, then you should not book with us. We do not have staff available to deal with early, late or unannounced arrivals. However, we do have portable toilet and shower units available for hire (see under Extras). We are a 55 hectare alpaca & llama stud & sugar cane farm, just off the Pacific Hwy, on Harwood Island, in the Clarence River. Our extensive and carefully-maintained pastures offer a wide selection of peaceful, private campsites. There are also numerous small stands of natural vegetation providing shade and shelter. In close proximity to us are shopping centres, surfing beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty. We operate as a cottage industry, processing alpaca fleece & manufacturing products from it. We regularly conduct tours & maintain a small farm shop. We also offer a full range of home-cooked meals. NOTE: If you book Extras or Meals you choice of campsites will be limited.

Ben from Central Queensland and Lupe from Argentina have recently taken the reigns and are eagerly looking forward to hosting further guests. Our property is situated on the North Coast of NSW, 1.5 hours south of Byron Bay in a glorious climate. It is unique because we have 5 acres of land, lots trees for shade, mowed grass and Eastern Grey kangaroos visit morning and evening. Situated in a very quiet neighbourhood, no street lights, magic night skies but only 10 minutes drive to local shops in Maclean, 15 minutes to Yuraygir National Park, fantastic views at Brooms Head, 15 minutes to Yamba's renowned surfing beaches. Did I mention fishing? Clarence River, ocean beaches, boat ramps only 10 minutes away. Only a small number of campsites which ensures that you have space to spread out, light a fire, play ball, have fun. We have a toilet and water available close to sites. Suits tent camping, camper vans, caravans or vehicles. Plenty of room for boat parking if needed. You are welcome to bring your dog, as long as it is under control, and cannot chase our kangaroos. Birdlife in abundance as well, including 3 Wedgetail eagles on occasions. In order to provide a quiet environment for everyone we ask that there be no loud music at night. Consider others in the locality at all times.

We were travelling and left it until last minute to find a place to camp. The host replied immediately and we lucked in big time getting a great spot overlooking the farm complete with ‘viewing platform’, friendly farm dogs and a field full of kangaroos. Super quiet, great sunset, close to Maclean and away from the tourist chaos of Yamba. We did plenty in the area - ran the Yuraigir coastal trail, visited Maclean, went to the Angourie pools and got some uninterrupted sleep!

Great easy to access location with breathtaking view of the river. VERY very new and clean toilets and the flat grassy areas were perfect for our camper. We also had to get to the site a bit later than expected and the hosts were gracious enough to still meet us at the site upon arrival and give us the quick run down and meet and greet. 10/10. We’ll be back and recommending to friends!

I was very lucky to have the pleasure of staying at this beautiful campsite, what more could you want? Waterfront site with power and water for caravans . We did lots of fishing going into Yamba which is only a stone throw away. It was definitely near enough but far enough away . the Owner of the property are absolutely lovely, Jan even gave the children that were staying with us a going away gift of two handmade kangaroos toys. I would highly recommend this this hip camp spot if you want to relax and just chill out?

Lovely grassed campground right on the river. The sites are long and narrow so you need to reverse in towards the river. You can set up side on if it's not too busy and the site next to you is empty. Access to the river is not too easy with steep banks that are overgrown. There is a section that has been cleared to allow easier access but it is quite small. Saw plenty of catfish being caught. Both Telstra and Optus coverage was non existent. There are flushing toilets provided as well as a potable water tap. Grafton, Maclean and Yamba are all a short drive away.

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through the serene Kooyong State Conservation Area, a haven of natural beauty spanning 753 hectares. Nestled along the southern section of the Richmond Range, this park invites you to immerse yourself in its rich biodiversity. Although there are no campgrounds within the conservation area, the former Needlebark Flora Reserve and remnants of Giberagee State Forest offer a tranquil escape for day visitors.

When to go

The best time to visit Kooyong State Conservation Area is during the milder months of autumn and spring, when the weather is pleasant for exploring. Summer can be quite warm, making early morning or late afternoon visits more comfortable. Winter provides a crisp, cool climate, ideal for avid bushwalkers.
