Check out the rail trail! then ....... Rest and absorb the tranquil sound of the creeks running water from the comfort of the Shepherds Hut. Rest and revitalise in warmth of the outdoor bath tub, on the deck, on the day bed with its window overlooking the creek, or in front of the fire each evening. You can choose, closed and cosy or open and airy, either is easy in the Shepherds Hut. Indulge in the steaming warmth of either the outdoor or indoor showers, or the stand out favourite .....the outdoor bath! The Hut is fully contained with everything you need for a fabulous stay. Crockery, cutlery, toaster, electric jug, electric frypan, mini air fry oven. (no microwave) Enjoy warming your toes around the outdoor fire pit as you gaze at the stars above. A perfect base to explore the new Northern Rivers Rail Trail which is just a couple of kms up our quiet country road. Stroll around country roads next to creeks, or for the more active ask the host about full day hikes to little known but spectacular Mt Chowan and Unicorn falls. Or if you prefer the option to stay on the property, enjoy bushwalking, hiking and bird watching, or just relax and unwind. We are located a short 20 minute drive from the remote Wooyung beach, or 35 min from Byron. Just 7 kms from the village of Burringbar which has a grocery and liquor store, Thai food and woodfired pizza.Walk or Ride the Rail Trail ......or not ! Beautiful spot! Loved waking up to the trees and the birds and the dog loved it too. It was easy to find and only a few minutes from such a lovely town. Will be back soon!

Great weekend away even in rain

Shepherds Hut - Rail Trail Acomm.
We had the best time staying here despite changes in our plans due to the weather, the local stores and restaurants are great and despite only briefly being able to explore the railway trail in break of rain we had a blast. The cabin itself is set up amazingly and they have done an amazing job of planting different vegetation and making the property feel like a magical spot. 5/5 ⭐ My only feedback is the tubs for kitchen storage would be a little easier to use if they their contents were labelled on the tub but that's my only piece of constructive feedback for the place.

Very enjoyable
Shepherds Hut - Rail Trail Acomm.
The cabin and facilities were clean, comfortable, well presented and everything you need in a private location. Accessing the rail trail was very easy, just down the road, ride straight from the door. If you’re looking for a comfortable, private base to take on the trail and enjoy the surrounding sights I highly recommend a stay here.

Peaceful Retreat
Shepherds Hut - Rail Trail Acomm.
I had an excellent experience—quiet, relaxed, and just what I needed. The cabin was spotless and cozy, with everything I needed already there. A thoughtful welcome gift was waiting in the fridge, which was such a nice touch. Craig was friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind!

Comfy & cozy, perfect for the NRRT!
Shepherds Hut - Rail Trail Acomm.
We had a very peaceful stay at the Hut, surrounded by nature - a highlight being sleeping with all the windows open under the net, and hearing the babbling creek, and bird & insect life all around us. It’s the perfect spot to hit the Rail Trail, we did 58km and soaked in the hot tub that night. The Hut has everything you need - bbq, coffee machine, kitchen utensils, large fridge, linen & towels. Burringbar town is super close if you want a meal out. We had a delicious breakfast at Teakwood, and got to meet Craig and have a chat about the history of the property. It’s a lovely place for couples to disconnect.

A truly unique and lovely spot. A wonderful little place that the dogs enjoyed exploring especially jumping into the creek. Such a relaxing atmosphere overall enjoyed our stay.

Overall was okay however not what we expected/worth the cost. Majority of outdoor fairy lights (3/4) not working so difficult to set-up outside and manage a fire. Outdoor bath had dead cane toads (had obviously been there for more than a day) and full of leaves, the place was reported cleaned 2 days prior however when paying the premium you'd expect this to be checked prior to check-in Paid for a firewood bundle however wood was damp, no kindling provided and due to wet weather was difficult to find kindling & start a fire - in other hipcamps/airbnbs firewood has been free with kindling and firestarters provided so was disappointing that despite paying for it, it wasn't provided. Otherwise nice touches like bath salts provided and in beautiful area, my husband and I had come for our joint birthdays so we were pretty disappointed

I recently stayed at this property and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot to relax and recharge. It’s so tranquil and peaceful, making it the ideal escape from the daily grind. One of the best parts is how close it is to the Rail Trail, which is perfect for anyone who loves walking or cycling. Being able to step out and explore nature so easily was such a bonus. Whether you’re looking to unwind or enjoy some outdoor adventures, this place is truly a hidden gem.

What a beautiful hidden, private gem! We stayed here for our 15th wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint! Actually our best getaway yet! Super clean, super private and super quiet - we’ll be back again soon!

Amazing spot for a weekend getaway. Although it was raining all weekend the design of the cabin allowed us to enjoy the spot and unwind! A cheese platter and wine on the deck, and a soak in the outdoor bath. Do yourself a favour! Book this for your next weedend getaway!

We absolutely loved our time at the Shephards Hut; the tiny home was so brilliantly built with all the comforts and utilities we required on top of the little luxuries like the outdoor tub and fire pit! We really treasured how much it opened up and allowed us to immerse ourselves in the beautiful surroundings while still feeling very private. Craig stopped by to stay hello and gave us tips on what sights we could see in the area—the rail trail train tunnel was fantastic! Really appreciate the effort and care that went into this site :)

The Shepherds Hut was fantastic. We had a family of four stay and although we were out and about during the day, it was the perfect little place to rest our weary bones at the end of the day with a soak in the tub and dinner by the fire under the festoon lighting. Beds were very comfortable and all the amenities you might need. Craig was a lovely host and we even saw platypus in the waterways on the property, which was very special.

A lovely private cabin for a couple’s getaway. Excellent location if you’re planning on riding the southern sections of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. We loved the outdoor bath and festoon lights. Super relaxing. Definitely arrive before dark though! The wi-DI was appreciated as we didn’t get decent phone reception for calls or data. The price you pay for seclusion! :)
