78km from Ravensbourne National Park · 11 sites · Tents, RVs · Tarome, QLD
We have 178 acres of beautiful land hidden in the hills of Tarome in the Scenic Rim community. An amazing view of the national park and Cunninghams Gap. There is a hidden creek at the back of the property that never runs dry, running from Gap Creek Falls at the top of Cunninghams Gap. The location is perfect for a quick getaway or long stay, complete privacy and little reception depending on your phone service, ensuring a peaceful camping stay. There is lots of activities within a short drive from the property including fishing at Lake Moogerah, hiking the mountain tops or having brunch at the amazing local cafe's in the area. Our campsites are hidden in the hills, down by the creek or out in the open. You will need a 4 WD to access the rear of the property. There is a steep incline at the beginning of the track followed by a tight corner because of this caravans must be off road and under 17 ft. Make sure your car has the power and weight to get it up the hill. There are 3 x 2WD camping options for caravans over 17ft or those not off road. Depending on the type of vehicle and van will dictate your camping locations. Maximum caravan access for the rear of the property is 17ft off road van. This is due to the hill climb and a tight corner at the top. Please be aware of the weight you are towing and your car is capable of pulling it up the hill. Dogs are welcome but must stay within the camp, be under control or on a leash. If you have friends who you want to invite but don't have camping gear that's okay, we have the option to hire a camper trailer. All they need to bring is food and drinks. Only 1 available, please see Extras. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. All human, food and general waste is to be removed upon leaving the campsite. We have fireplaces set up but if you prefer a different site for your fire please bring your own fire pit. Good Firewood for camp ovens etc is available for purchase under Extras. Pre order your wood. For this one off price we will supply you for wood for your whole stay. There is sometimes wood located at each campsite but the amount and quality is varied. Check in and out times are flexibility but please arrange time prior to arrival

Tarome offers some of the best views of the Main Range and Cunninghams Gap, all of which you can enjoy from the site. The sunsets here are spectacular. The Warrill Creek runs through the property, adjacent to the campsite and is home to an abundance of wildlife and vegetation all of which you are welcome to explore. The creek runs seasonally and makes a beautiful swimming area, but is just as enjoyable when dry allowing for a great path to explore the area. The site is only a short drive off the main road so the property offers an ideal spot for short stopovers, or alternatively use it as a base to explore the rest of the Scenic Rim. The abundance of walking, hiking, fishing or biking opportunities in the area are endless, or if you are more into relaxing into some food tasting and wineries then you’ve hit the jackpot. Just an hour and a half from Brisbane CBD! In lieu of camping with nature there are no amenities and limited service with some providers, but if you are chasing something in particular please let us know. We are happy to help. By staying with us you are helping a young family achieve our dream of running a sustainable, eco friendly food production business, we genuinely appreciate your support.

The best camping in Ravensbourne National Park, QLD guide

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through the verdant landscapes of Ravensbourne National Park. With no campgrounds within its bounds, the park instead invites day visitors to explore its scenic walking tracks, marvel at panoramic views from Gus Beutel lookout, and enjoy picnics amid the cool, moist remnants of rainforest.

When to go

The best time to visit Ravensbourne National Park is during the cooler months, from April to September, when the weather is mild and conducive for hiking and birdwatching. Summer brings heavy rains and storms, making some tracks less accessible.

Know before you go

  • Supervise children closely as tracks have steep drop-offs and can be slippery, especially after rain.
  • Wear a hat, apply sunscreen, and sturdy walking shoes for your adventure.
  • Carry drinking water and treat or boil park water before consumption.
  • Be mindful of stinging nettles and giant stinging trees; wearing long trousers and sleeves is advisable.
  • Check the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation website for any park alerts before your visit.
