Our 70 acre farm is nestled at the base of the Great Dividing Range on Githabul Country. We’re 5 mins outside of the town of Killarney, with sealed roads (and no river crossings) right to our front gate. Queen Mary Falls is a 10 min drive and if you turn right out of our driveway, you can head 2km down the road to start the Condamine River Crossings. We have both cattle 🐮and chickens 🐔on our property, including a rooster, who does get up early sometimes 😅 and a small vineyard 🍇. The creek that runs along our boundary is home to platypus and rainbow trout and we have seen a number of echidnas around the farm, particularly in the more timbered areas. Videos of our sites and the farm in general can be found on Youtube, here: https://www.youtube.com/@elliamfarm Our property has a range of site options available, so use the filters to find a site that suits you. Our property is accessible by 2WD, however not all campsites are 2WD accessible, so it's best to double-check the description.

(24)
23km from Mount Clunie National Park · 4 sites · Tents, RVs · Legume, NSW
Aroona Farm is a 200-acre cattle property run and owned by a young family of 4. 'Aroona' is an aboriginal word meaning "place of refreshing" or "place of running water" which represents this beautiful property well with its natural springs that open up out of the mountain, into a 'forest-like' section of the property and runs into the gully. We also have Acacia Creek that runs through the front which is the head of the Clarence River. Feel free to have a splash in the refreshing water with a couple of swimming holes. Explore our property on foot with many beautiful places to see, and animals (cattle and horses) to watch and pat. Or simply sit back, around the fire with friends and/or family and enjoy the stunning sunsets while listening to the sounds of nature. We offer several designated camping areas, each private with lovely views. Some are much larger and suitable for groups with multiple tents/caravans etc, whereas some are smaller and ideal for couples and groups of 1 or 2 small families. All sites require campers have their own camp toilet, and take all waste when they go. Queen Mary Falls, Dagg's, and Browns Falls (walking track) Killarney QLD is roughly an 8.4km drive and Carr's Lookout is about 15km drive. We are a 7min drive to Cambanoora Gorge '14 River Crossing' - please make sure you check if it's open prior to going* The small country township of Killarney QLD (7km drive) has everything you need to stock up.

17. Amaroo Mountain Refuge

(28)
29km from Mount Clunie National Park · 1 site · Tent, RV · Grevillia, NSW
Amaroo also known to some long time visitors as Snake Valley, is situated on a massive property and backs onto the Toonumbar National park. The property sits at the top of a 2.7km dirt road to the top of a small mountain with incredible views of Mount Lindsay and Mount Barney. The owner (my dad) has spent over 30 years bringing the land back from blade glass to the early stages of rainforest through native seed propagation and bush regeneration. After decades of keeping the land free from domestic and commercial animals, the native wildlife has had come back in abundance and is thriving. Depending on the time of year you could see any number of wallabies, goannas, and echidnas, to countless varieties of birds and butterflies, small marsupials, koalas, micro bats, snakes, and even a few lone dingoes have been spotted from a distance during duck breeding season. Therefore we don’t allow dogs or cats to be brought onto the property. Pitch your tent, or pull up your situation either on level gravel or in a grassy zone however close or far from the communal zone as you wish. The communal zone is made up of a shack with a kitchen sink and a BBQ (BYO BBQ gas or you will need to request as an extra), there is tank water and lights all running off solar, a big long bench table and stools for preparing food, underneath the pagola of this open shack is an indoor fireplace. 50m from the shack connected by gravel paths and garden beds is the hot gas shower and composting toilet, each in their own enclosed dwellings with lights. From the shack and where you camp you will have the best views of the mountains. You will be 100m-ish from the top main dam where you can swim (we just ask that you don’t remove the fish, yabbies or turtles from their homes). The level below the shack is the main house where the property owner lives, and the level below that is the motocross tracks. There are walking and bike paths down to the motocross tracks that avoid going past the main house, if you are riding or just want to go for a walk. PLS NOTE you may be around other people during your stay at Amaroo. There is a small community of motorcross riders that access the private tracks and sometimes camp. If you wish to have the campsite to yourself please msg us before booking to make sure it will be exclusive. Most of the time this property is peaceful and filled with noises of birds and tree breeze, but there are occasions where the tracks will be in use. Motorbikes can get noisy!

33km from Mount Clunie National Park · 11 sites · Tents, RVs · Tarome, QLD
We have 178 acres of beautiful land hidden in the hills of Tarome in the Scenic Rim community. An amazing view of the national park and Cunninghams Gap. There is a hidden creek at the back of the property that never runs dry, running from Gap Creek Falls at the top of Cunninghams Gap. The location is perfect for a quick getaway or long stay, complete privacy and little reception depending on your phone service, ensuring a peaceful camping stay. There is lots of activities within a short drive from the property including fishing at Lake Moogerah, hiking the mountain tops or having brunch at the amazing local cafe's in the area. Our campsites are hidden in the hills, down by the creek or out in the open. You will need a 4 WD to access the rear of the property. There is a steep incline at the beginning of the track followed by a tight corner because of this caravans must be off road and under 17 ft. Make sure your car has the power and weight to get it up the hill. There are 3 x 2WD camping options for caravans over 17ft or those not off road. Depending on the type of vehicle and van will dictate your camping locations. Maximum caravan access for the rear of the property is 17ft off road van. This is due to the hill climb and a tight corner at the top. Please be aware of the weight you are towing and your car is capable of pulling it up the hill. Dogs are welcome but must stay within the camp, be under control or on a leash. If you have friends who you want to invite but don't have camping gear that's okay, we have the option to hire a camper trailer. All they need to bring is food and drinks. Only 1 available, please see Extras. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. The best camping in Mount Clunie National Park, NSW guide

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through the rugged beauty of Mount Clunie National Park. Established in 1999, this park spans 1426 hectares of pristine wilderness, inviting explorers to immerse themselves in its diverse landscapes. Traverse through lush forests, spot local wildlife, and soak in the serenity of nature's untouched canvas. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual day-tripper, Mount Clunie offers a wealth of activities to satisfy your thirst for the great outdoors.

When to go

The best time to visit Mount Clunie National Park is during the milder months, from April to September, when the weather is conducive for hiking and wildlife spotting. Summer can be quite warm, making it less ideal for strenuous activities. Always check for local alerts and park management updates before planning your trip, as conditions can change rapidly.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you have a detailed map before exploring, as the park's vastness can be challenging to navigate.
  • Check the latest updates on fires, closures, and other alerts before your visit.
  • Contact the Kyogle office from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, for any inquiries.
  • Remember, it's never safe to drive, ride, or walk through floodwaters; plan your visit accordingly.
  • For emergencies within the park, contact services on Triple Zero (000).
