Peaceful pup friendly retreat
We had a fantastic stay at BlackBerry Creek and absolutely fell in love with the area! The location, Kimblehurst, is a stunning spot in Emu Vale, with breathtaking views of cliffs and rolling hills. We really enjoyed exploring the Southern Downs region—it’s such a beautiful, peaceful area.
The directions to the site were spot-on, though a quick tip—screenshot them as there’s no reception out there! Kev greeted us as we arrived and made sure we felt right at home. The wooden shelter on the site was a real bonus, offering extra outdoor space to escape the heat and occasional rain.
One of the highlights was the rocky swimming hole, which was surprisingly warm and the perfect place to unwind with a cold drink after a day of exploring. My hubby even added his personal touch by building some rock stairs to help with the steep access to the hole, and it definitely made a difference for me! Our dogs loved the space to roam, and it was so refreshing to disconnect from the world.
Kev had also thoughtfully built us a fire to light up, which was such a welcoming gesture after a long drive. We could just sit back, relax, and enjoy the stunning views without any stress. The area is full of great things to do—we didn’t manage the walk up to the plane due to the heat (the pups were too tired), but we had a blast driving the many tracks and exploring the no-through roads.
BlackBerry Creek is definitely one to add to your list if you're looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning scenery!
