Overall it was good, acces to Creek wasn't what we thought and access with a van could get tricky if you were amateur. It wasn't to bad, very spacey and the kids enjoyed climbing the hill and exploring the creek.

We stayed on site 1 and it was a beautiful, serene spot amongst the trees. The sound of the nearby creek was lovely, and access to firewood and a recycling bin was appreciated. Anna was very welcoming and gave us all the info we needed. We'd love to stay again.

Lovely quiet spot. Nice spacious area amongst the trees, with plenty of flat ground to choose from if tent camping. Plenty of water in the creek, which puppy loved, but a little chilly for me this time of year.

Anna was so welcoming and friendly! We loved our stay! The creek was beautiful and we had a great time exploring and relaxing by the camp fire! Would love to come back again in Summer! Kids and dog loved the get away, would 100% recommend! Thanks for sharing your home with us!

We had such a great time camping at Anna and Steve’s property. They were both so hospitable and lovely. The property itself is beautiful and our kids spent all day playing alongside the creek. We would highly recommend.

Fantastic location if you want to be camping in a secluded bush site. Anna and Steve were great hosts. Plenty of firewood available and a great flat site to pitch the tent. Thanks for a great stay Anna and Steve.

We like to be able to see the water from our campsite and that wasn’t the case but also no cleared path down to the water You needed to walk a good 100 metres to a good accessible entrance to water

Camped at site 1 and it was amazing. Large site with a huge fire pit in the middle. We had 2 15ft vans and you could easily fit 2 or 3 more and not be on top of each other. Site was beautifully maintained and no weeds. Site 2 was at the other end of the creek so both sites were private. Went to sleep with the sound of water rippling which was lovely. Road in and out over the causeway was steep but very easy to traverse, not rough or rocky. Anna was great communicating with us and met us at the gate to show us to our site. Tip : when looking for the driveway keep an eye out for the little metal car atop some tyres ( we were going a bit quick and missed it, had to turn around which with a van was a bit difficult) overall an amazing stay.

Easter 2025 Site 1

Our family stayed at Site 1 for Easter 2025. The site is reasonably level has good shade and very private. Access to Swan Creek easy down at the crossing. We had a group of 4 adults, 3 children, and one dog. With three tents, large tarp shelter, and toilet ensuite, we had plenty of room. Fire pit was big. Creek was safe for kids with supervision. It was flowing pretty well so a good deep pool at the crossing, slow knee to waist deep to the west and cascades and small pools knee deep to the east. Anna was really friendly and helpful and checked in a couple of times which is always nice. Highly recommend.

Easter camping at Higgins Country Retreat was great! Site 2 easily accommodated our group of 12. There is a steep section to the creek but we had no issues towing our camper in and out. Anna provides clear directions and instructions. We would stay again.

Such a lovely, peaceful weekend at Anna and Steven's beautiful property! Anna's was so welcoming and showed us to our site, and even took us to see some of the other parts of the property while we were having a chat. We ended up staying at site 2 because site 3 wasn't accessible after heavy rain, and it was a beautiful, private spot right on the creek. Cold dips to start the morning, and incredible stars by the fire at night. Thanks for a restful weekend Anna!!

We found a spot up the end of campsite 2 which was very spacious and offered multiple sites. There was exceptional communication and courtesy from the hosts. The creek was beautiful with lots of birds and clear crisp water. Thank you.

I was so impressed with the sites natural beauty and privacy. Access to a running creek and surrounded by some amazing wildlife, it was the perfect getaway with a fire pit and a million stars to count.

Relaxing long weekend

This was our second visit to Anna and Steve property and this time we were on site 2 with heaps of flat areas to set up and two good size fire pits with plenty of firewood to use. The site had plenty of shady trees and a little stroll down to the creek. Anna greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming then left us to enjoy there beautiful property for the long weekend. We all definitely will be back another time.

We stayed at site 2 with 4 caravans 2 tents & 2 roof tops. There was still heaps of room. The ground was nice and flat, area clean. Recycle bin was provided. A nice size fire pit. It’s a little walk to the water hole. It was lovely to relax in on a hot day. Our 8 dogs loved it. The cicadas were loud as mentioned in a review but only for an hour then they went away. It was a private relaxing spot and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful creekside farm

Our family of 4 enjoyed a long weekend stay and would definitely recommend Higgins to other campers. We stayed in our Jayco Expanda caravan and had no issues accessing the site which was open and level. Swimming and exploring the creek was lovely on a hot day, make sure to bring reef shoes though as the submerged rocks are slippery. In the afternoons we were invited up so the kids could help feed the animals and the hosts were kind enough to share some of their tasty home grown fruits and veggies. We visited the nearby town of Killarney which had some great art and a park for the kids, the local coffee shop also makes a great coffee. Our kids are very much looking forward to coming back!

Cicadas are deafening!

We booked a 4 night stay here and left after the first night. If you enjoy a peaceful and relaxing camping trip, be warned the cicadas will make this impossible! From 4.30am to late at night, the noise level was near deafening, having to shout at each other to communicate and making our dogs all very restless and anxious. The creek is also too shallow to kayak in with the host informing us that kayaking is available at the dam 20 mins away. We won’t be returning.
