This 30 acre property has been in the family for over 37 years and is where I lived my childhood. Now we are running a self-funded Horse Sanctuary and offering camping in a rural setting just a 2.5km drive from the township of Lowood. Our Land for Wildlife registered property has over 30 species of birdlife and many native animals including kangaroos, koalas and echidna.
Stunning sunrises and sunsets and all within walking distance of Lowood shops along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail which stretches for nearly 1km along the boundary. Situated halfway between Fernvale and Coominya makes this an ideal stop on your BVRT adventure or is ideal for a quick getaway being only an hour or so from Brisbane CBD.

-Brisbane river is up the road (10mins) to Savages crossing or Twin Bridges. Fantastic swimming or lazing in the running water.
-Push bikes,
Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is 5min away if you jump on at Borallon Station Rd. Some cattle tracks for the kids to ride along in the paddock also.
-Wivenhoe, Somerset Dam in the area for water sports
-Wildlife watching, this paddock sustains a large variety of native animals, if you’ve got a keen eye
-Bottle Tree pub is just down the road, - bit more than walking distance tho :)

Come and relax at our flat, peaceful 5 acre hobby farm. Most animals wander around for example the sheep, ducks and chooks, turkeys So tough plastic boxes are great to keep your food items safe.
We have a mini pig (Splat) that is now in the house yard due to pushing fences and getttongbout
She loves pats, runs and a brush. She is super gentle.
Sometimes the horses are at nearby agistment so, ask if the horses cam be here for your visit.
Baby animals are seasonal.
There are a couple of small playgrounds, clean double flushing toilets, picnic tables, gas bbq and chairs for your convenience and a nice above ground pool to stay cool in.
We have firewood for sale, and I make a barrista coffee if your a coffee lover, like myself.
Bring some cash for firewood, coffee and other bits and pieces. There's a kids surprise cupboard, with toys to borrow while your staying here.
The $45 camp fee pays for 2 adults and 1 child. Just message me about extra guests as hipcamp adding extras doesn't work properly. You can pay by cash or transfer on arrival if necessary.
Extra adults campers I will discount to $15 instead of $20 adults and $5 for kids.
We also offer day visits for $5 per person.
Plenty of room for caravans, buses and horse floats. I have a round yard and horse yards and horses are $10 per horse/night to cover water costs. BYO hay.
Wivenhoe Dam (photo of big water mass) , Atkinson Dam and the Brisbane river are all close by. The famous rail trail that a lot of horse riders and cyclists enjoy is just a klm down the road. (keep an eye out for koalas)

We provide an exclusive booking for you on absolute river frontage for tents and camper trailers.
Spend your time swimming, fishing, canoeing or simply sipping a cold drink on the pontoon under the umbrella. With an easterly aspect you’ll want to spend the morning swimming or exploring the riverscape and when the afternoon shade sets in light the campfire and put your feet up.
Please note... our campsite has been ongoing since 2017 and campers have kindly shared their many happy memories. Over the years, things change. Please take the photos lightly.
There is no vehicular boat ramp but still excellent access for other small watercraft. Due to the steep track to the camp area we insist on 4WD’s only - though you can walk down if feeling energetic!
Please bring drinking water and a desire to leave the riverside just as you found it. We have enough room for around 20 people in tents or camper trailers.

Campfires are permitted in the circle but please be mindful of any restrictions. You can purchase firewood from us if needed.

We are a working small rural property so with that comes seasonal tractor work/trucks and an element of busy, depending on what projects are on the go! Real taste of rural life while being smack bang in the privacy and serenity of our buzzing property!

The large campsite is located alongside our 14 acre dam with a pontoon and dam banks to explore.
The site is flat and mowed with easy access from the road for caravans.
The dam is perfect to launch a SUP/ canoe out on, float around on floaties and spot some turtles or eels.
Great to swim in/ try your luck with a fishing rod, but NO JUMPING from the pontoon as water levels vary and submerged debris/ trees etc. (common sense swimming in dam and water sources.)
The pontoon is perfect for evening sunsets (or a sneaky proposal, which has happened a few times already!)
** Please be very conscious of deciding to camp with children in close proximity to an open water source. Safety is our highest priority.
The campsite is bordered by seasonal crops.
We also have Cattle that rotate through different paddocks on the property, depending on feed and crop cycles. (Not all guests will have cattle about sorry kiddies!)
**Pets welcome, but to remain under STRICT supervision. Not to chase cattle or wildlife. **
Our property is also home to the local remote controlled airplane club.
Guests will be able to see and hear them buzzing around of a weekend. You can watch from the campsite but we ask not to walk through the paddocks or approach the club.
During weekday stays (and some weekends) you will have the pleasure to see fighter aircraft, KC-30s and the impressive C17 Globe masters doing some low flying and pass overs as we are just on the edge of the Amberley RAAF Base circuit area.

We purchased our block as a rural escape. It's 25 acres of koala protected bush. Camping is on grassy areas amongst the trees, this is basic bush camping suited to fully self sufficient campers. Our block is completely off grid, there is no power or water.

Look for koalas and other wildlife: quails, ducks, birds, kangaroos, deer (our property is koala protected bush. Wildlife must not be disturbed).
Under a minute drive to local creek and swimming hole.
A few minutes drive to Wivenhoe dam recreation area.
15-minute drive to Fernvale for supplies (and one of the famous pies from the bakery).
20 minute drive to Somerset Dam for all your water sport fun.
Stop at a swimming hole or lookout on your way up to scenic Mt Glorious. We are about a 15 minute drive from Northbrook Gorge, a popular local hike.

We are a very short 900m bicycle ride from the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BRVT) which is one of the must-do cycle treks in the southern hemisphere. Camp fires are permitted in communal fire areas or at your camp in provided fire drums. There is a limited number of fire drums available, so you are welcome to bring your own fully enclosed off the ground fire bin. The only exception will be if a local fire ban is activated. We have firewood available for sale, or you can collect free firewood off the ground. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood. No chainsaws allowed.
Please note that there is no potable water on site. You must bring your own DRINKING water.
During extreme weather events the property can be affected, so if rain is forecast, please call before heading out.
Things to do and see:
The Grandchester hotel is a short 10min walk away and offers cold drinks, great meals, take aways available and friendly country hospitality.
Spicers Hidden Vale is approximately 6km away and perfect for bike riders. It also has a coffee shop, restaurant and walking tracks.
Grandchester scale model rail rides run once a month.
All sites are unpowered. Generators are welcome between 7am and 9pm.

What a magic spot, so much room and easy access to the river. The toilet provided is amazing, makes things so much easier. So much wildlife to sit and watch as you throw a line in to try your luck. We had the best stay and will be back for sure.

Loved our stay! The campsite was really lovely and shaded, although we did struggle with our solar at times because of the amount of shade. It wasn’t a major issue though. We especially loved all the birds and wildlife around the camp, and were lucky enough to spot a platypus in the creek a few times, which was definitely a highlight! Such a peaceful and relaxing spot, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back.

We really enjoyed our camping weekend at Split Yard Creek. Nice quiet peaceful. The hosts came and introduced themselves and then left us to it. Their dogs came and visited a couple of times which I found fine, but just something to be aware of. We are already looking at our calender as th when we can go back for another weekend.

This was my 2nd visit to Cameron’s property and I think Kippa’s Rest is my new favourite site. The weather was perfect. Cold at night and warm by day. Kangaroo’s near by, bird life everywhere. I highly recommend all the sites, but particularly Kippa’s Rest.

Very peaceful campsite with rural outlook. We actually camped in the grove area, as it was more secluded. The creeks were pretty low, but in winter it was great no insects, the ground was all grass and Kevin the owner was very welcoming.

Booked the unpowered dam paddock. Directions were spot on. Lynn made the arrival so easy. Fire pit available, toilets provided, along with camp kitchen and shower block. All very clean.

Loved my 3 nights at Date Palms site. Good directions, drive straight in to camp, level, green grass, no prickles. Secluded from other sites, I could sometimes hear neighbours but couldn’t see them. The whole property is beautifully maintained so it’s a pretty outlook. The host Kevin is very friendly, delivered my pre ordered firewood and told me a bit of history about the farm. There was no flies, mosquitoes or ants. Shame only a little water in the creek. I would love to see it full. Next time I’ll make sure it’s after lots of rain to see the creek maybe half full.

Excellent site! The views are spectacular, ample flat camping spots, toilet is nearby campsites but not close enough to smell. Easy access down to the river to the timber dock for fishing.

First time staying at Bare's Hideaway and we can't wait to go back. The land was spacious with lots of different areas to set up. While basic and outdoorsy, they had the best showers and toilets!
There was a camp kitchen that we didn't use but looked great.
Goats and sheep roamed freely and were a hit with the kids (small and big).
It was such a great place to just unhitch and unwind.

Lovely stay, nice open fields with some horses nearby. Beautiful location. Multiple fire pits setup around the paddock. Lynn came up to us on arrival and checked in on us to see if we needed firewood. Would recommend.
