3 nights at Bellbird Lodge

We absolutely loved our stay here! We set off with our three boys (12, 11, and 8) and stayed at Campsite 4 — we had the whole area to ourselves. From exploring rock pools and swimming, to kicking the footy and roasting marshmallows under a sky full of stars, it was the perfect getaway. The sound of the rushing creek (thanks to rain the night before) was so calming to fall asleep to. The boys had plenty to do and had to get creative as they had zero access to technology (thank god) skimming rocks, learning about nature and just connecting as a family without the day to day interruptions. Paul was a fantastic host. It had rained heavily the day we arrived, so everything was wet and we struggled to get a fire going. He came down without hesitation to lend a hand and got it started for us. Such a genuine, kind person — we’re so grateful he shared his beautiful space with us. The place is healing, peaceful, and completely off-grid. The toilet was a bit of a hike, but honestly, we didn’t really mind. Our kids came home with a new appreciation for the simpler things — and so did we. We didn’t really want to leave. Thank you Paul for sharing your beautiful home! The only thing I would say is that if there has been some heavy rainfall there are a few crossing before you get to Paul’s. We were fine but just check for conditions in case. Otherwise it was our version of perfect. 🩷

Second stay at Hopevale in Windmill Hollow and it doesn't disappoint. Jason and family are great hosts, facilities are clean and well kept. One of the most peaceful places I have camped in 4 decades of doing so.

Me and my two young sons spent two nights in the hidden gym. We loved it. The size of the camp sites are more than adequate. We loved the kayaking and the boys loved the pony rides . Highly recommend .

Weekend Trip to Hopevale Adventure Camping

Big Fig campsite was a fantastic experience! The camp spot itself was great—clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. Tucked away behind the scrub, it felt wonderfully secluded, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. The expansive campsite is accessed via a private driveway, which added to the sense of exclusivity and privacy. Its location right next to the creek was a highlight, providing a serene backdrop. The site is flat, making it ideal for setting up tents comfortably. We pitched our extra-large 8mx4m tent at the opposite end of the big fig and fire pit to avoid smoke drifting in, which worked perfectly and had the bonus of being grassier. Despite the tent’s size, it fit comfortably within the camp spot, leaving plenty of room for our two boys to run around and play. The cozy fire pit near the fig tree added a charming touch, perfect for evening gatherings. It’s just a short 50m walk to the composting toilet and hot shower, ensuring comfort without sacrificing the natural vibe. On the afternoon of setup, an unexpected downpour hit, catching us off guard. However, Jason, the host, was incredibly caring and went out of his way to check on us, even offering alternative shelter for the night. As we’d already pitched the tent and were nearly done setting up, we politely declined, but his thoughtfulness left a lasting impression. Highly recommend Big Fig for its beautiful setting and exceptional hospitality!

Beautiful piece of country and a gorgeous view overlooking the lake. At night the chorus of frogs came to life and during the day the platypus surprised with a visit in the lake. Neil and Joss went out of their way to make you feel at home.

Beautiful, sandy bottomed creek, grassy area perfect for kicking footy. Nice little shed area with pot belly stove (very handy if it’s raining and you can’t use the outdoor fire pits). Kids loved trampoline and swings. Friendly owners. Would stay again and recommend 👍

Jena and Rick are your traditional, salt of the earth people. They were fantastic hosts - met us on arrival and made sure we settled in on. The heavens opened halfway through our stay and they messaged us to checkin and make sure we were ok. Even offered us a dry bed if we got stuck! Beautiful, quiet spot!

Lovely, private spot for the family. Tidy and clean facilities- toilet and hot shower. Clear directions and friendly hosts. Beautiful scenery- flowing creek next to the camp site, lovely swimming dam with a kayak and a adventure to the Falls. We are keen to return to do some more exploring!

Camping at Bellbird Lodge was delightful! The map to the site was easy to follow and the campsite was cosy and had easy access to the waterhole. Our favourite feature of this camp, was the waterhole. Perfect for lazying the day away and with the added bonus of seeing the beautiful bright blue kingfishers fly buy.

Thoroughly enjoyed this property with my dogs. Camped on a large flat grassy site with views straight down the hill to the creek. There was a lovely swimming hole at this site plus the main swimming waterhole was very expansive and impressive with small waterfall at the far end as water was flowing nicely. Water in creek was crystal clear over a rock floor, just stunning. The toilet was exceptional and a pleasure to use. The host Paul was extremely helpful, hard working and left a favourable impression. This is definitely a Hipcamp worth experiencing. I’ll be sure to give it a plug on social media when opportunities arise, as they will.

2 nights at Yabba Creek Farm

Just spent a couple of wonderful days at Yabba Creek. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing time. As soon as we drove in we were impressed with how well presented each site is. The grass looked like it belonged on a golf course, and was perfect to set up camp on. It wasn’t long after we had set up camp and the friendly chickens and turkeys came to visit. The kids were even able to pick them up and give them a cuddle. Site 2 has a perfect blend of shade and sunshine which made it easy to keep the batteries charged with solar, while relaxing with a cold one in the shade. I agonised for a while over which site to pick, but you can’t really go wrong at this camp. Each site looked amazing. The free to use kayaks were lots of fun and kept everyone entertained. Excellent mobile coverage also if it’s something you like to have. Our new favourite getaway close to the city. Will definitely be back! Thanks again Dean and Kaylea

My partner and I stayed at Equine camp. The property was beautiful - very well maintained sites and amenities. Jason was very helpful in providing relevant information to the National Park walks given recent weather. We completed the trek to Wrattens Falls which was stunning. The fact you could walk from camp through to the National Park still amazes me. Definitely will be returning. Thankyou Jason & family :)

A Place To Call Home

Unplug and unwind at our 22 acre camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Listen to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River that meandering through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. Stroll through our mini rainforest, paddle in the creek or have a dip in one of the many rock pools. We will even let you build as many rock towers as you like! Throw an inner tube in the creek and float around while the kids laugh and play all day long. During the week it is very quiet and you could have the whole place to yourself. Sites are allocated on weekends based on numbers and if you are camping with children and dogs. We have 10 large grassy sites nestled amongst trees located at the higher pert of our property. Sites are within 100-500m to the closest creek entrance depending on the direction you take. Each site is large and can allow group bookings. Loads of space for tents, camper trailers, caravans or motorhomes. The camping sites are close together however there is loads of areas to set up along the creek during the day. Pets permitted but must be restrained.

Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in. The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type. Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you. This camp is an easy seven minute drive from the Gympie Music Muster site. Get in early to set up camp at your choice of positions on a mostly flat paddock in the crook of huge private valley. 4WD is not totally necessary but may be advantageous in wet weather or to those wanting to get off the beaten track. With creek frontage, shade trees overhead and ranging hills behind, at this camp site you will be sure to catch sight of many birds, wallabies, and other wildlife. Bring your camera! There is a porta loo (and coming soon, a hot shower) on site, we will hire more if bookings are thick but if you are self contained that is awesome! We have a few fire pits and rings available. Exploring the area is a must. You have the creek right here and the forest, nearby are National Parks with marked trails, more creeks to swim in and wildlife to observe. Bunya Farm Produce is open on Saturday mornings for a taste of the best offerings around and Amamoor markets greet the steam train every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday morning. There are many farm-gate suppliers in the region for you try our fresh produce. Kybong has "Hell Town Hotrods" as you imagine, this place is an Alladin's Cave for those into anything vintage, retro, car or petrol.... complete with a workshop for custom hotrod rebuilds. There is a neat cafe and bar on site too. Gympie is close by with the Heritage Museum, featuring the history of gold mining and industries of the area. You can learn how to pan for gold there then come back and practice in the creek. Art enthusiasts should drop in for morning tea at Chai Chai, and see what’s on exhibition at The ART POST then Gympie Region Art Gallery - both venues offer high quality exhibits and sale of artworks by our local artists. Riverdell is 166 acres located on the eastern side of the Blackall Range extending down to the Mooloolah River headwaters. Escape off grid to enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the cattle grazing in the paddocks, spot the native birdlife or cuddle up by the fire in your own secluded paradise. Sunrises are spectacular while sunsets by open campfire are also a highlight of the Riverdell experience. Take a short walk up the creek, west of The Junction carpark above the camp site to see some scenic rockpools and waterfalls in the cool of the rainforest canopy. Walking boots are highly recommended. There is plenty to do and see in the area including exploring nearby Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Gardeners Falls, Kondalilla National Park, Australia Zoo, indulge in a tasting at the Barrel at Clouds Vineyard opposite the front gate, stroll through Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World or take a short drive to some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches. Access during daylight hours via 4WD ONLY with AT or MT off-road Tyres, RT Tyres are not permitted due to the steepness of the tracks. Off-road camper trailers are suitable for some campsites (max weight 1500kg and max length 5m restrictions apply). Caravans are not permitted due to the steep terrain. A Portaloo is located between the Ocean View 1 and 2 sites and a second Portaloo is located centrally and within walking distance to The Knoll, Upper Plateau, Valley View and Little Bunya campsites. There are no facilities at The Junction, and you MUST be self-contained. Riverdell is dog friendly, off leash if trained, and recommend tick treatment before arrival. For safety, no arrivals after dark unless arranged prior.

Deep Creek Camping

Deep Creek Camping is a 4WD only campground situated on a quiet farm stay nestled amongst the trees close to the dam. Approximately 15mins north east of Gympie. The terrain is quite hilly and not suitable for large caravans. The dam is there for swimming in the warmer months. Feel free to bring your kayak or paddle board. We have livestock which roam the lands and a couple of dogs. We offer a pet friendly campstay. Definitely a place for relaxing! We have a firepit available at every site to enjoy during those cooler months, ask us about firewood. There is only one toilet available on the campground. Hopevale Adventure Camping

The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. We have a beautiful large dam, where our Dam campsite is located, that is home to turtles, water dragons and birds. Lungfish can also be viewed while kayaking or snorkelling. Koalas, wallabies, gonnas and an abundance of bird life are also commonly sighted. Dogs are welcome on very strict conditions as we have farm animals including, chickens, horses and a turkey, so must remain secure on a leash at all times. Cedarton is a small farm on 100 acres, we have cows, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep and horses. We have wild deer, wallabies and kangaroos that come in the mornings and afternoons. If the kids like to get involved, I can take them around in the morning to feed the animals, we have around 30 head of cattle, calves, 2 horses, 2 goats, one pet sheep, chickens and ducks. We have a cow called Cutie Pie, she loves a cuddle. Happy to spend time with the kids to show them the jobs we do daily. Parents can join in or sit back and relax. Takes about 1 hour in the morning. If it's school holidays, we build scarecrow's, plant sunflowers or other crops together. Wash rescue horses or any other job on the farm. Kids love collecting the eggs and cooking them up for their breakfast. We also have a pool at the farmhouse which campers can use between 9am - 11.30am daily. If you like hiking there's a couple you can do, one that takes around 30 mins and one that takes 2 hours. Plenty of space to play cricket, football or ride push bikes. If you like fishing there's creeks nearby as well. Each camp site will have wood for fires, if you require more you can buy some on site for $20 a bag. Please don't bring wood in because of biosecurity and fire ants. Cedarton Farm is also on Facebook. We are close to Australia Zoo, Big Kart track at Beerwah, Maleny Dairies, Kondalilla falls, Gardener waterfalls, Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. There's a cheese factory, chocolate factory and wineries in Maleny. Fantastic restaurants in Montville. We are also 10 mins from Woodford Folk Festival. We are off grid only for campers, campervans and caravans we have no amenities at this current time. How ever if you want a porta loo Dinkem Dunnies are great and deliver porta loos. Roughly costs $250 to hire. 4x4 if towing because of dirt driveway and paddocks. Pet friendly however we do ask that no pets chase animals.

My block "Hilltop on Macguire" is just that: located at the top of a hill with views out to the east and west to Kingaroy and the surrounding districts. Ideal for people seeking a country-based escape. Pretty. Peaceful. Private with plenty of shade and space. The region has much to offer, and the block is perfectly located to access being approximately 15minutes from the town of Kingaroy which is a well-developed country town. At the front there is the number 92 which has been marked off close to the entrance to the driveway. The block itself is flat at the top. So, no problems with being able to set up a camping area. The block is currently home to wildlife such as wombats, wallabies, and a multitude of birdlife. Both properties on either side of the property are uninhabited and the neighbours on the opposite side of the road are quiet, respectful and discreet. So, no excess noise is appreciated. The front of the block has been recently cleared, so there is plenty of space for campers to set up and be able to turn their vehicles around to enter and exit. There are no amenities, so the block is only suitable for hicampers who are fully self contained.
