The number of toilet blocks is inadequate for the size of the site, especially in the Gums area. A second block toward the middle or back would make a big difference. The small camp kitchen only has two sinks, which led to regular queues for washing dishes. I camped as near the amenities as I could manage in the gums, which happened to be by the kayak storage area. A staff member from the kayaking team asked if I was staying all weekend. I said yes, and she said she didn’t want to be in my way. I reassured her it wasn’t an issue, as I just wanted to be close to the toilets. But when I returned later, the kayak trailer and her van were parked exactly where I’d been camped. It felt inconsiderate, and a simple heads-up earlier would have helped. If certain areas need to be kept clear, signage would avoid confusion. There was also a bit of confusion with staff about the Gums boundaries. I asked whether a certain spot was part of the area, and was told no, only to find out later from the map that it actually was. I moved there for the following nights, and it was a much better location. Overall, unless you're self-contained, I wouldn't recommend booking in the Gums. The bar staff were friendly, and the live music was great, but better facilities and clearer communication would really improve the experience.
