Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Rd and travel approximately 17km south east. Campers & Day Trippers Rules: The Park is for everyone to enjoy, so please adhere to a few simple guidelines while enjoying this beautiful park. By using this park you agree to the following rules. All vehicles entering the park must observe 10 Km per hour speed limit. Fires must be extinguished prior to departure. Park users must clean up their area when leaving, by taking all rubbish, including food scraps and disposable nappies with them, so the next users can enjoy the Park as well. Do not burn your rubbish. It must be taken with you! The disposal of nappies in the grass around the waterline, and in fire pits, is a serious risk to human health, the health of the creek, surrounding stock and the ecosystem! I moved here from Sydney in 1987. In that time I have seen many changes. I have come to love the Bungawalbin and have formed a very real bond with the whole area and have learnt so much in the journey. Like most parts of the East Coast the land has been badly managed since European invasion in the way of logging, grazing, farming and burning practices that have degraded the diversity of what was once possibly the most diverse part of Australia. The bush is resilient but there is a limit to what it can withstand and I fear this precious wetlands is disappearing fast. 5 years ago bushfires devastated the whole forest leaving very little undamaged and it is still struggling to recover. Then catastrophic flooding in 2022 destroyed the homestead. The property offers spacious, private campsites in a natural and tranquil setting. Bush walking and birdwatching are a must, or just relaxing by the billabong may reward you with a wildlife encounter. Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! We offer a choice of sites- either Lower Sites close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property or Elevated Sites with views of the valley. LOWER SITES have access to facilities- toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. ELEVATED SITES have stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. When submitting a booking request, select either a Lower Site or Elevated Site. Please include your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if requesting an elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather dependant. We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top. Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking. We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Perfect for kayaking, floating on an inflatable lounge or swimming in the warmer months or to simply watch and listen to the rapids. The property boasts 160 acres with camp sites situated on a large flat well maintained grassy paddock, all sites look out to the creek and mountains beyond. Easy access for 2WD and 4WD vehicles with plenty of room to turn around. Campers MUST be fully self-sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities. Porta-loos are available to hire at additional cost for your stay, please message for pricing. Please place all waste in bin provided. Please ensure all waste is bagged. Dog friendly, however ALL dogs must be on a lead at ALL times and picked up after. Campfires are permitted in designated fire pits ONLY, but may be subject to fire bans. Situated a 1/2 hour drive South of Beaudesert, following the signs to Rathdowney and turning onto Christmas Creek Road that veers to the left. 26kms along the very picturesque Christmas Creek Road and you arrive at a little bit of paradise in the Scenic Rim. So much to see and do in the area, a short drive to the Lost World Tourist Drive and Tommerups Dairy to name a few. Further along Christmas Creek Road takes you past the Christmas Creek Cafe and onto Lamington National Park and bushwalks to the Stinson Memorial Crash Site and Larapinta Falls. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. WOW - what a fabulous location! Hosts were super friendly and helpful; sites were huge and immaculately maintained; creek was beautiful - dog and I didn't want to leave! I highly recommend and hope to return when next in that part of AUS! PS when booking, the reference to Left and Right site numbers was a little confusing, but it just means they are next to each other.

Caralyn’s directions to site were great. Site 1R, the whole area along the creek, was beautiful on levelish well maintained grass you could walk barefoot on. 1R had a mixture of shade and sun in the morning. Alongside site is a sterdy deck with table & chairs. There was direct access to creek for a wade/sit on a rock, refreshing on a hot day. A large industrial bin was available. It was a relaxing place to unwind and spot a variety of bird life. Certainly had a restful time and felt safe. Loved the fairy lights on the tree💜

Weekend Trip to Oakey Ridge

Because of our schedule, we had no choice but to arrive around 7 pm, so we had to set up in the dark. It was raining and very windy, so it was quite difficult for us, but Greg helped us with absolutely everything — pitching our tent, putting up our gazebo, and even lending us pegs since it was our first camping trip and we hadn’t brought any. We were so, so grateful and relieved. And even though it was raining and we couldn’t use the fire properly, he still helped us light the firewood beforehand when we told him it was our first time and we weren’t really sure how to do it. That was incredibly kind of him. We couldn’t see the view properly when we arrived at night, but when we woke up in the morning, the scenery was absolutely stunning. It made us want to come back again on a sunny day — this place is truly perfect. Even though our first camping experience was quite challenging, Greg turned it into such a wonderful memory. We’re so thankful to him. We’ll definitely be recommending this place to others. Even the drive here was beautiful, so we truly, truly recommend it.

Beautiful property to stay, even in rainy weather. Well signed and very tidy. Stayed in our van right on the water. Fish were on the bite. Lots of things to do and the beach not too far. Squiggles was the nicest host you'll ever meet. His pet chooks would visit for happy hour and his dogs were super friendly.

Weekend Trip to River Views - Island Paradise

Awesome spot.. Squiggles has thought of everything for all us hip campers to enjoy. We have been to many hip camps over the last 3 years and this has to be one of our favourites. Squiggle s was friendly and welcoming and so were his dogs and chooks. The perfect spot to just kick back and relax and watch the dolphins swim past or get as busy as you like with kayaks and fishing. Thanks for letting us camp on your little spot of paradise.

Weekend Trip to Eagle Ridge Bush Retreat

Location was superb, the Glamping tents location was private and provided a sanctuary away from the rest of world, even more so without reception (Telstra reception may exist in the area, but not really anywhere along the river). Having a stretch of the river to yourself elevates the getaway to a whole new level. We did have a slight hiccup that lead to cold showers on the first rainy night, but Dan and Kristy were straight on to it, even offering to visit the campsite at 10pm to fix it for us. The camp set up is rustic, but works for a quick getaway away from the hustle and bustle.

Unbelievable ...again! Due to some rain, I was moved to the lake front. Was never down there but it is crazy awesome. I got great photos at night with the lake and the fire. If you want a great camping time, go to Oz Sky Ranch. I have already picked my site for the next trip. Will not tell which one so you don't grab it up!!!!
