Eugene, with its outdoor vibes, vibrant local communities, and bustling arts scene, is the epitome of a city that knows how to get outside. But the only way to take advantage of all the natural wonder and adventure-potential in the region is with a camping trip out of the city, and the options for camping near Eugene can't be beat. Head east, where the sprawling Willamette and Umpqua National Forests offer a variety of camping options along the wooded western slope of Oregon's Cascade Range. Rivers, creeks and lakes fill these dense, green forests, so spend the day hiking up to awesome views, and cooling off under the falls. Wander through the lush, prehistoric ferns, or even bring along the boat for prime fishing and watersports. Venture a few miles outside of Eugene in any direction, and you'll find bookable farms, private lands, and retreats where you can get your glamp on, or even rough it out on a working farm, orchard or scenic piece of land. With its vibrant arts scene, multitude of craft breweries, bike-friendly culture, and outdoor life, you might just find yourself sticking around Eugene long after the camping trip ends.
A couple of spots you can set up camp or have several tents set up.

Eugene's nicknames include "Emerald City" and "Track Town, USA," a reference to its vibrant running culture.
We were free to choose any spot we liked to camp and we chose this one for the cool shade under the trees.
One of Wendy's friendly goats leaning in for a neck scratch.
The kitchen inside the trailer had everything we needed and was very clean and tidy. We cooked dinner here and washed our dishes.
Our camp at sunset. It stayed shaded the whole time, which was a blessing because it was an unbearably hot day. Wendy provided the chairs for us to sit and relax.
