In 2008, we built the first cabin on this property. We really enjoyed hosting guests so we built two more cabins on the same property! Our latest addition is a glamping tent! We love people and find joy in the mission of giving weary travelers a comfortable place in nature to relax and rejuvenate. Life gets pretty taxing at times, we know! Spending time in nature with a loved one is the perfect medicine for a stressed soul. We have two listings available: Cozy Cottage by Monongahela Forest and What Camping Should Be! Please read each individual site description for more information on each site and their amenities.

What Camping Should Be! + WOW views
100% (10)
Canvas tent · Sleeps 2
This is what camping should be like! Slumbering in a comfy queen bed (NOT the hard ground). Sleeping in a tent that doesn’t leak! Not having to set up your own tent. Having a private campsite with your own bathroom facilities (who else doesn't like public bathrooms?) The tent is situated among some cedars in a meadow overlooking the North Mountain Range. At night, you'll have an excellent view of the stars. If you like adventure, the outdoors, and new things, this place is for you! The area also offers many opportunities for adventure— hiking, rock climbing, zip-lining, exploring caves, viewing waterfalls, stargazing, and more! It is a 3-minute walk from the parking area to the tent. You MUST READ the check-in instructions very carefully before you come (we will send them 2 days before arrival). Otherwise, you may get lost in the woods. If you are sure to READ AND FOLLOW our instructions, you will find check-in to be quite easy.  Amenities? Queen bed, mini-fridge, electric lights, outhouse, outdoor shower, outdoor propane stove, fire pit, picnic table, all your bedding, towels and washcloths, 6 gallons of nonpotable water (you can walk to the hydrant for more- it’s a 5 min walk), an electric fireplace for heat, and an AMAZING view. We will have instructions for using the shower, using the outhouse (don’t worry, it’s just a few instructions), making a campfire, etc. in the tent. The tent is situated in a meadow overlooking the mountains- You can see Nelson Rocks from the yard. No other dwellings or vacation cabins can be seen from the tent when the leaves are on the trees. We have 3 other cabins in the area, but they cannot be seen from the tent. Local attractions you may want to research before you come: Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, Nelson Rocks, Seneca Caverns, North Fork Mountain Trail, Gaudineer Scenic Area, Blackwater Falls, Elakala Falls, Davis and Thomas, Douglas Falls, Mountain Rail, Dolly Sods, Canaan Valley, etc! We have been getting people outside for 14 years now with our vacation cabins. However, this is our first glamping tent. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you have. That will help us know what we should be adding to our description!

Cabin · Sleeps 2
This cozy cottage is a simple yet fully finished cabin nestled in the woods of Spruce Mountain. It is a perfect launchpad for exploring many nearby hiking trails and awesome views! Crisp early mornings are best spent on the front porch with a steaming cup of coffee. Then head out for the day to explore all the wild and wonderful-- Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, Nelson Rocks, Blackwater Falls, Seneca Caverns, and more! Our guests love coming "home" to a cozy campfire with s'mores, or perhaps grilled steaks and Brussel sprouts on the grill, after an exhilarating day of exploring the mountains. The cabin sleeps 2 guests with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area. The full bath is appointed with fresh linens, hot water, basic soaps, and toilet paper. The kitchenette has all you will need to put together your own meals- a single burner hotplate, microwave, under-counter frig, 4-cup coffee pot, and basic cooking and eating utensils and dishes. However, if you prefer not to cook on your vacation, the Gateway Family Restaurant only three miles from the cabin offers delicious food at reasonable prices. Outdoor amenities include a firepit, a park-style charcoal grill, a picnic table, and a front porch! Nearby... a Forest Service Road runs past this cabin. We also have two other cabins that can be seen through the trees.  Keep in mind that phone service is limited to nonexistent here-- you can completely get away from everything, unwind, and rejuvenate in nature!! However, you will have WiFi at the cabin. If you come in winter months, we recommend bringing AWD/4WD.
