Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others. Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience. In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house! We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you! Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. "What an incredible spot. The land is well cared for and the views are to die for." - Zack You'll have to agree. The mountain views here can captivate for hours. Not only that, opportunity for adventure is just out your back door! Go hiking or rock climbing at Seneca Rocks and ziplining at Nrocks. Chase waterfalls in Davis and head to Spruce Knob (the highest point in the state) for the sunset. Speaking of adventures, we have 2 foldable kayaks that are available for you to use. They will fit inside almost any vehicle! Let us know if you want to try them out! We will gladly let you use them and show you exactly how to fold and unfold them. At the tiny house itself, relax by a campfire or in the hot tub-- and watch the stars. The space has a queen bed, full bathroom, and kitchenette. The kitchenette has a microwave, mini fridge, single-burner hot plate, and Keurig. As of 2023, the tiny house has electricity, running water, and a hot tub! You may notice that a few of the photos were taken before these changes were made. Keep in mind that you will have a 3-minute walk from the parking area up a little hill to the tiny house. The main things you need to pack are food and clothes suited for a variety of weather conditions (you're in the mountains!). Towels, bedding, coffee, camp chairs, and a few basic dishes/cooking utensils/skillet are provided. Paperware is recommended since there's not a great space for washing dishes. If you're planning to cook a lot, you may want to bring a pot or skillet. There is no phone service here, so plan accordingly. You will have access to WiFi down by our house (where you will park) but not at the tiny house yet. (: "This area of West Virginia is gorgeous, so beautiful it was hard to keep my eyes on the road." -Holly The tiny house is situated by itself next to the neighbor's field. You may see him making hay, and he often has cows in there for part of the year. Our dwelling is on the other side-- a two-minute walk away (see photo 31 for perspective). There is a guest space in our lower level so you may see those folks around. We are also building a glamping dome below the tiny house, but it will be partially hidden by the cedar trees you see in photos of the view. Your space at the tiny house is your own and we ask the other guests to stay out of the yard and give you privacy.

Looking for a launching pad for WV adventures? A home base with modern comforts, AND a taste of camping? This Charming Glamping Cabin is for you! The unique structure sits among the trees on property bordering the Monongahela National Forest. Endless opportunities for exploring nature are all around, but after a day of hiking, rock climbing, caving, fishing, etc., you can come back to a comfortable cabin completely stocked with basic amenities to ensure a "glamorous" camping experience. This is a one-room cabin. Enjoy a good night's rest in the queen bed with a quality mattress, a fluffy duvet, and plenty of pillows. The kitchenette is stocked with basic cooking and eating utensils and dishes, linens, single-burner hotplate, under-counter frig (like a motel would have), microwave, coffee pot, and complimentary coffee, creamer, and sugar. If you do not want to cook during your vacation, the Gateway Family Restaurant is just 3 miles down the road and they serve delicious home cooking at reasonable prices, either eat-in or carryout (at least grab a piece of pie on your way past!). You can also get WiFi there if you need it during your stay. However, WiFi is also available at the cabin. The private bathroom is complete with a toilet, sink, and shower. Bed and bath linens are provided. In the morning, enjoy a cup of coffee while sitting on the porch taking in the peaceful, cheery sounds of nature. For a taste of camping, have a fire in the firepit, grill some burgers on the park-style grill, and sit outside at the picnic table to enjoy your meal. The campfire will feel toasty during the cool evenings here in the mountains. (: We have two other cabins in the same area: one is within shouting distance and the other is farther away: up the hill and through the trees. Each cabin has its own private accommodations. Spruce Knob (highest point in the state), Seneca Rocks, Nelson Rocks, Spruce Knob Lake, and Seneca Caverns are close-by, popular tourist destinations. Also within reasonable driving distance: Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls, Davis and Thomas (neat old towns that are being restored for tourists), tourist trains, skiing, chairlifts, tubing, and more! Hiking and rock climbing are popular around here, and with the immense national forest close by, nature viewing and hiking are endless! Note: if you come in the winter, it would be good to bring an AWD if snow is in the forecast.
