Spearmint Patch Campsite
The host was super helpful and kind. The location was perfect and impossible to beat in Seneca Rocks! The Spearmint Patch site was nice by the stream, but it didn’t have a very large cleared grass patch, so we were walking around brush a bit. The price was very steep for the size of site, but we did enjoy our stay!

Spearmint Patch Campsite
We loved this campsite! We took our rooftop tent. It was quiet, private, and so peaceful. You’d see the occasional car go by, but overall it felt really secluded. The location was perfect. right near Seneca Rocks and within walking distance of the trail. The site itself was beautiful and such a great spot for a relaxing camping weekend. We would definitely stay here again!
This place is genuinely rare! You drive through the official Seneca Rocks lot, over the little bridge, and camp behind the rocks. Hikers look at you like you took a wrong turn. The views are incredible. Worth it just for that.
The deck is the highlight - big, quiet, pointed at Seneca Rocks & the valley. Perfect spot. Solo Stove is great, firewood already crated, and the short walk up the hill to the swing is worth it! No service; Wade let us use Starlink and it worked.
Wade is kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, & easy to deal with. Humble that it’s still early days. He has a very good dog!
Not enough flat tent space (yet) for a bigger group with many tents. The main gravel pad doesn't have tent sites. The tucked-away spot down the driveway has 2-3 good flat spots - we were 8 people and squeezed 4 of our 6 tents, all right up against each other. Still rocky and uneven. Has its own fire pit and creek access (rope bridge he’s building is awesome). Wade also showed us two flatter spots right behind the house. The deck is also kind of in the front yard, so privacy is overall mixed. It is still very remote and Wade is a great quiet neighbor! You’re paying for location, view, and deck more than a finished campground. Worth it for us but maybe not everyone until it's all built out. Outhouse wasn’t done yet. Fine if you’re okay using the woods. We had the best time (both storm & shine)!! Unique stay, great host, ridiculous views. Best for a camper/RV or smaller group. We’ll be back!!!

Quiet spot set away from road, the fire ring had clearly just been moved and the old spot was left just a big pile of ash. Picnic table was a but tricky to use stove on because it doesn't have many flat spots. Nice secluded area overall, would camp here again. Nice experience 4/5 stars

Spearmint Patch Campsite
The campsite is a great location and very secluded! The view of the stars was wonderful. You can walk about a 1/2 mile down the road to a trailhead for the Seneca Rocks Trail! If youre looking to visit Dollys Sods Wilderness at all, those trailheads are all 40-45 minutes from the site. There is no cell service which i personally loved it was great to disconnect. You can drive down the road to Yokums or Hadleys for free wifi if you need to load maps!
The campsite itself smells the Spearmint because of the spearmint plants which was so cool. It is right off the road and there was a little more traffic than I’d hope for. A couple cons of the site, the tent area was too overgrown for us to put our tent there so we had to put it on the gravel patch. The fireplace area was also overgrown so we couldn’t sit around the fire which was pretty disappointing, especially for the price of this site being about triple than what you’ll pay at a campground. Due to all the over grown areas, the bugs are BAD here. Obviously i always expect bugs camping, but there were a ton at this site even with loads of bug spray on. There were a lot of butterflies which was so pretty though!!!
Overall, it’s a nice spot but very overpriced for what you’re getting and you could find better options at state campgrounds and pay a lot less. We chose to pay this because we really wanted to be secluded and not have neighbors, but seeing other campgrounds in the area, i think we could still have gotten that.

No service is no joke. Also I. Case of weather bring a tarp.
Also don't forget your own harness and 2 personal anchors for clipping in to the tree
We camped in a truck bed tent at the Spearmint Patch site and it was just what we were looking for. Nice firepit, picnic table, gravel parking pad, and a small creek running nearby. The whole site also smelled pleasant due to all the spearmint growing everywhere. There was no light pollution whatsoever, so the stars were excellent. We heard a couple different species of owls at night, which was cool as a person from the suburbs. Only caveat is that Roy Gap Road leading up to the property is pretty rough, so a high clearance vehicle would be ideal. Would recommend for camping just minutes from Seneca Rocks.
Lovely campsite in a great location with prompt access to Seneca Rocks parking lot/entrance. There is also a public bathroom at that entrance. Probably would not have been able to find the campsite if we arrived at night. It's tucked away, and you have to cross a little stream to enter the site. Great placement though - very short walk to the car. The grass is high and seemed like it hadn't been camped on in a while - beware of ticks! OH- and did I mention the fireflies?? Visit mid-june, it's a dream :)
This was my first Hipcamp experience. I do recommend booking in advance in an area where you still have service. After you book, you will have to sign some forms and email Wade your car description, etc. I made the mistake of not completing these steps while we still had service, but it all worked out. With Verizon, the service is extremely limited across Monongalia National Forest, but there is a souvenir/convenience shop right down the road (free wifi). Thanks Wade!
If you want privacy, this is the place. What a beautiful location in the mountains of Seneca Rocks. No amenities provided, but if you want a rustic and remote experience, this is it. Loved my night here. Five stars!

Moonshine Treenet
OMG THE TREE NET! I’d had this on my WV bucket list for years, and holy cow, did it exceed (my extremely high!) expectations!
The site is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it’s hard to describe how… cozy it felt, to be completely supported up in the tree. The “sunset deck” as we dubbed it, gives unparalleled views of Seneca rocks, and watching climbers top out at sunset and then following their headlamps as they down climbed… so cool.
I did admittedly not read the listing that closely (my own fault) and was a little surprised we had to “hike” to the tree- it’s maybe a 5-8 min walk straight uphill from the parking lot so be prepared for that, but 100000/10 worth the very small effort to experience this incredible piece of art.
Had a wonderful experience at the Creekside Hollow Campsite! Everything was as advertised, the fire pit was bigger than we thought (no complaints!), plus what looked like a new picnic table that had not been listed in the description yet. The area was very peaceful, quiet, and even though there was one other campsite in use nearby it still felt very private. Lots of overgrown grass, so best to come prepared with gear/clothes treated with tick spray.
We loved our stay at Fourth Moon, Spearmint Patch campsite. Private, gorgeous location, tucked behind the mountain next to a babbling brook. Everything we wanted to check out was easily accessible, and in walking distance. Yokum’s breakfast and coffee hit the spot, while the beauty of Seneca Rocks is an awesome sight to behold. Wade is a friendly, gracious host and greeted us upon arrival with details and history about the surrounding the area. Don’t forget to brew yourself a cup of spearmint tea before you leave. So good, we’ll be back. 10/10!

The site is beautiful and I appreciated the host providing firewood to start.
I saw Seneca Rocks from the fourth moon with Wade. I appreciate his knowledge that led me to the rocks, and his help to know the area. I look forward to find his google pin point at Seneca Falls.
It was an incredible location situated between the fingers of the mountains surrounding it.

The most perfect location! Down in the holler surrounded by mountains. Had a big fire with snowfall. Can’t wait to go back!
We loved camping on Wade’s Spearmint Patch! There was so much to explore in the surrounding area and we truly felt at peace. We didn’t know how much we needed the chance to completely disconnect and slow down. Seneca Rocks was incredible and we hope to be back!
Really enjoyed the the camp! Its nice and quiet back behind the rocks and not far from the main trail head to the top of seneca rocks or the stores in town. Would definitely love to come back sometime. Wade was there to meet and greet us with the firewood already stacked and ready to go. Greatly appreciated his kindness and hospitality.

Creekside Hollow Campsite
Fourth Moon Camp was perfect. Nice and secluded but only a few minutes drive to a couple historic general stores with restaurants and everything you'd need. The Camp is literally right behind Seneca Rocks on a private property with amazing views. Wade was kind enough to stock us up with more than enough firewood and was super helpful prior to and during our arrival. We are already making plans to return!
Spearmint Patch was a great little spot! We stayed during the fall and the foliage was beautiful. Our pups had an awesome time being able to be off leash. But hands down, you can’t beat the proximity of this campsite from the Seneca Rocks trails. Would definitely recommend to others interested in hitting the trail during their stay. The road did have more traffic than expected, but it seems like that was just the timing due to a project being done further up the roadway.
We had a great weekend at the Creekside Hollow site- a long and rolling space with plenty of room for 4 tents to spread out and have private spaces- could easily have accommodated a couple more tents. Wade was great, very communicative and proactive. I’d advise to get all your ducks in a row before getting to the site as cell service cuts out outside of town. I will definitely be back!

Moonshine Treenet
The Moonshine Treenet was truly spectacular! Wade was an excellent host, giving us a thorough tour and helping us find the right spot to park, as well as helping us find a water pump at nearby Yokum's. The Treenet is really magical, it has several different layers with different places to sit, lay out, swing, or climb around and lots of great views of Seneca Rocks. We slept up at the very top which was a truly unforgettable experience!

Spearmint Patch Campsite
Nice private campsite on a beautiful piece of land. We enjoyed our 2 night stay in our truck camper. Wasnt able to get out camper perfectly level at the site but got it close enough
We loved tent camping at Fourth Moon Camp. Fantastic experience from start to finish. All instructions/ directions were super clear & Wade was soo hospitable. The land itself & surrounding areas are just so beautiful. We camped here so we could hike at Dolly Sods & it was an easy drive over there. Great location.
What a wonderfully peaceful place. Aside from a few cars passing by the otherwise quiet road, I felt wonderfully solitary at the campsite. I loved that hikes through Seneca Rocks were easy to get to, just a short walk down the road, and they were absolutely gorgeous. There is no wifi/cell service, so if you need connection you'll need to stop by the diner/convenience store in town where there's free wifi in the parking lot. But do stop in and maybe take a seat on the porch! I met some of the loveliest fellow travelers and locals and got some tasty jam, too!
Great campsite close to Seneca Rocks. Easy to get to. I’d recommend staying there.
