If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Rave reviews from me each time I stay here. Rain or shine, hot or cold (and I’ve been through all these phases here), doesn’t matter. As long as Scott and Margaret own Rusty Ranch it’ll be at the top of my Hipcamp destinations. I’ve left other reviews, so check ‘em out for more reasons to spend a few days here.
This was our fifth HipCamp, and I'm happy to say Rusty Ranch is favorite so far. This is a really really big area, with lots of room to stretch your legs (you and your dog). The gravel drive leading in, complete with wide turnaround and RV parking, is better than most state parks. Everything is very clean, and the owners have clearly done a lot of work to build and maintain everything. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.
Back for second time, planning next
This site, and the whole setup at Rusty Ranch, is just as I described it my first time here…outstanding! Only this time it wasn’t 106 F. I again used the site as my base camp for fly fishing the lakes nearby (caught a lot of trout) and once done for the day on the water, came back and sat by the fire watching the stars above. I’ve been to a dozen camp sites around Washington state over the last 3 months. This is the only one I’ve returned to. For good reason. Margaret and Scott are excellent hosts.
Scott and Margaret have a great thing going on here. My site was right where the meadow meets the forest, with the classic barn across the field. The pull-up site for my teardrop trailer was perfect. Immaculate outhouse. Nice grass areas off the well maintained gravel road. Top notch fire pits with free wood enough for your first night. I camped there to fly fish a nearby lake, so I didn’t get around to hiking their trails - I’ll do that next time I stay….and there will be a next time.
