Near North Cascades National Park
Within a 30-minute drive from the North Cascades National Park Complex Headquarters and Visitor Information.
We have 26 acres of beautiful woods and wetlands in the foothills of the North Cascades. The Samish River runs through the property, narrowing into a deeper channel from the broad protected marshes to the north which provide excellent bird-watching vistas. We are located 30 min Southeast of Bellingham and one hour away from the fantastic Mt Baker ski area. Our yurt is brand new, with no power but with good cell reception. Our newly built bathroom has hot water and electricity where you can charge your devices No petsThe 20 foot yurt is located on our beautiful, 26 acre property and developing farm, that we are pleased to share with like-minded people. We are in the beautiful South Fork River Valley, on the banks of the Samish, which is a salmon spawning river and attracts abundant bird life. We are a short walk from a stretch of the Pacific Northwest Trail, gently ascending logging roads on the western slopes of Lyman Hill. More than 12 acres of the property are dedicated as a preserve to foster the good health of the waters and wilderness we make our home in. We hope guests will appreciate the invitation to bask in the richness of this wetland terrain and the diversity of plant and animal life that spring from it and are drawn to it. Around the main house, we are developing orchards and gardens, using Organic and Biodynamic methodologies. We have chickens and goats and a Livestock Guardian Dog to protect them. This is not for everyone, as there is no power to the yurt, our beautiful wooden bathroom has a composting toilet and we do not allow any pets, as our large dog needs to be able to roam the property to do his job of keeping coyotes and other predators at bay. The quiet, south end of Lake Whatcom, is a 10 minute drive away, on the way to lovely Bellingham and the coast 30 minutes to the West, and the splendors of Mount Baker are an hour's drive to the East. Mount Vernon, with its flower farms, the Skagit River and excellent natural foods co-op are 30 minutes to the South.

Flicker's Nest
Very cute yurt, and great hosts
I definitely recommend staying at Erick & Sarah's yurt. It is an incredibly inviting and cozy place that is well-decorated for a relaxing getaway. It isn't super big so it doesn't take much to keep it warm and it is set up well to be comfortable for making food, having an evening in, and sleeping. Don't expect a massive cabin where you are going to have lots of guests over, that's not what it's designed for. But for 1-4 people it's great. Its location is also fantastic because not only is Erick & Sarah's property massive, and has a cute river flowing through it, but the Acme area is gorgeous. You are about a one-hour drive from Mt. Baker, 5 min drive from a pretty sunset view of the mountains, 40 min from town, and just a walk away from lots of woodlands. Finally, the hosts are phenomenal. Erick and Sarah and both very nice people who explained how everything worked and checked in with us to make sure our stay went well. They were extremely helpful in providing ideas for hikes in the area as well as just fun people to chat with. Ps: I will say, if you are unaccustomed to the outdoors do keep in mind that Acme, and this yurt, are definitely more rural than a city (which I love). With thin walls, like in all yurts, you do hear animals outside like deer, raccoon, and their big friendly dog. I feel it personally makes me feel more connected to nature, but if hearing animals around you isn't your vibe this is something to consider.
