Camping at Mt Rainier Reconnect

The road the property is located on is commonly known as skate creek rd. It leads to the town of Packwood. It is a destination for both bicyclists and motorcycle riders. Unbelievable views twisty windy sections and some in maintained sections to keep you on your toes. I ride. Great place to be on two wheels.

Big Creek and skate creek have brook trout and are a short drive from the property. Alder lake has trout and Kokanee and is less than twenty minutes away.

Some of the most beautiful hiking destinations our state has to offer have their trailheads less than twenty five minutes from the property. High Rock lookout,Bertha and Granite lake trailheads are all premier hiking destinations.

There is a a local horse rental property just 15 minutes away in the tiny little town of Elbe. As well as the “Pack forest” which is a destination for horseback riding.

Elbe hills off-road area a designated off highway vehicle park that has some extremely challenging trails,rock climbs and mud pits. It is a very popular spot for off-roadies from all over the state. The forest service roads inside Gifford Pinchot national forest roads are also open to off-road vehicles and offer the opportunity to see some amazing views of the entire Mountain.

The snow park on Osborne mountain is literally in sight and easily reached during heavy snows as the state maintains the access to the snow park.

On this property we have elk (the whole herd at times) deer,bear,cougar,bobcat,king fishers on occasion and a very rare visit by of all things a badger?? And then there are the birds. Eagles,barred owls,great horned owls,stellar jays,Canadian geese,tanagers,even a blue nosed gross beak that seems to show back up every year alone?? Bird watchers paradise out here.

This property is located inside the Gifford Pinchot national forest. Just a short hike across the main road to the massive protected stands of of Douglas fir. That area also provides plenty of edible fungus. Chantrelles morels oysters lobsters lions main coral. You name it you can probably find it out here. If you are a fungus nut we have agarikon growing on the property.

You are quite literally “in the mountains” on this property. All sides you are surrounded by mountains. My Beljica, Mt Wow Mt Osborne and of course Mt Rainier are dominant in the views where ever you are on the property.

We mow and maintain approximately five acres. The green grass invites you to sit,lay down and just let the world around you become the soundtrack. It’s actually pretty awesome to lay there just listening to nature. What is more amazing is the fact you did not pay attention to it or notice it beforehand.

Ok I hate to do this but don’t think of Shreck. We have a swamp. It’s probably my favorite feature of the whole property. Skunk cabbage, moss, mud, rotten stumps. What’s not to like? It’s like Jurassic park in there. Totally awesome donkey! If you know the movie shreck that made sense. If you don’t? I’m a lunatic who loves his swamp.
