Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. Our property is located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive. It is a 15 minute walk to Taylor United's Seafood Bar that has beer and wine. You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. Again , this campsite is Tide dependent. The first question to me should be, What is the latest we can hike in? I am not Moses, I can’t part the sea. Camp closed during winter October/ march

There's always something going on at the homestead, including garden and orchard work, trail building, wood cutting, construction, sawmilling, and more. Saltgrass's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking at Anacortes Washington Park or Kukutali Preserve State Park crabbing, fishing, birding, bicycling and, the beach, my kids actually found a bottle with a message inside years ago. Alternatively, you could explore the many little shops in the towns of La Conner and Anacortes. There are multiple activities available, I would suggest calling ahead in order to book kayaking, rock climbing, whale watching, or a sailing charter. You could easily take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a ferry ride out of Anacortes, walk on or book ahead if you are taking your car. Also, the Swinomish Casino and golf course are within two miles. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, we also have two cats and several chickens. On the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Sean, Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with warm drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire.❤️ County Noise Statement: We love living in rural Whatcom County and we know land owners in our area love it too. In fact, their enthusiasm for the great outdoors is so high that sometimes they can generate sounds that will travel throughout the day. These are likely sounds you are not accustomed to hearing in a traditional neighborhood. The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). There is a “en suite kitchen in the cottage that has a small fridge, microwave, and two burner stovetop cooking unit. The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --are all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin. The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. our vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Even with all the little enclave of buildings, The Purple Cottage retains a private feel all to itself, with reliable Wi-Fi available at the cottage. . It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. The private deck off the side of the Purple Cottage offers views of the gardens & flora, and has a little gas barbecue. There is also a delightful hot tub on the deck, which is a wonderful feature. An outdoor kitchen on the edge of the woods allows a roomier “camp cooking” experience with Colman stove & cold running water (season permitting). We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town! Our campground cabins are about 4.9 miles from the 'Granite Falls Fish Ladder'. Visit this beauty at Mountain Loop Highway if you fancy a little hike. Drive around 7 miles to the 'Lime Kiln Trailhead. The trail is full of amazing views and history. Our place is only about 45 minutes from Seattle. The Valhalla Tree farm is amazing. We came back and will continue to visit again to create memories here. The place is beautiful, private, quiet and clean. Dave is an excellent host, communicates well, directions are easy. Simply and straight forward expectations. If you are on the fence go for it, you will not be disappointed!

The A Frame cabin at Valhalla Tree Farm is terrific! The area is so fun and the cabin is the right mix of rustic and amenities to make a comfortable stay. Dave is an amazing host and the views are incredible! I definitely recommend anyone who wants to find some a cabin stay to check it out.

We had a great stay in the cabin. Very secluded. Cool trails. Cabin is a little rustic just fyi for those people who aren't into that kind of thing. We loved it, though. Great firepit area, outhouse was fine, and there were plenty of spots to pitch tents as well. Dave was very helpful and the property was only a few miles from any amenities you may need.

Weekend Trip to Wild Hearts on Whidbey

Very fun getaway spot within easy driving distance of Langley and other Whidbey attractions. The Glasshouse was cute and the bed was cozy. It was fun listening to the chickens and horses through the windows. The kitchen had most of the basics we needed (plates, cutlery, cast iron pan) but bring your own coffee mugs if you plan on hot beverages.

Weekend Trip to The Chuckanut Rock

I loved this unique spot. It felt so isolated, especially once the tide came in. Having a big seafood lunch at Taylor’s Saturday hit the spot. Tony was very helpful, and dropped off some supplies via boat to take care of a wasp nest (they were docile but it was right on the main walking path) .

This place is magical, and Reg’s love for it is palpable. Upon arrival, I was encouraged to take a dip in the creek and introduce myself to the trees. To my pleasure, I did both and recommend you do, too. Whether or not exploring the many features of the land is your thing, the place was cozy and private, only steps from the bathroom. The kitchen has more than expected to help you prepare a meal, a stove, a microwave, dishes, pots and pans, seasonings, etc. It was very nice to be offline and reset the brain waves. 100% will return.

The coolest cabins on the coolest land owned by the coolest guy. 10/10 anyone reading this must stay here. Reg has it all- super lovely comfortable cabins with incredible views. A WONDERFUL volcanic creek on the property within minutes. A cute kitchen a cute bathroom SHEEP. Two nights wasn’t enough and I shall be back

Great place to set up camp with a couple pups. Dave and Shannon are awesome! Super private even when folks are staying in other sites on the property. Running water, a propane stove, and solar electricity open up the kitchen possibilities for a perfect summer weekend.

Perfect location, perfect view, perfect comfort. Close to Anacortes and La Conner, loved watching the tide come on and out, and slept great! Oh, and Turner ❤️❤️ Excellent spot for our annual mother/daughter’s getaway! Thank you!

Larrabee Campground

There is an active train track right near the campground. The train runs about 15 times a day and also throughout the night. Be prepared for the loud train whistles. I recommend bringing ear plugs in case you are a light sleeper.
