The camping area plus cabin are in a 40 acre forested property. A good gravel road takes you about 800 feet across a bridge over Maple Creek to a clearing of about 2 acres. You will see the tiny house on your right, with its woodshed, and an accessory building (The Tool Shed) off to the left, where the composting toilet is located, along with a place to hang your sun shower (provided). There's a canopy sheltering a picnic table which may be used for cooking and eating, and washing dishes. The open meadow has room for two or three tent sites. Just upstream from the bridge is a beaver pond, the beavers often busy though seldom seen. There is a trail to the pond, which is a good place to view bird life and hear frogs sing. The vegetation includes many large Sitka Spruce, Red Cedar, and Bigleaf Maple trees with their common understory plants, which now include trilliums, bleeding heart, and the less-loved stinging nettles. Two miles north from my place, on Silver Lake Road, is Silver Lake Park, a lovely large County park that offers swimming, fishing, trails, and small boat rentals. Two miles to the south is the community of Maple Falls, with its own trail network as well as shopping for groceries, hardware, treats for your pet, local art, and as of this writing, a food truck. Maple Falls is the second to the last town heading east on Mount Baker Highway, which ends at Artist Point in the heart of the mountains. Many hiking trails are to be found in the area along the highway. Maple Falls Visitor Center is a good place to get info on the endless attractions available.

Sheltering Cedar tent site

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 22 ft
This is a site nearest to the bathroom. I chose it for the large cedar tree , and I cleared underneath it to allow room for a smallish tent in a space with a large cedar tree as one wall of the “room.” Alternatively, you may pitch your tent or park your rig on the edge of the meadow next to the sign number 1.

The Tiny House Cabin

Tiny home · Sleeps 3 · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 toilet
This is a tiny house that can accommodate 2 or 3 people. There is a sleeping loft with queen size mattress and a settee below. Most comfortable if the third person is small, as a child! It IS a tiny house, and kids love that. There's a 3-burner propane cooktop, a little bathroom with composting toilet and a shower stall in which to use a sun-shower. (the water can be heated if the sun isn't hot enough). There's a tiny drop-leaf table, closets and drawers to stow your things, a stained glass window and a tiny wood-burning stove for warmth. There's no electricity or running water, but several portable solar lights can be used when it's dark. Potable water is available in 5 gallon containers on site, and those can be refilled at the beginning of the driveway near the open gate. This tiny house is best for two people who sleep together in the loft. A third person, a child, for instance, can sleep in the settee below In addition to the sleeping loft, there is a storage loft. The same ladder can access either one. A front porch is nice to sit on in the afternoon sun. 2 miles to the north is Silver Lake Park, a county park with a large lake where you can swim, hike, and rent small boats and paddle boards. 2 miles to the south is the village of Maple Falls, for groceries, local crafts, and information about hiking and exploring the Mt. Baker area.
