Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington, it is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

This is an adorable log cabin on an acre of land surrounded by fir trees. (Some of the pictures in prior reviews are from when I was renting out the smaller cabin- this listing is now for the larger cabin!) 🤗
You feel like you’re waking up in a state park, but you’re just ten minutes from town. Mt Adams and many hiking trails are nearby. If you are a rafter or a kiter, we are very close to the river as well!
It will sleep 4 comfortably- please contact me about extra guests. There is a trundle bed with twin mattresses, and a Queen bed. Both have fitted sheets only. Please bring everything else you may need to be comfortable.
The cabin is off grid so charge your electronics beforehand and bring a cooler!
It’s a great place for a reset : ) Get your feet on the ground and wake up with the birds chirping.
NOTE: You have to pack trash in and out. Leave no trace. I do not have trash pick up at the cabin and anything left has the potential to lure wildlife in. Thank you for your understanding!

Come stay in my cozy cool cabin at the base of Mt Adams in Trout Lake, WA. Cabin has one Queen bed and a fold out camping style cot under the bed. Max capacity 2 adults and 2 children.
What makes this cabin cool? Well, it is a retired DNR fire watch cabin! The cabin is as original as can be! Equipped with battery operated and solar lights along with propane heat! Porta potty right next to it for your use! There is a full bathroom and amenities to include fridge, microwave, coffee pot and air fryer just a short walk away! Dishes are not included and cooking utensils are very limited.
Winter sports galore up here right now! Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ample parking for snow mobile trailers! OR bring your favorite book and come enjoy a peaceful restful weekend!
Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! It is apx 30 minutes away.
In the summertime come up and enjoy the hiking! Sleeping Beauty trail is just a few minutes away and you are within 30 minutes or Hood River if you are looking to explore and check out wineries. There are cheese caves, ice caves, Goose Lake, Council Lake and so much more!
Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Hood River fishery has been amazing and the fall colors can't be beat!
There is a fire pit and campfires are welcome when there is not a burn ban.
Trout Lake Inn is a local favorite up here and check their Facebook to see what live entertainment they have coming up.
Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area.

Parking is ample within steps of each of the cabins and is more than big enough to fit snowmobile trailers, horse trailers, RVs, or any other toys you may want to bring along for your trip.
Trout Lake Cozy Cabins was formerly known as Serenity's, named after the restaurant that sat on the property. The Restaurant burned down a number of years ago. Since the restaurant building was rebuilt, we have been excited to have Mt. Adams Pizza on our property for the last 4 years. There are also a number of places to eat within a mile of the cabins including Mount Adams Pizza, the Trout Lake Hall, Post Office Coffee, and the Station Cafe.
The Mount Adams Ranger District is a great resource for additional information about the area and recreational activities. Of course, having grown up in the area, we are always happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with a "local's" tip/suggestions. Don't be shy, we are very friendly people and will go out of our way to make sure you have a memorable stay with us!

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth
The cabin was peaceful and private, and we felt truly secluded and unplugged from the digital world. Our reasons for going or to get isolated from technology and the Internet and this cabin was the perfect place to do that. Brian was a warm welcoming host and their book of recommendations for nearby hikes and food were top-notch. Gnat Creek was a beautiful hike.

The cabin was incredibly cozy. Even though it was below freezing outside for most of our trip the heater and blankets kept us super warm inside. Waking up to the cows and the mountains always felt amazing, and at night if the sky was clear so many stars were visible.

If being off grid isnt your cup of tea then this cabin probably isnt for you but we love it. One of our favoright things about staying here is that there is very little to no cell service and wifi only if you want to hook up to it. We love being off grid and having quality family time to interact with eachother with out the distractions of cell phones or tv. No power no problem for us! This is our favoright family get away spot by far.

The forest view cabin was cozy. We went in winter so bring some extra blankets and you’ll be set. We loved the trails around the property and the goats were so cute. Tyla gave us great recommendations for local restaurants that were delicious and the little cafe in the house was a great added bonus. We also did the sauna and it was amazing.

1 night at Horse Lovers Paradise
11/10 stars HIGHLY recommend!! This last minute stop for me absolutely turned my little get away into exactly what I needed. Beautiful property, kind and friendly hosts, clean and cozy accommodations and so many fun loving animals to bring out your happy 🤭 🥰. I will be going back for sure!

4 nights at HolisticLifeFarm Clatskanie OR
The little A-frame structure was perfect for my needs and stood up well to some pretty blustery weather on my first day. It takes a minute to locate the structure if you arrive in the dark and rain, as I did, but once I was oriented, all was well. Definitely recommend this instead of a tent if you're coming at a time of year when the weather is a bit unpredictable.

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth

Great Visitors center! Going back for hiking!
I stopped at the visitor center while driving back to Seattle. I have passed it a million times and this was the first time stopping. Just 10min off the highway. Will definitely be planning a trip to do some hiking north of Mt. St. Helens now!

Bee Inspired?? Yes!!
We had a wonderful stay at Bee Inspired Gardens! We were in Site #3, which easily accommodated our large 39’ fifth-wheel with plenty of space to pull in and set up comfortably. The site included water and electric, which made our stay even more convenient.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful—clearly a labor of love and care. Kay gave us a personal tour of both the gardens and the apiary, and shared her knowledge about creating pollinator habitats. It was both educational and inspiring!
A picnic table was provided at the site, and we were delighted to find a vase of fresh flowers waiting for us—a thoughtful and welcoming touch. Communication with Kay was excellent from start to finish.
Highly recommend Bee Inspired Gardens for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic, and educational stop!

Loved our visit to MSH! The views all along the drive were amazing. We played in Coldwater Lake and visited the Science Center-breathtaking views. We enjoyed 2 hikes. Loved the vegetation. Wish we had more time and better understood the different entry points and trails to know how to best utilize our time.

If you're in the area, you HAVE to visit! It's so pretty and underrated mountains. It has tons of history, display and learnings! We truly enjoyed the visit. Stop by Coldwater Lake if you have time, it's worth it!

Johnstone Ridge visitor center at the end of the road was still closed, but Coldwater Lake visitor center just reopened, and offered a great view of the mountain.

Although the center was closed for renovations, the walking path and bathrooms were open for use. We ventured up the mountain to the many viewpoints and forestry learning center and ended at Coldwater Lake due to road closure. It was a great trip and highly recommended.

South Slope Glacier Mt. Adams
Gorgeous hike! Went to Mt. Adams South Slope glacier. Had to snowshoe 2 miles to the site due to road conditions and lots of still still inaccessible by car in March.
