Cook a steak on the grill, make dinner in the fun cook shack and sit around and watch evening come. John Day Fossil Beds are close by. Hike Blue Basin, swim in the river or dig for fossils! We are out of range for most cell service, but it's close by. Wifi available at host house if needed! And pets are welcome!
The space
You have the space all to yourselves...it's quiet and peaceful and not visible from the road or from our house. We respect your privacy and are also here to answer question and make your stay perfect! The shower house is just steps from the cabin. The cook shack has just about everything you'll need to prepare meals. The cabana has foos ball and the Bear Hug sleeps another two people! TV is for movies only! Warm and cozy in the cool months and air conditioned when you need it!

When you rent Stellar Cabin, you have access to the whole private "camp" which includes the shower house, the cook shack, the patios and decks, and even the Bear Hug if you have four people. It's a little cabin that is rented through the resolution center once you have signed up for Stellar!

1 night at Karibu Cabin
Nathan’s hunting cabin is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for a super secluded, extremely private, unplugged getaway. Nestled in the trees, on the most beautiful land, it’s just you and nature and all the stars you could ever hope for. The views are spectacular and the vibes are tranquil and serene. Nathan was easy to communicate with when our gps took us on a wrong turn and extremely helpful with getting us back on the right track. The cabin has propane lanterns for lighting but I suggest bringing some safe-burning candles and enjoying a romantic night in nature. We will definitely be back!

Our 3 generation family really enjoyed ourselves at this cozy cabin in Eastern Oregon. Our passenger van made it through no problem on the dirt road in along with our travel trailer. The cabin was so homey, had everything we needed and the views were amazing. One night there was an amazing sunset followed by a thunderstorm which our young grandchildren loved dancing in the rain!

It was wonderful staying in such a cozy cabin deep in the forest surrounded by 160 acres of private forest land! I saw plenty of wildlife including a herd of elk, and deer and even a black bear during my 5 night stay! The view of Fox valley was incredible to wake up to and fall asleep to each day! I am thankful for the opportunity to spend time in such a place and only wish I could have stayed longer!

Painted Hills
The Painted Hills are stunningly beautiful, best seen in the afternoon. Definitely worth a visit, especially for photographers.

If you like geology, you'll appreciate this place. I only had time to visit the Painted Hills unit. If I had more time I'd check out the other spots, too.

Don't miss the Painted Hills!
Gorgeous spot—had been hearing about the Painted Hills for years and finally had the chance to visit. We look forward to going back again soon, maybe at a different time of year when the August smoke haze isn't so strong.

Great day trip from Bend, Redmond, and Environs. There is a small private campground in Dayville if you want to stay a bit closer.

Each unit of the John day Fossil Beds National Monument is a must to see. The visitor center is in a class of its own. The landscape and rock formations and colors are breath taking. Several of the hikes should be on your list particularly the Carrol Rim at the Painted Hills Unit and the Island of time Blue Basin at the Sheep rock unit.

We visited the Painted Hills unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in late May. We spent the whole day there, hiking all the short trails to the different vistas. It is beautiful, not crowded. The picnic area is shaded and well maintained, a good place to take a break from the full sun.

Fun Trails & Amazing Fossil Museum
We spent time in both the Painted Hills unit and Sheep unit. The trails are so nice, offers lots of information about formation, amazing views of the hills, and I was able to hike the Painted Hill Overlook, Carol Rim Trail, and Blue Baisn Trail 8 months pregnant. The crown of it all was definitely the well layed out and curated Thomas Condon Fossil Museum.
