The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & ; family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). There is a “en suite kitchen in the cottage that has a small fridge, microwave, and two burner stovetop cooking unit. The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --are all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin. The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. our vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Even with all the little enclave of buildings, The Purple Cottage retains a private feel all to itself, with reliable Wi-Fi available at the cottage. . It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. The private deck off the side of the Purple Cottage offers views of the gardens & flora, and has a little gas barbecue. There is also a delightful hot tub on the deck, which is a wonderful feature. An outdoor kitchen on the edge of the woods allows a roomier “camp cooking” experience with Colman stove & cold running water (season permitting). We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town! The Purple Cottage offers a rustic retreat in a place that feels far away, but is an hour & a half from the bustling city of Seattle!Sweet & small ...(Think *Tiny House*) The main cottage is 200sq foot..and the NEW adjacent private bath house with shower, flush toilet, and vanity adds another 75 sq feet...all tucked away in a magical, private wooded setting!  Side deck offers a hot tub in a natural, wooded setting.  There are pathways & "contemplative points" throughout the property, in a natural garden setting.  Depending on the season, there are fresh herbs growing on the property for incorporating into your culinary creations.  Beach access is about a 15 minute walk away. The Purple Cottage is a little like "glamping"...... with an adjacent *Outdoor Kitchen* for your use (although you can also cook small meals in the cottage), hot tub, woods, beach a short walk away.... It's a little bit of bliss & heaven all on a shy acre, but is abutted by wooded greenbelts so it feels like so much more!  We have resident eagles, owls, deer, pileated woodpecker,  and more...!  Down at the beach: seals and if you are fortunate enough, orcas & gray whales.  It feels far away, but is only a 1  and 1/2 hour drive from downtown Seattle!

Consistent with other Hipcamp experiences, filled with whimsy and a fun setting. Two days was not enough to enjoy all the amenities. Walk to the beach provided exercise and solitude with eagles, osprey, bunnies, deer, and many bird sounds only from the trees.

Great place to unwind and detach. The moment you get there you just feel like you can rest and relax without guilt. Do at least 4 or 5 days to really enjoy it.

The most epic of stays!

The place is EPIC. Comfy, welcoming, brimming with awesome art, and memories all over. It felt like we were walking into such a thoughtful space, which was only exemplified by the kindness of appliances, access, and bits and bobs which made our stay even more wonderful. Sarah was kind, responded promptly, and was very conscious about our space and time whilst we were at the property. The hot tub was clean, warm, and ready to use. The bathroom which is right next door to where we slept was well stocked and the shower was great! Myself and my partner loved every minute and we will likely be back at some point! Thank you for creating such a unique spot on the island! I cant recommend this place enough!

The cottage itself was as expected: cute and intimate. The land around it was spectacular! Amazing birdsong and many types of berries: Very restorative. And Sarah was a wonderful host--informative, attentive, and friendly, but gave us all the space and privacy we needed. Highly recommend. Get your dreams of rest off the back burner. Do it now!

The Purple Cottage is perfect for us. A great place to come back to after a day kayaking around Holmes Harbor seeing orcas, seals and porpoises. Chilled a bit from our outing, the hot tub hit the spot. Night in the town of Langley with great meals and views of the salish sea. Sarah is a gracious host and extremely accommodating.

Cozy Stay in the Purple Cottage!

Our stay was lovely and everything we were looking for in a weekend getaway. If you’re looking for a cozy cottage with camping essentials I highly recommend the Purple Cottage. The outdoor kitchen and grill were everything we needed to prepare meals, and the shower / bathroom were great! (Steps away from the cottage and the shower has great water pressure/temp!) Sarah and Russell were great hosts, easy going and made us feel very welcome. They have a real gem there on Whidbey!

My girlfriend and I had a great time at the Purple Cottage Studio! It's a great home base for exploring all that Langley has to offer. Sarah, Russell, and their cute up Rio are all very friendly. Beaches all around (Saratoga beach in walking distance) and lots to do. The hot tub is really nice way to end the day.

A wonderful stay at a woodsy oasis!
The Purple Cottage Studio
A magical, sylvan oasis away from the city. The rustic cabin was marvelous, set back from the road and surrounded by a splendid variety of birdlife, squirrels and deer. I took advantage of the fire pit but did not cook at all, other than to boil water, so I can't speak for the kitchen facilities, but the set up looked very convenient. The hot tub is a gem. A pretty easy 15 minute walk or so to the private Saratoga Beach. Superb place to launch a kayak or to go for a swim (the water was really mild!). And a relatively quick drive to Langley for dinner and shopping. Sarah is a marvelous host who is very attentive and helpful, and her dog is very supportive. I've had other family members who stayed here; they commended the place to me. I definitely plan to return.

We had a great stay at the Purple Cottage! Sarah was there to greet us and give a short tour, then we had the place to ourselves. It was a really peaceful and private unit- we loved the hot tub, the surrounding forest and the quirky cottage decor :)

Such a lovely space and hosts. Very private and tranquil. Plenty of space and coziness to hang out or a great base for exploring. The property is entertainingly filled with art in every corner but the living space is simple with everything you'd need and more. Toasty warm shower and the hot tub was amazing. I built a fire (hosts had preppeed the firepit in advance) and listened to nothing but nature for hours. Outdoor furniture was comfortable. I'd head back there for sure :)

We loved staying at the Purple Cottage! Sarah was wonderful, we were very comfortable, and enjoyed using the outdoor kitchen and the hot tub. The cottage is adorable and we enjoyed looking at all the treasures and artistic details that abound around cottage and property.

Exceeded our expectations

Sarah met up with us when we arrived and then we were on our own-it was wonderful to have the privacy and quiet we were seeking. The cabin had more amenities than we expected and we were very comfortable. We loved exploring the area and the private beach for the neighborhood was a big plus. Thank you so to our hosts!

Loved this little cabin--it was exactly what we were looking for and I'm looking forward to a return visit. Sarah was super friendly with just the right amount of interaction--welcomed us, showed us around, then left us be to enjoy our weekend away. Would definitely recommend! NOTE: this is not a super secluded location--it's a cabin located right behind the host's house, however there is a lot of greenery, fencing, etc., which create a private feeling.

We had a great time at the Purple Cottage! It had just enough space for the 2 of us plus our small dog. The area was beautiful and peaceful, and we encountered numerous deer wandering around the neighborhood. It was a great place to spend a weekend exploring the island, and the hot tub was the perfect way to end each day.
