Recently we have added the winter season for the adventurous Clamping crowd. The cottage is very private, with alpacas nearby. Our cozy yurt is located within minutes of amazing hiking, biking, breweries and much more! Sit around the campfire while listening to our resident owls or stare up at the stars through the dome.
Our yurt has a loft where you can climb the ladder to a queen-sized bed. Or you can sleep on the full-sized futon on the main floor. We closed in half of the area under the loft for the bathroom, including a flush toilet, sink and shower. Please note there is a folding privacy screen but no door to the bathroom. The yurt has a small kitchen with a small refrigerator, toaster oven, coffeemaker, double cooktop, sink, pots, pans dishware and silverware. In colder weather the space is heated with a Rinai propane heater.
The whole yurt is yours to use as well as the associated porch/outdoor space and firepit. Wood-fired sauna (Available November - April if we're around during your stay. Please let us know if you're interested when you book and then coordinate timing when you arrive. No guarantees however...)
Did I mention that our property abuts the 4,000 acre Bristol Cliffs Wilderness Area? Notch Brook and the New Haven River, which are just down the road from us, provide ample fishing and swimming opportunities.
Are you interested in sampling Vermont’s famous brews, wines and spirits? We’re 5 minutes from the Bobcat Cafe and 15 minutes from Middlebury where you’ll find Otter Creek Brewery, Lincoln Peak Vineyard and other breweries and distilleries.
Are you curious about how maple syrup is made? We’d be happy to give you a tour of our 750 tap sugaring operation and samples of our syrup, candy and other maple confections.
Please note that the Yurt is about seventy five feet from our house on a working tree farm in a rural - residential neighborhood. We are generally very quiet and you will have all the privacy you desire. We do have a young daughter that likes to play outside in our yard, we do occasionally run tools and equipment and there is occasional road noise. If you are looking for a true wilderness type experience away from it all, this likely isn't the best option for you.

Please note- This site is on the backside of an operating crop farm. Corn, hay and wheat are grown on the farm. The road to the campsite is utilized by farm equipment, and at times, depending on the weather and traffic it can be muddy to travel on. We continue to improve the farm road, however at this time we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles.
Rules to follow onsite
When dry you can drive right to the tent, otherwise it is a Hike-To Campsite, it's approximately 400 feet from the parking area. No motorized vehicles permitted on the property beyond parking area. This is to help minimize traffic on the property and preserve natural environment and service road.
Parking: There is a parking area for multiple cars located at the entrance of the property, and is limited to 10 vehicles. Turn onto the private dirt road marked 361 Mt. Independence Road. Continue down the road about a 1/2 mile until you see the parking area sign. If you'd rather not drive your vehicle up the dirt road, there is designated parking space at the base of the entrance near the old barn.
Park in designated parking space only. Once parked in Parking area follow the mowed path to the campsite. This is a Posted Private Property. You'll see the signs at entrance of property.
Please stay on the mowed campsite, trails or road.
Do not cut trees or damage natural landscape.
Please leave the site as you found it.
Clean up after yourself and your pets.

Our family is excited to share the beauty of our working crop farm with others. My great grandfather settled here in the late 1930's from Stanstead, Canada, Our family milked dairy cows until 2006 at which time my Dad sold the herd and leased out to neighbor that continues the farming activities on the farm. In 2020, my husband and I became the proud owners of Lake Home Farm. For many years my grandparents rented row boats at this campsite which brought so much joy to so many. We are excited to engage with Tentrr and our campers to share this gem while continuing the relationship with our neighbor who crops the land. Note: this campsite is named after Dot, Dot lived in Ludlow, VT and she spent her summers at this site for all the years of my childhood. She was famous for her turtle soup and we're delighted to remember her in this way!

We've been farming here for 22 years, growing 5 acres of vegetables and flowers, all marketed within 50 miles of the farm. The farm sits on 90 acres right up against the Hogbacks and is only 5 miles from quaint Bristol village and tons of outdoor recreation opportunities.
Our cozy, private, rustic mountain yurt is a 30’ foot space located in an upper field tucked into a wooded hillside. Views facing east are great for watching the sunrise and a kitchen and outhouse mean you’ve got everything you need to get out of town for a few days.* The location provides a serene, intimate getaway for couples, artists or anyone looking for a bit of mindful downtime and introspection. Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices.
Main House Front Porch
The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices.
You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here.
Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone.
We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls.
We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September.
If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Camping is provided by and in support of the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, a 501 3C non-profit company. Located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest, the Outdoor Center provides access to the Blueberry Hill network of trails, the Vermont Long Trail, The Catamount Trail, and the Moosalamoo National Forest Trails.
All campsites are located at the edge of the field behind the Outdoor Center. We have hot/cold outdoor showers as well as restrooms in the Outdoor Center. For more information, visit our website at blueberryhilltrails dot com.
While there is an internet connection near the buildings, it may not be available at your site. Cell service is limited at best. You can drive your car right up to your site. Sites are a good distance apart. Site 1 and the Bed in the Shed are the most private. Site two is quite open and supports trailers.
For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen hunks of wood) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted.
Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support the efforts of this non-profit comany. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center.
The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks. Also available on site, at the Inn across the road on mornings we are serving, may be a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee. (Please enquire in advance or night before if any inn items are available. ) Don't miss our Pizza Nights at the inn. More info on the Outdoor Center webpage. This area is so diverse in its offering. Lake Iroquois is 200 yards from the site with access to the beach and boat launch one mile down the road. Lake Champlain is 15 miles to the west from us with varied access to swimming, boating, and water sports. Bikers can enjoy dirt road rides, flow trails, single track, and endless paved roads in Hinesburg and near-by towns. Hikers can hit the hills nearby or further away. Camels Hump State Park and access to the Long Trail is just 15 miles away. Need a city fix? Burlington is also 15 miles away and offers shopping, dining, a lively waterfront, music, the arts and more. Don't want to go far away? Hinesburg village offers 6 restaurants, a brewery, music on the green, and a well stocked grocery store.

Texas Hill Brook camp site
The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own.

The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

This enchanting yurt is very special to us! Previous friends and guests have exclaimed how romantic it is.
It has electricity, a tiny refrigerator, wood stove and a comfy bed. The composting toilet is available outside.
To get to the yurt
4WD recommended, ice and rain can greatly affect the roads.
There is a parking spot available to park across from Deer Road. Take the very short walk to the yurt.
Near our site is Green Mountain National Forest to explore. Blueberry Lake is just a short walk down our hill. Blueberry Lake is widely used year round for swimming, ice fishing, seasonal fishing, kayaking and canoeing.
Long Trail nearby
Bike trails/x country ski trails are connected right to our homestead. Continue on the trail and access some of the best mountain biking trails and snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.
Sugarbush Resort is a 10 minute drive and is one of the best ski mountains in the area!
If you are looking for gym and shower facilities, you can stop into the Sugarbush Resort, just a short driving distance, for a day pass fee.
Massages are available as a add on during booking!

Super cool very well curated space. The wood stove kept the pace plenty warm and the complimentary tea was great. Definitely heed the warnings about driving up the road in the winter without winter tires though.

This space was amazing! Ted was so attentive and communicative - gave us an extremely warm welcome.
The cabin itself was perfect, couldn’t ask for more. The space heater kept us warm, the bed was comfy, the shower had warm water and the view was beautiful.

Weekend Trip to La Lu Farm camp site
La Lu Farm is a beautiful property! The Goat Yurt is comfortable and the wood-burning stove makes it very cozy. The yurt is a good base camp for exploring the cute nearby towns and hiking in the Green Mountains. On a cold night, be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag and extra firewood (also, bring toilet paper for the outhouse). My spouse and I had lovely stay and would recommend!

Ken hosts one of the most incredible campsites I’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met too!
Make sure to bring a camera when you visit, the view is not something you’ll want to forget, nor the beautiful sites around the campground.
This is a must-stay, and I won’t be surprised if Ken ends up being booked year-round!!!
(Also, we recommend a car with higher suspension and four wheel drive as to make the trip up to the lean-to easier!)

Beautiful and easy to find spot with basically everything you could need for a no frills glamping weekend and the outhouse is probably the nicest one I’ve ever been in. My dogs loved running around in the field and the inside of the tent was very spacious. Susan and Drew stopped by to introduce themselves and make sure we were all set for the weekend. Highly recommend!

Ken’s site is just perfect. To die for view. Very nice lean to with a hammock where we stood our tent. Clear instructions. He sent a map and called to make sure we will settle good. You need a four wheel vehicle to get close to the lean to. Otherwise, there’s a nice campsite near the bathhouse as well. We loved our stay here. Felt super safe. And the outhouse is very accessible too if you need to go in the middle of the night. Thank you, Ken!

My husband and I LOVED our two-night stay in the bed-in-the-shed this past weekend. We've been up to Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center to do some gravel riding before and knew what to expect as far as amenities go. We were super pleased to have such a lovely, quiet and peaceful place to rest our heads. Shari was kind in her welcome and super communicative before and throughout our stay. We'll be making this a regular camping spot when we're in Vermont for sure!

We loved staying in the yurt during leaf peeping season! We were very warm, cozy, and feeling ‘off the grid’ in this secluded sunshine flooded spot with very little, if any, cell service. Our 26 lb pocket pittie had a blast running around all the hills and hopping around in the brush like a bunny. She was very sad when it was time to leave. I think this spot would be excellent for folks with small children as well because there’s plenty of nooks and crannies to explore without going very far. We loved sitting at the outdoor breakfast nook, reading, and napping in the breeze.

Conifer Cabin exceeded our expectations. The Cabin itself is very much as described/photographed - you have everything you need to be out of the elements and comfortable but it retains the best parts of camping. What delighted us was the orientation of the cabin relative to Medora’s house and the other HipCamp offering. Although both were within a short walk, we always felt like we had the place to ourselves.
Medora was an excellent host.- warm, welcoming and communicative. Vermont put a burn ban in place a couple of days before we arrived. Medora reached out to let us know we couldn’t have the fire pit near the cabin and offered a solution that worked out even better for us.

5 stars from a cousin duo & their dogs visiting from Saratoga NY! My cousin isn’t much of a camper so we met in the middle with this glamping tent not too far from civilization. She remarked she specifically liked that there were people living close by (but not too close) and the composting outhouse. Also, if you’re reading this and wondering whether you should pay to have firewood already at the site, definitely do it! Owners supply you with much more firewood than you can buy on the side of the road. Such a lovely weekend all around. Thank you!
