Water can be filled on property if needed. Location is just five minutes to Lower Treman Park or Buttermilk Park, with amazing hiking trails, seasonal stream fishing and swimming. This site is good for tent camping, campers or for large self driven RVs or pull behind RV trailers, with plenty of room for parking and turnaround. Extra tents may be erected. There are are no electric or plumbing utilities onsite. There is one composting toilet, but no shower facilities. Generators may be used.
The sight has a campfire ring, free firewood and a table with 4 chairs. The owners will not disturb you at your camping site but may use the south end of the lot near the pond. We are a dog-friendly location. Off-leash is okay, as long as your dog responds reliably to recall commands and is friendly with children and small dogs. The owners have two small dogs who are occasionally off-leash.
Looking to explore off-site? Ithaca: Cascadilla Meadow is located just 5 minutes from Cornell University and 10 minutes from all downtown Ithaca has to offer. Ithaca is well known for its many incredible restaurants, Farmers Market, local stores and art, theatre, wineries and breweries and of course, live music.
Finger Lakes: In just 10-20 minutes from this location, you will find an abundance of waterfalls including Ithaca Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Taughannock Falls. Cayuga Lake is great for Sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Lake swimming is available at Myers Park in Lansing or Taughannock State Park outside of Trumansburg. Jump off a diving board into the pool at the bottom of Lower Treman Falls or hike upper Treman to Lucifer Falls, possibly the most beautiful short hike you’ll ever find. The area has hundreds of incredible hiking trails to choose from. Plus, Seneca Lake and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail are just a bit farther west!
Biking: The roads of the Ellis Hollow area are popular with cyclists, while nearby Yellow Barn Forest, Hammond Hill and Shindagin Hollow are popular spots for mountain biking.
Full disclosure: Cascadilla Meadow’s RV parking is close to a moderately used local road. Tall power lines cut across this lot. We are also located the equivalent of a city block from a natural gas transfer station. We feel the benefits of solitary parking and the natural beauty of this area outweigh the small downsides of this location.

We have three camp sites on a 200-acre parcel of secluded, rural farm land. We are a working pasture based farm where you can see how grass fed beef, pork, chicken, and eggs are produced. There's nothing quite like fresh eggs and bacon after waking up to the sunrise over a fog-filled valley!
When you arrive we will provide a complimentary carton of pastured raised eggs and you are welcome to visit our web site (redhouseranch . net) or store to order meats for your stay and/or to take with you upon your departure. We have a wide variety of grass fed beef, pasture raised pork, snack sticks for long hikes, and dog bones and smoked treats for your furry friends. Many of our items are well suited for campfire cooking. Keep in mind that all our products are frozen so be sure to plan for time to thaw. If you're not sure what that involves - we're here to help.
We are a working farm but, much of our property is not grazed or farmed. You are welcome to explore the entire area while also getting a glimpse of sustainable, pasture-based, farming methods. Learn more about us and the history of the farm at our website.
As you roam the hills and forests you'll eventually bump into some of our animals. Please do not enter the animal enclosures or touch any of the electrified fence lines. If you really want to pet a piggie or hold a chicken - just reach out to Ike or Dave and we will gladly arrange this for you.
Red House Ranch is also the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. During your stay you may encounter eagles, blue herons, coyotes, turtles, wild turkeys, foxes, the endangered bobolink bird (its unique call sounds a bit like R2D2), deer, great horned owls, and many unique plants. It's not uncommon to hear the coyotes howling at night.
In addition to hiking trails with incredible views, there are four ponds on the property easily accessible with mown paths. One is very large with a dock and suitable for swimming, paddling, fishing, or just relaxing but the water. The other three are smaller and are now primarily wildlife habitat. easily accessible with mown paths
If you're feeling adventurous, there is a more strenuous hike down into the creek bed where you can find miniature versions of the gorges and waterfalls that our region is known for. We are happy to provide maps and guidance or leave you to your own devices.
When skies are clear our area has very little light pollution and excellent star visibility. It's a great place to view the night sky during a meteor shower.

The pictures are over a few years and when you get there the hay could be high, it could have just been cut.

This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. Hope to see you soon.

I stayed with my pup and had a good night's sleep. Great location for visiting Ithica. Just needed a place to park my camper van for the night. The site is easy to find and access. Thought it is relatively close to the road and in front of the house, off the driveway, it didn't feel like it. Road was quiet after 10 and had no issue with reference to the house location. Got to meet Z and he was very welcoming. It was nice to have the electric access and despite the rainy cold weather we had, it was a nice stay. Would definitely stay again.

We had such an amazing time here! My boyfriend, my roommate and her partner, and our dog all came up for the weekend — it was absolutely gorgeous. The site was spacious and private; we couldn’t see anyone else around, which made it feel so peaceful and perfect for a quiet getaway. It did get a bit chilly at night, but that just added to the cozy campfire vibes.
Dave and Ike were incredibly hospitable and welcoming — and the fresh eggs were delicious! Would 100% recommend this spot to anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy some beautiful open space.

The campground only has about a dozen or so spots. It was a pleasant space. It was a good place to stay 20 minutes to Ithaca. Shower could be larger (clean enough). Good price we were left alone and we left satisfied.

We really enjoyed the campsite. The campground staff were friendly and very helpful. It suddenly turned pretty cold during our stay and the campground staff were very helpful with freeze warning notifications. We’d love to return when it’s warmer out! Penny was very good with communication and I would recommend this site!

My boyfriend and I recently converted a shuttle bus into our home on wheels. This was our maiden voyage and it could not have gone any better. Z’s land was the perfect first step for our trip. Easy to find, peaceful, and close by the state parks which was a plus. We stayed here for 2 nights as we explored the area. Wifi was great. Very convenient to have electrical and water hook up. Level spot too. Z was super responsive and an excellent host. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Z!

We had an amazing time! Even with a slight hiccup on arrival, Hosts Ike and David were so sweet and helped us get our meat and egg order before dinner time! We had such a fun time walking around the property, through pastures and woods! Got to meet the cows and pigs, so we will have to be back for the sheep and goats! Thank you Red House Ranch, for an amazing night under the stars!

We stayed at Zbarn for three nights while we explored the wineries and nearby parks. It was perfect for a self-contained camper van, as it had electric and great internet. A 25 foot 30A cord with adapters for a surge suppressor will reach if you park close enough, but he also provides a 15A extension cord. There is a mowed strip of utility right-of way in back for walking the dog off-leash.
If you want to dump your holding tank and get a hot shower (or a hike and a swim), a day pass at Watkins Glen SP is $10.
Insider tip if you are there to re-stock wine: go to Northside Wine in Ithaca for advice on wineries to try. They know their stuff and confirmed some of our favorites and ‘meh’ places to skip. There are 150 wineries in the region, and they know them well.

Buttermilk Falls Campground
This is a beautiful campground super close to Ithaca. They allow you to compost and buy firewood. The water was low so we didn't see the waterfall near the entrance, but the entire space was lovely and clean. We were able to visit other waterfalls nearby. We also went cliff jumping, visited the famous Moosewood restaurant, and the incredible Ithaca Farmer's Market. Lastly, it was perfect for visiting Cornell's campus and their famous Ornithology center.
