The tent is 50 yards up a rustic wooded path through the woods and the yurt is an 800 yard (10 minute) uphill walk from the parking area. My 8-acre property used to be a hay field. The farm is long gone and I've been reclaiming the open meadow for a few years now. I only mow once a year in order to leave flowers and grasses for the birds and insects, including the honey bees and monarch butterflies who love the milkweed, goldenrod, asters and other wild flowers that grow here. I keep just a few narrow paths and the campsite mowed, You will be sharing your site with the wild world, including the owls who live here. Bears are not infrequent visitors and food should be carefully kept out of your tent and preferably locked in your vehicle with the windows up. I have a small house on the property and keep to myself at the other end of the open field from where your campsite is. I am available if you have a problem or need help with something, but you are on your own otherwise! Because my house is beyond your parking area, I do drive by going about my own business, but I can't see your campsite from my house unless I stand in my upstairs loft and look out the window at the other side of the house. I usually only do that so I can see if your vehicle is here or not. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent or two on the flat grassy edge of my meadow and enjoy the proximity to town and all the outdoor sports the White Mountains offer. There is afternoon shade over the site. This is a primitive site - no electricity, no running water, no security lights, and no covered pad. There is a picnic table, a fire pit suitable for cooking over, and a clean wooden outhouse. It's very private and although my house is nearby, I'm happy to just leave you alone. I sell bundles of firewood, but you can bring your own, if you want. Please just don't bring any wood in from outside this immediate area - I don't want any new non-native insects being brought in.

This is a very rustic, off-grid campsite—best for those who appreciate nature and are prepared to rough it. There are no hookups, electricity, or potable water. An outhouse compost toilet is available (bring your own TP). No showers or dump stations. Please do not dump grey/black water anywhere on the property. We allow small RVs, vans, and trailers under 24 ft. No 5th wheels. 4WD is recommended but not required. Garden carts are available, upon request, to haul gear if needed. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Pack out your trash (small bin next to outhouse provided for cans/bottles). No cutting trees or using the large bonfire pile in the center of the field. Arrive before dark—there are no lights on site or along the field road. If muddy, you may need to park at the bottom of the access road. We rent to up to 3 groups per night, sites are first come, first serve. Our family farmhouse dates back to the 1850s, with five remaining acres including the barn, fields, and woods. Firewood can be purchased. Please check our extras for other items for purchase. We have wetlands and overgrown fields so there may be bugs and other animals at any given time. Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. An outhouse compost toilet is available (bring your own TP). No showers or dump stations. Please do not dump grey/black water anywhere on the property. We allow small RVs, vans, and trailers under 24 ft. No 5th wheels. 4WD is recommended but not required. Garden carts are available, upon request, to haul gear if needed. Important to Know: No pets (we’re a working farm with chickens and farm dogs). Fires allowed only in designated pit. Bring firewood (or purchase from us) and always follow fire bans. Pack out your trash (small bin next to outhouse provided for cans/bottles). No cutting trees or using the large bonfire pile in the center of the field. Arrive before dark—there are no lights on site or along the field road. If muddy, you may need to park at the bottom of the access road. We rent to up to 3 groups per night, sites are first come, first serve. Our family farmhouse dates back to the 1850s, with five remaining acres including the barn, fields, and woods. We offer farm-fresh eggs and seasonal produce when available. Bears & Wildlife: This is bear country. Store all food, coolers, and scented items in your vehicle. Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. Just ask We are within 25 mins of Lancaster, Jefferson, Littleton, and Bethlehem. Small town bars, restaurants, breweries and one of a kind views of mountains, lakes, rivers and wildlife. Camp Ebb and Flow is located on the western edge of the White Mountains, near the crossing of the Appalachian Trail and a short drive to VT. Three lakes nearby for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Hiking trails nearby. The camp offers RV sites with water, electricity, and sewer, an RV site with no hookups, and several tent sites. One of the tent sites has water and electricity and another has electricity with nearby water. There is bathhouse with two toilets and two vanities as well as a shower with changing room. Potable water is also available from a spigot at the bathhouse. There are over six acres of mowed fields for activities and walking. There is also a lovely brook running through the property with many areas you can cool off in from the summer heat. This property has a lengthy history going back to colonial times. It’s been a farm, an apple orchard, and once had a sawmill. Please check the calendar for available dates. Check-in is no later than 9pm unless late arrival arrangements have been made prior to booking. Whenever possible, try to arrive before dark because there are no lights at most sites, which can make setup difficult. A note regarding electric vehicles (EV): If you have an electric vehicle and would like to tent camp, please select one of our full hookup RV sites. If you have the proper electric adapter for your vehicle, you can charge your vehicle at the 30A RV plug while tenting in the field near the RV site. We do not supply these adapters, and we cannot allow you to charge your vehicle unless you have reserved an RV site with full hookups. We stayed at Birch Grove on a particularly cold, rainy, and windy Halloween weekend and Nick already had a large tarp set up over the easiest tent spot.... plus a cow skull and a few candles for the ambiance. Incredible site with multiple pitches spread out around the land. We were lucky enough to be put on the beat site...on site 7 (despite booking the field site). What a view and great facilities. Fit pit with grill for cooking whilst watching the stars and white mountains. Camp cooking kitchen and shower near the main house. Fire wood for sale. Compost toilet at each site. The only problem was we wished we could have stayed longer! Look out for the friendly moose and check out the little boat on the pond. Fab site 10/10.

Chris and Ellen were incredibly accommodating — they communicated clearly, respected our privacy, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit. This is 35 miles through the White Mountains with no gas stations, so you might want to top off while in Lincoln. Thirty minutes east is the Mount Washington Cog Railway, and you will pass the historic Mount Washington Hotel on the way. Fifteen minutes south and you can be at Franconia Notch State Park.

My 8-acre property used to be a hay field. The farm is long gone and I've been reclaiming the open meadow for a few years now. I only mow once a year in order to leave flowers and grasses for the birds and insects, including the honey bees and monarch butterflies who love the milkweed, goldenrod, asters and other wild flowers that grow here. I keep just a few narrow paths and the campsite mowed, You will be sharing your site with the wild world, including the owls who live here. Bears are not infrequent visitors and food should be carefully kept out of your tent and preferably locked in your vehicle with the windows up. I have a small house on the property and keep to myself at the other end of the open field from where your campsite is. I am available if you have a problem or need help with something, but you are on your own otherwise! Because my house is beyond your parking area, I do drive by going about my own business, but I can't see your campsite from my house unless I stand in my upstairs loft and look out the window at the other side of the house. I usually only do that so I can see if your vehicle is here or not. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent or two on the flat grassy edge of my meadow and enjoy the proximity to town and all the outdoor sports the White Mountains offer. There is afternoon shade over the site. This is a primitive site - no electricity, no running water, no security lights, and no covered pad. There is a picnic table, a fire pit suitable for cooking over, and a clean wooden outhouse. It's very private and although my house is nearby, I'm happy to just leave you alone. I sell bundles of firewood, but you can bring your own, if you want. Please just don't bring any wood in from outside this immediate area - I don't want any new non-native insects being brought in.

In the heart of the White Mountain National Forest, Franconia Notch is the perfect setting for adventure. Jump in Echo Lake, climb the stone cliffs, or mountain bike along the Recreational Trail. The park’s 10 hiking trails include a section of the Appalachian Trail, as well as the otherworldly Flume Gorge path. If you prefer to check out the scenery from the comfort of your car, you can drive on the I-93 between the high peaks of the Kinsman and Franconia mountain ranges then hop on the Cannon Mountain tram for an elevated view. The forested Lafayette Place Campground has 97 tent sites, while Cannon Mountain has seven sites for RVs with hookups.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Of Lafayette’s 97 sites, 88 are by reservation only and seven are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  2. Reservations are not required for the RV campground but are highly encouraged, especially in summer.
  3. Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 11 months in advance.

When to go

As the most popular activities in the park are swimming, paddling and fishing in Echo Lake, summer is the busiest season. There’s plenty to do year-round, however. Hiking and biking are excellent during the cooler months of spring and fall, while winter offers the chance to snowshoe on multi-use trails and ski in the park's Cannon Mountain Ski Area.

Know before you go

  • During the off-season, between mid-October through May, only electricity is available so RVs need to be self-contained.
  • Bike rentals are available from Sport Thoma in Lincoln. Shuttle service to Franconia Notch is available.
  • Pets are permitted in the designated dog walks near the Tramway and Flume parking lots only, not in the campground.

HUGE campground but the only one that is at the trailhead for the fantastic Franconia Ridge loop so its worth it. Hit the trailhead early and you will be back in camp while everyone is still on the trail which makes it perfect for a mid afternoon snoozer. Showers are incredibly nice, fifty cents for 4 minutes.

Best place to go if you are not familiar with the area or don't want to drive far as there are many trails that start at the campground, from mountains to bike trails to leisure trails. I have been coming here since I was little and have never had a bad experience.
