One of the valleys last original stone homes dating back to 1845. We have been restoring the buildings made from the stone. The main house which is not yet finished has beautiful etched glass windows of the cattle drives.
James Hinds the homesteader and original owner of the ranch created the ware and hinds ditch which supplies our abundant Valley water. He was a prominent attorney and got our water rights given to us forever from President Harrison.
Currently, the ranch is running on an open range policy. Livestock is not fenced in, so please be cautious and understand that you are camping at your own risk. Please do not feed the animals (even though they are friendly they can get rambunctious) and keep all dogs on leash at ALL times.

Joe is an excellent host. Too bad our dogs aren’t boat trained otherwise we would have taken him up on rafting the Colorado river. The site is set up nicely and he will run down an extension cord and water hose so you can have all of your luxuries. There is a heavy dose of trains that come through but after that first night you kind of get used to it and all is good. Will try to get back again and take advantage of the rafting portion

We loved the quiet atmosphere at Stoneyard Distillery! There was plenty of room to park and the location is not far from the highway. We enjoyed the view, kayaking, and the nearby trails. No one was there when we arrived, but Max was quick to return our call, provided parking instructions, and made sure to meet us the next day.

This was our second visit to Belinda and Todd’s French Creek Ranch and we will return! They are extremely welcoming and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. The site we stay at with our little teardrop has electricity , water, Adirondack chairs, a propane fire table and stings of lights that provide a great atmosphere. The views of the Collegiate Peaks and wide open fields on the ranch are breathtaking and the walk down to the Arkansas River provides a calming and peaceful place to rest and relax. The bath/ shower house is a welcome benefit after a day of hiking and sightseeing. This is a magical ranch experience for our family and we hope to return every summer. Thank you Belinda and Todd for this great “ Home Away From Home” experience.

Brandon is a class act, and he's got a great spot for a fair price. He really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to ensure that we were having a good time.
Note that we didn't stay at the roadside spot specified in our reservation. Instead, he (very generously) offered to let us use a more secluded site next to his own trailer. (But my understanding is that this spot won't be available for other guests in the near future.). What I saw of the roadside spot: the road isn't very busy, and it doesn't have shade (not a problem if your trailer has AC, but ours doesn't).
While not fancy, the spots are plenty comfortable, with well-functioning utilities. They provided an extremely convenient staging ground for our activities around Glenwood.
Brandon also has a PhD-level knowledge of smoking meat. His brisket is a work of god-damn art. Like seriously, the most delicious brisket I've ever had. It changed my life.

This campground was an okay place to stay for a couple of nights, it had everything we needed and served as a convenient base for visiting Glenwood Hot Springs. If your main goal is to explore the area and enjoy the hot springs, it’s a practical option.

Cabin #9 has the best view of all the cabins in my opinion. Cabin #6 was tucked away a bit. Both got lots of afternoon sun/glare in June. Sometimes, staff lends fishing poles and bug expeditions. Check with the office when you check in for the schedule.
