Welcome to Capitol Reef Country! Road to the Sun Ranch is located in beautiful Grover, Utah (elev 7,200') along Scenic Highway 12, one of the most scenic drives in the United States. We are a pet friendly RV only campsite. The property is a short 6 mile drive from the quaint town of Torrey, host of the annual Fort Desolation Festival and 15 miles by car from Capitol Reef National Park. Our location provides RV travelers with an ideal base camp for exploring the natural wonders of this region of Southern Utah and the majestic Boulder Mountain. The property consists of mostly pasture land, desert sage, pinyon pine trees and panoramic mountain views. The ranch is surrounded by some of the most amazing scenery anywhere and endless outdoor opportunities! We have a single (self check-in) RV/trailer/van parking area complete with water, power, sewer, WiFi and picnic table. All guests MUST have their own bathroom, clean up after pets and pack out any trash. We are unable to accommodate tent or car camping anywhere on the property unless you are with a group that has a trailer or RV equipped with a bathroom available for use during your stay and no open wood burning fires are permitted at this time. Max trailer length is 28'. Max RV length is 35'. Class A motor homes are not recommended. Livestock enjoy the adjacent pastures during Summer and Fall months typically (June-September). The RV site is available seasonally from April - October.

We are a great spot to stay and have onsite a zip line into Lake Elevate, water slide into the pond, adventure island, zipline, kayaking, paddle boarding,
catch and release fishing, and close to all fun in the San Rafael Swell.
20 min or so from three reservoirs for additional fishing,
swimming and motor boating, 30 minutes from the Little Grand Canyon for breathtaking views, hiking and mountain biking, petroglyphs and the San Rafael Swell river to float on, 60 minutes from Goblin Valley, within 60 minutes to multiple slot canyons: Little Wild Horse Canyon, Muddy Creek, The Chute (similar to Zion National Park), Baptist Draw, to name a few.

We loved this clean park with hookups for our rig and awesome views! Staff was friendly, showers were good, and even the onsite BBQ was descent (we had the smoked chicken!). They have some nice curated items in their gift shop too so be sure to check it out.

Beautiful and peaceful setting. Very clear directions and instructions. It was wonderful having full hook-up! And an extra nice surprise to receive a gift of coffee! Thank you! It was close to the parks we wanted to visit and our dog enjoyed some off-leash time with us. We very much enjoyed our stay there and most definitely would stay again.

Great location for touring Capital Reef and surrounding area. The back sites on the fence are the best but there is no walking/hiking to speak of out of the campground. Property is well kept, bathrooms/showers clean and nice. The one big drawback was that the dump station doesn't have water so it's really not usable. We just pulled in to one of the sites that had sewer hook-up, glad one was empty.

This is a nice place - they have showers, a restaurant, even a big gift shop. The site itself isn't that interesting, but the back side looks out on the desert. You can bike into town. The hosts are nice. Their cinnamon muffins are really good!

Privacy and views were great. The hookups were straightforward (especially once I got the longer connector hose that was available to borrow) and well maintained. The host qas responsive and helpful but not intrusive. Five stars... And thousands more to see above with the great dark sky conditions. My wife and I loved staying here.

We loved staying at this amazing spot. The bathrooms were so clean, showers were hot, and waking up to the views was phenomenal. With Capitol Reef only being 11 minutes away and having these facilities that are flawless, there’s no reason not to stay here. Highly recommend!

Sites were well maintained. Most had trees that gave partial shade. Park staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi was decent. In fact on this trip (coast to coast and return) it was among the best we encountered. The campground is surrounded by a split rail fence and beyond the fence you’re on Forest Service land so your dog can be off leash.
The campground is only a few minutes from the dam and visitors center at the south end of Flaming Gorge.

I am always encouraged by the ingenuity and creativity of the hosts in Hipcamp. A perfect example is here! Imagine you survived a journey through the harshest desert and made it to Emery UT.
What fun, white silty soil, a weathered abandoned homestead, wonderful view and awesome sunrise. Definitely worth a visit.

Just before the campground there is a dirt road that has tons of free BLM camping.

This campground is so unique and the park is a must-see for anyone traveling through the area. The first night we camped here we stayed in Yurt 1, which was an experience unlike all else. It comes equipped with a heater, AC, a table, a couch, and full-sized bunk beds. There are vault toilets by the yurts, or you can walk over to the flush toilets in the main campsite loop. They even offer showers there! We loved this campground so much we decided to stay another night at a campsite. The spots are well spread out and offer individual small cover shelters. Be sure to bring in all the supplies you need- the park is pretty remote. Also! There's a disc golf course set up through the park, just ask the visitor's center for frisbees.

Goblin Valley was our favorite stop on our Southern Utah road trip. We stayed in Yurt #2 which was very private and surrounded by gorgeous rock formations. We spent the entire afternoon and evening exploring all the nooks and crannies of the unusual smooth rock formations in the vicinity surrounding the hurt and campsite. Climbing to the top of the closest mound for both sunrise and sunset made for memories us 3 gals won’t soon forget. Our favorite part, however, was our “Midnight in the Valley of Goblins” stroll through the shadow land of creature-like formations. Everywhere you turn is another larger than life profile. It was both spooky and mesmerizing. 🗿🗿🗿

Make sure you have food and supplies. The park is quite far from any town and stores. The visitor center only carries very limited snacks.

This campground has several sort of walkin sites, and some more for RVs, vans, etc. It has flush toilets and showers, and is one of the few sources of water for miles. Very popular, but doesn't have a lot of shade, so be prepared. One of the most accessible slot canyon hikes around is nearby, Little Wild Horse Canyon/Bell Canyon loop. Great fun for kids and others to clamber around on the weird rocks.

This place is amazing! Super dry and dusty so bring plenty of water. Stay in a yurt during the cooler months and you'll be perfectly fine due to the gas stove inside. The beds are really lumpy but you'll be s0 tired from your hiking and rock scrambling you won't care.
The pit toilets were pretty gnarly but other than that it was amazing. This is a State Park and under review for possible closure in certain areas since some idiot pushed one of the formations over in 2013. Utah residents can check out a state park pass at the library and skip the park entry fee.
Spots fill up quick as this is one of the more popular parks but you can boondock it on several BLM areas near by. A MUST for anyone visiting Moab which is a lot more crowded.
