We are locally owned by a family of 8 and love calling Moab our home. We understand the corporate overtaking that Moab has had in the last 5 years and plan to keep our campground affordably priced and locally owned. We have upgraded the old site plan from 7 RV sites to 55 Full Service RV sites this year. Most sites are pull through but we will have some back-ins. Our new bathhouse has a laundry, women's bathrooms and showers, men's bathrooms and showers, and an ADA compliant family style bathroom.
In addition to the new bathhouse, we have a new office and retail store where we sell souvenirs, RV supplies, snacks, drinks, ice, firewood, and other necessities for guests. We do not currently have propane fill on site.
We know that there are many options to choose from when it comes to staying in Moab. We urge people to support locally owned businesses that help Moab grow and solve problems that exist in our community. Moab is a recreation mecca with something for everyone and our little campground on the south end of the valley puts you within minutes of town, the mountains, and the red deserts around Moab.

Come camp Where The Wild Things Camp! Let the awe-inspiring views of the majestic slick rock, sage and juniper surround you in the peace and quiet of this beautifully secluded desert space. Centrally located to the best Canyonlands has to offer, our camp is located on 25 acres less than half a mile from Looking Glass Arch, a popular rock climbing destination which got its name from the conquistadors who would climb to the top and look through a “looking glass” for landmarks that would lead them back to Santa Fe.
Moab is 25 miles to our North, about a 30 minute drive. The nearest convenience store/gas station is in the tiny town of La Sal, 12 miles NE of us. Although the Lasal Jct. now has burger truck, showers, ice and snacks. The nearby La Sal mountains rise to over 12,000 in elevation and is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy lakes surrounded by beautiful pine and aspen forests.
As the name suggests, Where The Wild Things Camp truly is wild and not for everyone. We are off grid, meaning there is NO electricity, no drinking water, and only "spotty" cell phone service is best just anywhere before bathrooms. Make sure to check the weather forecast before coming out and be prepared for anything as the weather here in the desert can be unpredictable and ALWAYS stake down your tents! Porta-Potty's available. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRACTICE PACK-IT-IN AND PACK-IT-OUT. Trash service not available.
NON-AGGRESSIVE dogs are always welcome, however please keep in mind that a lot of our wild friends also live here, such as coyotes, rattlesnakes, deer and antelope. We wouldn’t want your pets or our friends harmed in any way!
From Moab: Drive south on Hwy 191 for approximately 23 miles and turn right (east) onto Looking Glass Rd/Co. Rd. 131 (It will be the first right after La Sal Junction) Continue on this road for 1.4 miles until you see a wide gravel road branching off to the left. Turn left, this road will branch again in .03 miles, turn to the right and continue straight (another .5 mile to WHERE THE WILD THINGS CAMP!!

What we offer: In addition to an exceptional view of the mountain, our place is clean, spacious, orderly, quiet, inexpensive, with super fast and stable WiFi. What we don’t offer: fancy landscaping or restrooms.
The Adventure Haven feels open, public and safe to most people. Funky and rural, in high pristine desert with a sweet view of the mountain is the overall vibe. Hours can go by with no traffic noise. This is in contrast to the constant drone of traffic noise in Moab. We are also about ten degrees cooler than Moab with nights cooling off even more; what a relief!
The Adventure Haven is a five site mini-RV park located in an old and somewhat derelict subdivision in a small town on a 1.5 acre lot. A uranium boom town in the 1950's, La Sal is now a shadow of past times (and littered with artifact trailers and structures). But we are in beautiful high desert country and we are at the foothills of the La Sal Mountains and the park has a completely unobstructed view of this range!
What kind of people LIKE it here? Those who like peace and quiet and dark skies. Relaxed full-time RVers, work-at-homes who need strong and fast WiFi, folks on a budget, those who like to support Hipcamp hosts, people looking for inside local information, solo travelers who want to feel safe yet not in a crowded place - like they’re near someone they know, and in a quiet, small town where unusual things are noticed.
What kind of people DON’T like it here? People expecting a resort, or a vast-pristine-remote property. Also people who are uncomfortable with rural eye-sores typical of rural Utah (old cars, and slow projects) will not like it here, nor will party people and special event groups (not allowed here).

This Outpost and campground is located on 300 acres of private property surrounded by park and public land. It has been here for over 30 years in some form or another. We are Caleb & Amber who enjoyed managing this little oasis in the middle of the desert from March to June of 2017 when we decided to purchase the business & make it our own. This is a dry, rugged campground with a bathhouse that provides coin operated showers and flush toilets. In addition there is little old rustic camp store placed in the middle of nowhere where we provide fuel, snacks, firewood, ice, showers, cold drinks & more.
If you are looking for a more private site with lots of space and shade, book our Small Group at the Rocks. For a warmer stay during the cooler months book one of our Glamping Tents listed. We have the larger, and spacious tent in the grove of the Juniper Trees (which is also amazing in the warmer season) and rent a heater from us inside the general/camp store. Please check with us on fire restrictions, hipcamp is often wrong on their assumptions, we rarely have fire restrictions.

We had such a great stay! The tipi was a really cool and unique camping experience, close enough to Moab to get to everything easily, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of town. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for.
Our favorite part of the trip was definitely Ringo, the sweet dog on the property. He “showed us around” and played with our dog the entire stay. Watching them run and explore together was honestly a highlight.
Danny was incredibly kind and hospitable. He checked in on us, made sure we were comfortable, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his guests having a good experience.
We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

This was one of the most unforgettable stays of our lives! Incredible climbing up the rocks that hugged our campsite to watch the sunset over Canyonlands. Caleb and Amber were nothing but helpful and in addition to stewarding this magical place, run a very cool little shop. We loved seeing Amber’s ceramics and watercolors there and picking up special camp treats.

This site is Exceptional !!!!! Very Clean and although it might not seem like it on the drive in - very secluded with gorgeous views of the La Sal Mountains. We turned left onto Pearl street when we should have gone straight into the ranch - there is a “Hipcamp” sign - so make sure to look for that! Best overnight spot for us yet! Highly Recommend!!!

Drinks Canyon Camping Area
I stayed along the Colorado river. Not specifically at drinks canyon but at oak grove campground, which is probably less than a half mile up river from drinks. It was approximately two campsites down from drinks. The sites are perfect, other than being a little close to other campsite neighbors. It was clean for the most part and definitely quiet. Would recommend if you’re trying to get into arches day of or next day. All first come first serve 20$ per night.

Nice place. Road noise is loud, but we sleep with ear plugs and it disappears. The ground is quite sandy and sand gets everywhere. My only complaint would be that the toilet smelled so so bad. It had been in the 90s and it was vile!

We had an amazing stay at Cowboy Camp! We camped in site #6 on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 (High: ~80F, Low ~40F) We were the first group to arrive at the campground around ~2pm. Only 3 of the 7 sites were occupied by the end of the night.
The access road into the campground off the highway has a few deep ruts but should be manageable in any vehicle. We were fine in our low clearance Honda Fit, just go slow!
Each of the seven sites has it's own picnic table and fire pit. There is also an open air pit toilet in the middle of the campground.
All of the sites have decent spacing between them, but little shelter or privacy. Site 7 has the most privacy as it's at the end of the road.

Loved Horsetheif! We didn't book any sites in Canyonlands in advance and they were all booked up when we visited. The camp host was especially awesome and you can purchase firewood here! 10/10 would camp again.

Moonflower is now a single group site and is no longer available for individual tent camping. For groups of 20 or less. Recommend booking in advance.
The site is stunning, though close to the road so there is some noise. Easy for car camping and plenty of space in the parking lot. One downside is that the site is close to a trailhead, so people will frequently, mistakingly walk through the campsite. No running water; dogs allowed.

During the day, there’s no better view of the Colorado River and surrounding formations, and at night, be sure to take a look at the sky. This campground has that secluded feel, but is an easy 20 minutes drive down the River Road from Moab.

Stake your tent down very well, as it can get very windy during the day. I thought I had mine in the ground pretty well, but it still wound up blowing away! A kind neighbor went and retrieved it and re-staked it for us,

This was a great secluded campground. Tucked in away from HWY 128 with great access to the Colorado River. The sunset was beautiful. 360 degrees of breathtaking formations that were beautifully silhouetted.
Pros: Sites were very large and there was hardly anyone around.
Cons: Bathrooms were very primitive and there was absolutely not protection from the weather.

This can be THE location that you base your Utah adventures out of. Upper Onion Creek is within spitting distance of super formations like the Titan, Delicate Arch, and the entirety of Castle Valley. I've been here three times, and every time it's been quiet and fairly distant from the tourist noise of Moab. The 2WD road to get there is very accessible, so no worries about that regardless of what you're driving!

Goose Island is one of the first campgrounds on the south side of Arches National Park and the Colorado River, east of Moab. This is a really great spot, close to hiking, mountain biking, bouldering, kayaking and other river activities. Expect this site to fill up quickly on popular weekends.

King's Bottom Campground is on the south side of the Colorado River, west of Moab and near the entrance to Kane Springs Canyon. This is a nice area to camp because it is very close to Moab and easy access to Kane Springs Canyon activities like climbing. This campground is next to Kane Springs campground which serves as a catch all for people trying to find a place to camp on busy weekends so expect to near a lot of people when camping here. This area is also very open and prone to being very dusty if there are high winds in the area.

Beautiful camping area alongside the Colorado river on the southern side of Arches National Park. There are some great hikes back here including Negro Bill Canyon which takes you to Morning Glory Bridge and bouldering at the Big Bend Bouldering Area.

This campground is in the town of Moab itself which is very central to the national parks, state parks and blm land in the area. After talking to the Moab information office I was told that this campground often doesn't fill up as fast as others on holiday weekends because most people want to camp closer to the parks.

Good location for access to Moab, Arches, Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands. The campground is quite large so expect of have company while camping here. Lots of BLM land to explore around this area as well!

This is a beautiful place to camp, off the beaten path so you will avoid most of the tourists visiting Moab. There are 10 more established campsites across the dirt road from groups sites A & B. Road is well maintained and most cars should be able to make it to these campsites. They do fill up on holiday weekends so get there early!

We pulled in late at night, not really knowing where we were. When we awoke the next morning, we saw that we were RIGHT next to the busy road, but also RIGHT next to the river. The views were beautiful but being so close to the road wasn't exactly the most desirable. I'm guessing all the campgrounds along that road are that way. We spent very little time at the actual site, so it didn't really matter. We hiked the Negro Bill canyon trail nearby, which was picturesque. The dog loved it. Grab a breakfast burrito in town at Love Muffin. Would we camp here again? Meh. We'd probably try somewhere else.

This was an amazing spot, with an awesome host. We got there really early, about 7:30, to make sure we got a spot, because most of them are gone by 10. However, we later found out that even if you pay for your spot and leave the slip clipped to the site number, people can take your spot if you don't leave something on the site. The camp host was nice enough to go over and leave a jug of water, so nobody tried to take it before we could return. The site itself was really nice. There are two restrooms on each end. The river is right next to the site, it's only a couple miles from the main road, about five miles from the town, and about five miles from the entrance to Arches National Park.

An absolute perfect campground! We went in early January and it was empty! It was incredible location to the town of Moab, boarders Arches, and is about a thirty minute drive to Canyonlands. It was winter so it was a little cold but our fire kept us warm. This would be a great camp spot in the summer. It was on the water and it was calling for us to swim in it.
